Amidst the snow and icy wasteland, Earth has become a watery grave to many. Zargonnii warriors Finn and Blu search for any remaining human females. Luck abounds and six females are found struggling to survive. The moment his blazing red eyes settle onto Bethany Finn feels in his heart she is the one he wants to end his loneliness. When Bethany encounters two massive aliens, eyes alight, long white hair wildly flying, she knows the pair are either death or salvation. Their encounter leads Bethany on the wildest adventure of her life. After the Zargonnii ship is annihilated by the enemy a shuttle leads Finn and Bethany straight into the path of peril more times than the couple care to count.
Born and raised in Ontario, C. L. Scholey developed her passion for writing through her love of reading books as a child. Her first book was contracted in Oct 2009 the very same month her first grand son was born. C. L. Scholey still lives in Ontario, in a rural community with her husband and daughter.
From the author: Hello, I'm Connie! Now that we've met how about I tell you a little about me? I love to write, it's like having a super power.
I was born and raised in Ontario...yes I'm Canadian, no I don't live in an igloo, no I've never pet a polar bear, but I have run into a few black bears, seen wolves, moose, coyotes and I think there's a hundred pound squirrel in my attic.
I spend as much time as I can get away with looking for rocks in Bancroft. When I'm not in Bancroft I live in a small town, so people know me when they see me. Some ask me what I'm working on--some even ask me in a regular voice not a whisper.
I get bored easily, it's why one day I'll be working on assassins, the next Sci-fi, then Vikings, then vampires, then planning world domination--wait, what?
Moving on. I love animals and we have a dog, 120p mastiff. He's great with the kids and careful around them, but he'd run me over for a piece of bologna. Otherwise he loves us.
If you want to get to know me better join me on FB or twitter. Right now I need to change back into a mom, it's my best super power.
I enjoyed the previous two books a little more than this one.
The story begins on Earth as the Zargonni are trying to find more human women to rescue. The hero of the story is Finn the doctor from the first book, Bays Mercenary. Finn and Blu find six women living in igloos in a very frozen area and rescue them. Unfortunately, after they are rescued an enemy shoots at their spacecraft and all are forced into escape pods. I suspect there will be future stories following the other women in their escape/journey.
This story follows Bethany and Finn as they travel from world to world attempting to get back to Finn's home planet. The chemistry could have been better. I wasn't loving the romance. Finn did zero wooing & simply assumed Bethany was going to be his mate.
The introduction of so many new worlds with possible allies/enemies seemed a little chaotic. Bethany is repeatedly 'kidnapped' away from Finn.
Overall I would say this was worth reading as the story line and world building is enjoyable. The author manages to tie in her other series as well, which I enjoyed.
These books are entertaining and I loved the different races that have appeared through the series so far. I loved Finn in Book 1. He was such a kind, steady presence. He's a healer, so of course, he needs to be. But he is also sad as he craves love. He wants a family that he knows is possible with a human female.
There are things that I questioned through the books. One being that if the humans look so much like Castians and Torans (Hope I'm spelling those right), why did Blu think Bay a pet/animal? Those aliens are human in appearance. There are a lot of things that also happen out of convenience. Overall, the books are entertaining and there are a lot of worlds to explore. The romances are sweet but wish there had been more depth.
I love this author but this was not my favorite installment of the Unearthly World series.
The plot just felt a little scattered to me. Finn was always a step behind, trying to find or rescue Bethany. One good thing is that we got to meet some pretty cool (and weird) new alien species.
This read like a story whose only purpose is to take the reader on an exotic adventure. Visit different settings, cultures, and move on to the next (like an explorer).
While there's nothing wrong with an adventure story, there is when the plot is devoid of anything else. These different settings didn't do that much to further the plot forward. If you take away the reader's introduction to different settings, I got absolutely nothing else out of the plot. Why did the two characters fall in love? Them saying 'I love you' is not proof to me that they love each other. Them staying together for survival is not proof to me that they love each other. One helping to keep the weaker one (weaker to the planetary conditions) alive is proof of moral honour, not love.
I'm also not sold on the character's ability to light living beings on fire with her mind when she can't use pyrokinesis for anything else. (These random abilities that humans are gifted with after coming into contact with mind aliens really notches my incredulity to maximum).
After reading a couple other books from this author, I've come to the conclusion that while the author has a big imagination and can create interesting worlds, she struggles with character depth and development, and plotting. She can create simple plots, but anything more complex than that is currently out of the question (either the author just doesn't want to, can't, or doesn't put the effort in). Complex plots are comprised of scenes that deal with choices that the character makes. Choices that are hard and put strain on the character psyche. A few scenes later, a choice that the character has made before comes back to bite the character. That choice should have been controversial and hard to make. These hurdles in the plot should have us observing the basic human nature and mental struggle to make the right decision, or why they made the wrong decision, and moral dilemma/struggle. I would expect a story with a human falling into such a sci-fi setting like this to have to go through these questions.
This would have added more layers to the story and improved the quality.
One last thing, commas. This book is missing some.
Regardless of my low rating, I did enjoy it. Still interested in all the characters, and the changing traditions. A lot going on.. I had expected Finn to put his healing skills to work and be more of a bridge between the Northern and Southern Zargonnii people. I know.... It's PNR and all. It is a big universe. Just, too much thrown in mid book. Visualizing one scene, marveling the wonderful world in my head; and in an instance it's different to what imagined from the story. Connecting all universes was rushed as well. All in all, did not enjoy it as much as the first two. Maybe I expected both characters to be more useful of their skills.
Looking at the released date, looks like I won't get to find out what happens with the separation of male and female Zargonnii people. Will there be more?
In this one, Zargannii males travel to Earth in search of the remaining females. Reading New world I only got a glimpse of what was happening to Earth in the beginning, but here you can actually see the end result and it's not pretty. I understand that the Zargannii are solely interested in females, but it's still cruel to leave what's left of the male population on the dying planet. Just saying. I liked Finn's character from the first book, so It was nice seeing him finally getting some love, he deserved it. Also, I like that in this book we get the chance to learn more about other planets and other types of aliens. All in all, still enjoying the series.
3 1/2 Maybe a little more than 3 as it was a little interesting for certain. She takes us to several worlds as the Zargonnii warrior chases down his attached mate. Most of the alien see humans as play things, or pets. Luckily for Bethany, Finn has an attachment and wants her back. We get to see more of the mind control aliens and how the humans seem to suck in their abilities. It is interesting but by the end I was ready for it to end. This is the last of the audible escape titles in this series. I went to her New World series and it is not as interesting or fun but works. This is a shoot off of that one. So far this is the better.
I found this book by accident and I'm so glad I did. It's s great sci-fi adventure. You travel from earth to space and then to several different worlds, all while learning about the different charterers. This book is 3rd and the series and even though I haven't read the the others I don't feel like I'm missing any part of the story.
This book was good but i definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the other books in the series. It was cool to get to see some other worlds, but over all it was basically the same as the first two books and i guess I'm just kind of over it at this point. Still a good enjoyable read, but overall kind of boring after reading the first two.
This series is really funny and the heroes are odd loking and with amazing personalities. The series is like chips, you just keep going once you start. If you want quick, fast paced, and sometimes cute alien romance jump in!
The story of the ladies rescue was good. Finn was very sweet. I seriously wanna read Bertha's book and what mate she ends up with though 😄 that will be interesting.
I'm really enjoying reading this series. Love the characters and how they live. The adventures they go on are hairising. Well done C L Scholey, a great read for any who love Scifi, fantasies, adventure, with lots of action .
Well, it won me over! Not one for opting this genre too much I couldn’t believe how much I was taken in by the story and the characters. I truly LOVE and appreciate the creative brilliance from the author. Although alien, Finn manages to gain Bethany’s trust as she learns to understand him through body language and her own awareness of him and Blu. Bethany is quite aware that their time on Earth is almost over and her only chance of a possible survival is by leaving this world with Finn and Blu.
As Bethany quickly picks up on his language it becomes even more apparent that Finn means no harm. And it isn’t too long of being in Finn’s presence, and the close proximity she has to him, that her feelings towards him become a little more physical! Yes, this is a hot read as well as being suspenseful and fun!
Finn longs for a human mate as he knows that they can offer so much more than physical intimacy alone. He wants somebody to love and care for him emotionally too. Zargonnii females live separately from their males and only get together during the Holiday (mating) times. Finn wants so much more than this. And, the minute he meets Bethany, she opens his eyes and he knows that she is the one he wants.
After Finn helps Bethany and her female friends escape planet Earth before it all falls under water, Bethany and he begin quite the adventure that she could have never imagined – experiencing new planets and life forms, as well as being threatened by some. Bethany’s life is purely in Finn’s hands. She is scared and fearful, and yet she knows that Finn will stop at nothing to keep her safe. To keep her his!
“… Finn had no idea the depth of his emotions for her until that very second. Someone loved him. He then realized Bethany was right; for a warrior, he was sensitive. In his arms lay his destiny, his love, his life, his everything. He’d murder ten thousand cyrons if he had to, to keep her safe. Finn grinned at the thought. Sensitive, maybe, a bad ass, for sure.”
Bethany’s Heart is packed with passion, fun and adventure. I would recommend this read to sci-fi romance fans who like to read suspenseful stories with hot love scenes and characters that enchant.
Bethany’s Heart (Unearthly World #3) was provided by Torrid Press (part of Whiskey Creek Press) in return for an honest and fair review.
Bethany's Hearth is the third installment of the Unearthly World Series. So far this one is my favorite story. Finn just steals your heart from the beginning (even though he stole mine in the first when we met him)and Bethany is a fighter fighting to help her group stay alive on a destructive Earth.
Finn is the healer for the North Zargonnii and wants to find a human for himself to love and be loved by. He is like most Zargonnii and remembers what it feels like being abandoned by his mother and the feelings he doesn't feel when on Holiday with a Zargonnii female. After meeting his brother, Kobe from the second book, he sees that a human can give him all the love he wants and even a child that he will help raise whether male or female.
Bethany was raised to live on the land and knows how to survive if needed. However, she didn't grow up when the world was becoming destructive and its an eat or be eaten world now. She feels responsible for the group of women because a few followed her to her hometown when the world was starting to turn destructive.
Finn and Bethany's relationship is explosive! Finn knows what he wants and he wants Bethany. Bethany tries to fight the attraction she has to Finn, but after getting to know him and seeing he's just as sensitive as he is a warrior she knows she's lost her heart.
More allies are formed between some of the other aliens and Zargonnii's as well as new worlds discovered. I would definitely recommend this book! One person I'm excited to see and really hope he gets a book is Blu. Can't wait to see what's in store for us next!
Another entertaining book by C.L. Scholey! I feel like Scholey is reading my mind!!
Every complaint that I had before would be fixed or at least better in the next book. My main complaint would be that I didn’t get to see how the humans lived before they were on the space ship with the Zargonnii. The second book went over briefly Zuri’s time on another planet she crashed on before the Zargonnii found her and this book definitely gave you more details before Finn and Blu found her and the other females. I’m convinced this author is going back in time reading my complaints and then improving them in the next book.
We got more of a look at how badly Earth has gotten and also we got kind of a time frame for when it happened. Scholey still doesn’t specify on the year (which is fine) but she gave us a time line on when Earth started to get destroyed which I appreciated. I love little details like that so then I can put together the story in my head better.
This book had more adventures in it and we got to see many different planets which was super cool. I love how imaginative authors can be! They are so talented! If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you’ll really like this one. I like how different each book is. They all go through different struggles and events that make each book seem like a new adventure.

I think like the first two books in the series more than this one🤔 I have to say book 3 was still very entertaining. I do love how fast pace the author immediately gets you into the story.
Pros I loved both of the main characters. I loved Finn's sensitivity towards Bethany and how unique he was from all the other characters around him. I also really enjoyed Bethany and how she took everything is strides.
Cons I felt like Finn should have been more mad when they took Bethany and almost killed her but he seems to just hit the alien and be okay after that there's really none of that dominance that I thought I'd see from him which wasn't bad just a little disappointing.
Overall a great read with a very sweet Romance and a good storyline.
Yes I would read more books by this author. Yes I would recommend this book to others.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was fast paced and not as good as the first two. There wasn't much character growth and it felt like too many things were happening to stay focused. I was hoping for more from Finn, he is after all a doctor and that was forgotten after he took the females from Earth. The female had distinctive survival instincts and experience but that was completely useless and forgotten once she left Earth. Many of the endearing qualities of the males from the first book are non-existent in the third....it's like reading a completely different series. It went downhill after the first couple of chapters. I found myself skimming most of it just to get back on track which went by way too fast.
Bethany's Heart(Unearthly World Book 3)By C.L.SCHOLEY
So glad the series continues with her wonderful addition.Wondering now who the baby boy belongs to ..hopefully the answer will be in the next addition that I hope she continues with this fantastic series. Her in-depth worlds, descriptions and imagination is startlingly effective way to draw you into each of these stories. Making your reading a pleasant experience with her wonderful emotionally charged characters surviving and thriving desperately challenging situations where twist of fates leads to a HEA. SO GRAB YOUR COPY AND ENJOY!!!
Earth is a waste land and death is imminent. Rescue appears in the form of two huge , furry creatures whose language seems to be a series of grunts and growls. Thus begins the story of Bethany and Finn. This was the first time I have read this author and I was impressed by the details by which she/he (?) drew the picture of alien worlds and the creatures that inhabited them. The story moved right along with the characters developing nicely. Adventures kept our hero/heroine busy and the story moving along. I will probably seek out the other earlier two books to read . Which is my way of saying I enjoyed reading this book and you might as well.
Bethany's Heart was a wonderful read. I enjoyed the insight into the other alien races as well as the adventure involved. Bethany is a strong and courageous lead and the leading man is smart and considerate! I also really enjoyed the side stories that talked about a certain squawking woman...haha I think if I had to choose something to improve- I would have loved the book to be a bit longer with more conversations between leading lady and man. :)
However, read this 3 times already and preordered the sequel- so regardless I am very in love!
It was Ok. No may favorite from CL Scholey. I felt like more races and future stories were introduced through this book instead of the story between Finn and Bretany. Their jump through planets and civilization was fun but I didn't get their conection since they were mostly separated from each other. It was a shame because I really wanted the good doctor to get a proper HEA. I didn't feel the story much but I loved the world that CL Scholey was able to wave.
