When Lord Harris Cynfell is injured helping his twin brother rescue a damsel in distress, how does he get thanked? He’s abandoned in a notorious den of vice.
Which happens to be owned by the most beautiful woman he’s ever met—the fallen Miss Anna Dubois.
Unfortunately, his Cynfell charm fails him and Anna appears immune to him. When he meets her again several months later, he can’t resist having another try at cracking that icy façade. Even with his injury drawing pity from the lovely society ladies, he hasn’t found himself interested in anyone else recently.
Anna is in London for one reason only—to find the child she was forced to abandon all those years ago. She certainly isn’t interested in Harris Cynfell, a notorious charmer and seducer. She’s had her fill of charming men and if she managed to fight her attraction to him while nursing him better, she certainly is not going to give in now.
So why is it the attraction between them is so hard to fight? She’s dealt with every type of man as they walked through her door at the den of vice she runs and yet Harris Cynfell seems to get under her skin and if she let him, he’d certainly be under her bodice. After all her experiences with men, she knows he’s not any different but when they share a passionate kiss, she can’t help wonder…would it be so harmful to indulge in a little pleasure with the handsome lord?
Samantha Holt resides in Warwickshire, England, with her twin girls, having followed her soldier husband around the UK for nearly 10 years. Growing up in Hampshire, she was inspired by the authors Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell, both of whom lived and wrote only miles from her home town.
Samantha loves the romance genre and has been devouring romantic literature for as long as she can remember. History is another passion of hers and she loves to combine her love for history and romance into exciting and passionate tales.
Totally enjoyed Harris Cynfell's and Anna's story as they are carryover's from Book 5 in the series. Both characters are likeable and somehow go against all societal norms and find true loves. Nice books 6 novella in this series.
Like others before me this is okay as a stand-alone story in the series but it helps to read the ones before it, which of course I have only read Julian and Viola's story so not taking my own advice apparently.
Anna and Harris both defy societal rules but not in any way to my thinking that is hurtful or malicious to others, in doing so the pair find their match not only in bed but out as well.
Happily the rest of the family are allowed a bit of page time, unhappily at first but that ends up working out for the best after all.
Also we have a short epilogue showing the couple settled and still happy 12 years later.
3.5 Stars (4 enjoy Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden, Sophie Jordon)
I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series).
The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable. I really did like the H/H for this book; very well paired as a couple. I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me).
writing style is easy to follow, humorous moments, the give and take dialogue enjoyable.
romantic/sexual content is written well throughout the book (kissing, oral, love making). I’d rate it 2/5 hotness and steam.
would absolutely recommend the book and the series even though there short stories. Will take 2-3 hours to read each book in the series.
I still enjoyed the book for a one time read and the series.
I think this is my favorite of the brothers, for no particular reason I could say. And I like the h as well, and can’t say why, will read the next book and see how it goes. This couple just touched my heart somehow.
A likeable Cynfell brother, Ash's twin. Harris had lustful intentions but cam up to scratch with out any coercion. Anna needed him badly. Loved the ending.
“Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The Cynfell brothers are the very embodiment of a sinful existence. But could the right woman change that?”
#6 in the wildly popular, “Cynfell Brothers” series, but each story can be read as a stand alone. Although, I would recommend reading the others in this amazing series.
This is Harris Cynfell and Miss Anna Dubois' story. Ms. Holt has once again written a heartfelt, dramatic, and passionate tale of the famous Cynfell Brothers. With this one she has added a touch of humor, sprinkled with a secret, thrown in some spice, and a charming rogue whose charms doesn’t work on this feisty, independent lady, to make a wickedly delicious tale. Harris, while trying to help his twin and a damsel in distress, finds the one woman his charms doesn't work on. Anna, goes to London for one reason and one reason only, she can’t be distracted by Harris. Can they find forgiveness, healing and love, amidst their passion and angst? Another wonderful story! A quick read! I have enjoyed the Cynfell brothers and the ladies who tame them and win their hearts. A must read! Fans of Historical Romance, the "Cynfell Brothers" series, drama, well developed characters, great storytelling, and passionate kisses, are sure to enjoy Harris and Anna's story. I look forward to the next installment. Received for an honest review from the author.
This book makes me want to read Cynfel Brothers Books 1-5, not because you need to read them before reading this one, but because if they are as good as this one, then I want to read them too. I am more into contemporary romances, so for me to enjoy a historical romance, it has to be really good, and I very much enjoyed reading this one. I like a smart, feisty woman, and that is what you get with Anna. I also love a historical romance that has a man that could care less with being always proper, and that is what you get with Harris. It is a wonderful story that I really enjoyed. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and now I am going backwards to read the other books in this series.
4.5 stars Another winner in this series. Harris is the sixth brother to get his story told. These brothers don't shy away from scandal that's a good thing for Harris because he's falling for Anna. Anna is the owner of a den of vice. These two met before when Harris was nursing a wound at said den. Now they meet once again in London. Anna is on a personal mission and Harris is on a mission to charm Anna. He has his work cut out for him because Anna is resisting him at every turn. The attraction between these two can only be resisted so long. I really liked Harris for the way he stands up for and treats Anna. Very engaging story with awesome characters. I so loved the epilogue in this one. For Harris and especially for Anna truly beautiful.
If you're looking for a light-hearted, sensual, erotic, romantic book to pass an afternoon or night with, any one of the books in this delightful series will do. Holt does such a thorough job of describing the characters and drawing you into the world of the Cynfell brothers with intelligent dialogue and original plots. This book is a great example. This isn't my favorite book of the series, but I highly recommend and rate it 4.5. I look forward to the next book of this series to take me away for another afternoon of reading a good solid book. No dead spots. No overly descriptive passages that bore the reader to death. Just a great storyline with interesting characters and a sexy plot.
It took me a while to get through this historical English romance. I just couldn't care about the characters, although they are so shiny good. Lord Harris Cynfell has fallen in love with Miss Anna Dubois, who cared for him while he healed from being shot and maimed in the leg while trying to help his twin brother Ash. Ash is a long time plutonic friend to Miss Anna Dubois and her infamous establishment. Anna is looking for her lost bastard son and Harris is falling in love with Anna. I couldn't get into it. Although I did like the author's other works like Sinful Confessions. 137 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
Sinful Temptations by Samantha Holt is an entertaining book. Harris and Anna's story is drama filled. This well written story has fantastic, well developed characters. Ms Holt has added a bit of humor and spice to round out this book. There is very little action and angst in Sinful Temptations, making it an almost relaxing read. Sinful Temptations is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from the talented Samantha Holt in the future. Sinful Temptations is book 6 in the Cynfell Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Another brilliant story starring the Cynfell Brothers, this time it is Harris, who is recovering from a gunshot wound and Anna who helped look after him.
Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The Cynfell brothers are the very embodiment of a sinful existence. But could the right woman change that?
Lust
When Lord Harris Cynfell is shot helping his twin brother Ash rescue Lila. He’s abandoned in a notorious den of vice, Stourbridge. Which happens to be owned by the most beautiful woman he’s ever met, the fallen Miss Anna Dubois. Unfortunately, his Cynfell charm fails him and Anna appears immune to him. When he meets her again several months later in London, he can’t resist having another try at cracking that icy façade. Even with his injury drawing pity from the lovely society ladies, he hasn’t found himself interested in anyone else recently. Anna is in London for one reason only, to find the child she was forced to abandon all those years ago. Anna is a strong woman who has worked hard to rise after being thrown out by her parents, she owns & runs Stourbridge. Harris is a typical Cynfell – gorgeous. He has been attracted to Anna ever since she helped nurse him after he was shot. The attraction between the two of them sizzles until it finally combusts. Another very enjoyable book in the series, all of which I recommend
This book was great. I loved Anna. She wants to get something back that she had to give up years ago and doesn’t have time for Harris before or now. It is something to see why she cannot fight the attraction they seem to have since she has a background that you think would of made it so she wouldn’t fall for his kind.
