Rate this book
Jack Harker and Ivy Morgan are happy. Actually, they’re more than happy. They’re also content. Nothing can get in their way.
That all changes when a disheveled teenager shows up at Shadow Lake’s weekly dance. The girl is dirty, disoriented, and traumatized. That means Jack and Ivy are on the case, and the truth of one girl’s horror may bring the entire Shadow Lake community to its knees.
Jack is worried Ivy is going to get too involved – and put her life on the line in the process.
Ivy is frantic that the traumatized girl won’t get justice, and she’s determined Jack is going to help her make sure that’s not the case.
When the truth comes out – and one of Shadow Lake’s most recognizable families looks to be at the center of trouble – everyone is going to take sides.
Jack has Ivy’s back no matter what. It’s external forces standing in their way – and threatening their lives. Can this duo protect a terrorized girl, find time to spend with each other, and shelter Shadow Lake from the outside world?
Only time will tell – and Ivy will end up in the crosshairs of a murderer before all is said and done.

Ivy annoyed me in this one. I know her heart is in the right place wanting to help but she caused trouble too. 🙄

This was a heavier story than the previous ones.. While Ivy and Jack are attending a town dance, a young girl shows up dirty and frightened. She ends up fainting and when taken to the hospital they find out that she is so malnurished that while she looks 13ish she is actually 19. and she has been sexually abused and gave birth. At first the girl doesn't say much, they man that took her didn't really speak, he left her alone unless he wanted something. She was told her parents were dead, but they are still alive and living in the same house.. She denies anything to do with having a baby.. and while the police want to push her for answers they don't want her to shut down completly. Ivy has been spending time with her at the hospital and taking her outside.. trying to earn her trust so the girl will open up..
Turns out the bad guy is someone that everyone knows, and no one suspected..
I had no idea who the guy was until the end when it was revealed. I think each book gets better and better. Eventhough the arguing between Jack and Ivy, and Jack telling Ivy what to do gets a bit old. Everything else is really good

Ivy and Jack are going out together in town. Ivy is a little nervous about this outing because she tends to stay away from the people in town, but she starts to have fun. However, that is before a strange girl shows up and things start to go crazy. Jack and Ivy must do what they can to figure out what has happened to this girl, and who hurt her before it is too late.

This book was good, but I felt like it was slightly a repeat of a previous book, with the girl showing up who had been mistreated. That was a little bit frustrating, but other than that I thought this one was good. I enjoyed Ivy and Jack together and how they helped the girl.

I can't wait to read more in this series now.

I liked that this story had no murdering in it. That’s a nice change up in the usual. This was also pretty heavy of a topic and something that happens more often than we know.

Hopefully in future books in this series, Jessica will make an appearance and also Kelly. I wish the abuser had gotten more of what was coming to him and that Ivy would have really burned him with her words, but I guess she knows there isn’t much to say to a man who doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong. This story reminded me a little of one of the previous books about a girl who was abused.

The next book is Wicked Fog (book 6). Starting that now.

• Considering the volume of incorrigible people inhabiting one tiny town where everyone knows everyone else, I sorely fear for the universe.

• We couldn’t have had a nice, tidy murder? I just did not need to read about a little girl kidnapped by a pedo who imprisoned her for years and forced her to give birth while she lived in a lightless shed. I really didn’t.

• There were no other plots available for a cozy mystery? Thanks for ruining my day.

The Best of the bunch

What I am writing is more about this series and the author, Lily Harper Hart. I started with this author on her Harper Harlow Ghost Mysteries. I enjoyed them and took notice of the many crossover books. That led me to bingeing 4 other of her series (Rowan, Maddie, Hannah & Ophelia). When I read the first Ivy book , I wasn't sure it was my thing (I was accustomed to witches who do spells). But, after I got used to her style, I came back to Ivy. Now, I think Ivy is my favorite. Her mysteries are unique, varied and interesting. As are her growing powers.
So if you ran across this 5th in this series first. I suggest you go back to the first book and read them all in order. Be aware that there is some "world building" and character building that happens in the first couple books.
I think I am liking each successive story more than the previous one. So, I highly recommend the Ivy Morgan Mysteries. I'm finding them very binge-able and look forward to number 6.

Entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Ivy Morgan is a young woman in a town in northern Michigan. She owns a nursery/gardening establishment. She also happens to be a bit witchy. She lives in a small cottage not too far from her nursery and her recent boyfriend has for the most part moved in with her even though he has a house on the other side of town. He happens to be a local detective And they have a tempestuous relationship as they both have fiery personalities. Abby always has a knack for getting involved in trouble and or investigations and Jack has to bail her out on occasion or she bailed him out. Together along with his partner and Ivy‘s brother they always find the person responsible. It is an entertaining and fiery bunch of characters and always a fun and entertaining read.

I absolutely adore this series. The author weaves such easy, enjoyable tales that I keep eating up like candy. I love the relationship between Ivy and Jack, it is so cute and refreshing to see two people accept each other at their current points in life.

This book handled a more heavy topic than previous. While all the books have murder mysteries that need to be solved, this one involves a young woman that was abducted and held prisoner for years. The story had me hooked and I was very curious who was going to be the ultimate culprit. I had an inkling early on and couldn't wait for it to pan out!

The abuse and response to said was written so well; such a good rep of PTSD among other responses after finally getting free. My biggest gripe with this book was actually Ivy. I understand her compassion and desire to be involved but she occasionally takes it too far, and this was one of those times. She was just a bit over the top and then oddly miffed when what she wanted couldn't happen.

Overall though its a great story and another good addition to the series! Highly recommend if you like

4.5 Stars... This mystery was a bit darker than those earlier in the series... The nature of the crime twisted and cruel which could be troublesome for some readers... However, the author also gave readers moments of levity with the witty/sarcastic humor we have come to adore from these characters as well as moments of sweetness and sensuality that strikes between Jack and Ivy... Most of all, Lily Harper Hart gave readers moments of compassion, courage, and strength as we watched the interactions between Ivy and Jessica unfold and each character’s growth throughout the story... This read certainly had powerful and moving moments that mesmerized me and struck an emotional cord... I suppose a truly good book does just that:)

Another fun series from Lily Harper Hart

Once again, the characters are amazing. The reader is immediately transported in to Shadow Lake's community, and knows the central figures almost immediately. Ivy is a slightly damaged soul - she doesn't care about the idiots who bad mouth or shun her, but she is petrified of being hurt. She'd rather be alone. Jack is badly damaged emotionally, and refuses to care for anyone. Then they meet can't deny their chemistry.

Episode 5: An abused girl is found, after being missing for six years. Ivy has to help, and works with the girl to get her back on her feet, and to remember who her abuser was. But he finds Ivy first...

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Magic together ❤️

I am seriously loving this series. Ivy and Jack are so cute! The relationship between Max, (Ivy's brother) and Jack is really cool too. Like old buddies.
This book was a little rough. Not in a bad writing way, but story line way. I'm just glad that through the trust and friendship Ivy builds with people, makes it a lot easier.
As the connection between Ivy and Jack grows, so does the magic.

A frightened child and a gripping mystery.

In this story, Jack and Ivy have a new mystery to figure out while they continue to figure out who they themselves are. This keeps the continuity going all the while the entertainment factor stays high as well. Hart keeps it addictive once again.

Awesome Story

A young woman finds her way to the weekly barn dance. She is bruised and clearly starving. Ivy and Jack rush her to the hospital, where the horror of her life for the last several years slowly unravels. What is truly scary about this story is, things like this do happen in real life. I am glad the book was about the subject, as more people need to know about the horrors of child abduction. Thankfully the book had a satisfying ending.

“Now, come on. Show me your magic.”

As Jack and Ivy continue to grow closer and closer, evil continues to mar their sleepy town. When a missing girl shows up out of the blue, they have to find the man who took her and help her heal. Love these characters, love these books! Super read! Enjoy!!!

Wicked Warning an Ivy Morgan mystery book 5

I have read 5 of her books in 5 days.that's how much I love her books. I read this series in 2015 so I forgot most of the book so I can read this series again. I highly recommend all her books and I have read over 50 of them and she writes great mysteries and has a great imagination. Diana Romano

Great book with a happy ending. All the endings are happy, but this one was particularly happy. A 13 year old girl is kidnapped and held captive for 6 years. She escapes at 19, and her story is heart-wrenching. The fact that she is reunited with her parents and the fact that she is reunited with her baby that was born out of rape makes the happy ending particularly bittersweet.

Not as good as the one’s before.

I’m listening to the box set but I don’t remember which ones were better. It didn’t like the subject matter for this one. Kidnapping & rape isn’t easy to read about. I do still like how Ivy & Jack are “in tune” with each other! It’s Jack &/or Max to the rescue!

Still Fun

The case this time was pretty disturbing. I'm glad the bad guy was caught, but I do wish it would happen when the bad guy isn't trying to kill Ivy for a change. At least Ivy and Jack's relationship continues to grow as do Ivy's abilities along with it.

Hard Subject

This book was the hardest Harper book I have read so far because of the subject matter. Don’t start reading until you are sure you have enough time to finish it, because you are not going to want to do anything else.

Kidnapped girl needs help

A girl shows up at a dance, clearly traumatized, and needs help. Meanwhile, Jack ponders when to say "those" three words to Ivy. As if the things they say weren't romantic enough as it is ...

This book was good but the theme of the book was very close to a previous one. The previous one had a teenager being abused by her councilor and Ivy finding her in the greenhouse. This one was about a thirteen year old girl being kidnapped and abused for six years who escaped.

This was one of the hardest books to read. Not because of the writing but because of the topic that surrounds the character that comes into their lives in this volume. It’s a good read -just a hard one.

Excellent book but author notes need more

This was an excellent book but I feel the author notes should have included information about how to get help for what happened to Jessica. You never know who it what circumstances a person is in that has read a book

The main subject in this book needs to be discussed. Some. Place. Else. Pick a more appropriate platform. These are supposed to be cozy, witchy mysteries. This book is uncomfortable and depressing. I am hoping the next in series will be lighter and maybe cozy.

Good read

Book 5 has a little humor, loads of angst, a 6 year old kidnapping, a serial rapist, magic, and a sassy, independent, stubborn heroin and her hunky detective boyfriend. Highly entertaining.
