Tasha Salter is caught in a quandary: she wants to fall in love, but past trauma keeps her from commitment. The only people she trusts are her family, especially in this time of treason against the Kalquorian Empire. When she and her three-year-old cousin are abducted by the revolt’s shadowy leader, matters of the heart no longer apply. She finds herself in a battle for their survival.

Clan Falinset left Kalquor in self-imposed exile when their parents’ illegal activities threatened their honor. Dramok Falinset, Imdiko Nur, and Nobek Wekniz only want to be left alone to live their quiet lives. Yet the drumbeat of war is sounding as traitorous forces prepare to attack Kalquor. Worse still, the revolt’s leader wants his son Falinset at his side … and refuses to take no for an answer.

A wild escape attempt throws Tasha and her young charge into the reluctant care of Clan Falinset. With betrayal in their past and war in their future, there is no reason to find love. Yet passion flares between those who should be enemies, leading Clan Falinset and Tasha to realize that they are not on opposite sides after all. Together they have the chance to heal.

Yet the sins of the fathers have come to rest on the shoulders of their sons. Falinset must make an impossible choice: bow to his father’s blackmail and turn traitor to the Empire or doom his clan by saving the young princess of Kalquor and the woman he’s fallen in love with.

Contains BDSM situations including bondage, D/s, and multiple partners.

Tracy St. John

Born in a small town on the coast of North Carolina to strict parents, Tracy St. John started out as a quiet, shy child. She was typical for her small town: studying hard for good grades, fishing with her dad on Saturdays and attending church on Sundays.

When adolescence kicked in, so did full-on rebellion. School, family and church fell by the wayside as Tracy partied too hard with the wrong people. Somehow surviving her wild-child phase, she pursued several careers before finally settling on video production and writing.

A string of failed relationships prompted her to give up on love…which of course meant fate immediately tossed Mr. Right her way. After only 4 months of dating, she eloped with the love of her life. They just celebrated 14 years of wedded bliss.

Prior to penning her first erotic novel ‘Alien Embrace’, Tracy wrote commercials, television and radio promos, and training films for various government entities.

Tracy St. John now lives in coastal Georgia with her husband and son. She still enjoys fishing, and you’ll often find her haunting train museums with her locomotive-loving son. Besides writing, she also works in video production both in front of and behind the camera. She’s usually cast as the gun-toting bad gal, getting handcuffed in the end. She has no complaints.

Fun kinky sex, and it was great with the triad of double-cocked Kalquorians and their Earther woman. A little spanking, some bondage, D/s and aggressive breast play was entertaining. I even liked the plot which was a kidnap scenario and escape, but the repetitive elements of relaying events or feelings, the same events from 4 different individuals and none of the details change was boring. The story slowed down to a crawl and honestly, I'm not sure why I finished reading it. Some aggressive editing to eliminate the duplicate info dumps and speed up the pace, and this story would have been a 3.5-4 star read. As it is, it squeaks to the finish with a 2.

Excellent book!
As the stories in Kalquorian universe become more complicated, the storyline also becomes more interesting and more addictive.
(Although I have to admit I was a bit worried when I was reading the first scene with the 3 tarzans, but then the real story took off and I got hooked!)
There were so many things I loved in this book:
1. Clan Falinset. They have become one of my favourite clans. It felt real that they are so close together, like a complete union. Great chemistry. I am looking forward to reading their book in 'clan beginnings'. I loved the hints about their relationship the book offered like the two of them where forced to clan with Falinset and for a long time they were planning to kill their Dramok. When can we have this story? By the way, Falinset was great with his guilty feelings and his daddy issues. Love the scene he got drunk with Tasha.
2. Maf. He is the perfect villain. Ruthless, he doesn't care if the empire is lost as long as it is not contaminated with the earth women. At the same time, he is just a simple daddy who wants her rebellion son to love him and follow his steps. Oh well other dads buy their sons ponies, he bought his son clanmates, so what?
3. Jessica and Noelle. It is the first time Jessica is acting her role as an empress and a mother and she is convincing. Noelle as a strong little princess is perfect.
4. Narpok. I don't want to reveale too much about her role. I am just clad she is back and that I am waiting for her book.
5. Old friends. Happy to see old friends like Lidon, Govi, Raxstad -although it was brief.
6. Sex. All the love scenes were great and they had a reason to be where they were. I am sick of erotica books which throw erotica scenes around because they have to and without particular reasons.
All the love scenes in this book -and in most of John's books- are well developed, have their reason, their time in the story and they are adapted to each character of the book correctly.

Anyhow, if you are new in the kalquorian universe it does not really matter. Just read the book and go backwards to the series. If you liked even just one book and this particular type of stories and writing, I guarantee that you will get hooked. And reading the rest of the books will be like solving a jigsaw puzzle.
I recommend as a parallel reading with this book, two more books:
A. Alien Rule - Where we meet Jessica and Narpok and we learn a bit about kalquorian politics
B. Alien Intiscretions - Where we meet Tasha, Maf and the civil war almost begins

Happy reading!

What an amazing book! I am totally in love with all things Kalquor! Even though this is book ten of the Clans of Kalquor series, Tracy St. John continues to give us fresh stories and interesting scenarios! I am literally addicted to this world and look forward to every book! Of course there are more and more characters that deserve their stories told so I can't wait to whose tale is told next!

Each book kind of builds on the previous books, but they can be read independently of each other. Some previous characters do make appearances that enhance the story but you are never lost.

First things first. Kalquor clans are made up of three Kalquor species: Dramok-the clan leader, Imdiko-the clan nurturer or healer, and Nobek-the clan protector. Most clans would like to add a Matara to give them heirs, but Kalquor is dying. A virus wiped out the fertility of the Kalquor females. The only choice they have is to procreate with Earthers, that have shown to be a good match, and develop a hybrid race. There is a growing force that wants to keep Kalquor free of Earthers and the hybrids. They do not care that the race would completely die out, they want Kalquor to be pure when it does.

Civil war is looming. Those currently in power, the Imperial Clan, have an Earther for a Matara and have hybrid children set to eventually inherit the throne. The opposition wants a pure Kalquor and wants to rid the planet of Earthers and the hybrids they have bred.

Tasha is a Matara in the making and has been "interviewing" clans. She's not real serious though because her past gives her issues. When she and her three-year old cousin are kidnapped, she's forced to dig deep, stay alive, and find a way to escape. When an opportunity presents itself, she's thrust into the care of Clan Falinset. Although reluctant, Tasha and Clan Falinset find they need each other in order to get the young princess to safety.

This book ticks all the boxes! I loved it. Clan Falinset fast became one of my favorite clans! They felt raw and real. No fluff. They are sound by themselves, but when Tasha was added-wham! The chemistry is explosive and she seemed to be the puzzle piece the clan never knew they were missing! Their sex is off the charts! Very inventive and seemed to have specific real implications within the story. The author didn't just add scenes in for the heck of it. What was there-and there was a lot, was there for specific reasons. I like that.

Overall this story was sound, it has intriguing characters, and we are even visited by some old friends. This is definitely a favorite in the series for me and I continue to look forward to whatever Tracy St. John comes up with next!

Best Alien Romance series EVER!

This series is one of my favorites, each book gets better and better. The characters have depth and the plot is enough to keep you reading, not wanting to put the book down. The sex scenes are steamy and OH My...three aliens to clan and love at once! However, the stories in these series isn't sex with paragraphs around the sex; the novels have what it takes to make Great read - the love scenes just make the books that much more. I was a little surprised this book opens with sex and the heroine, but it doesn't take away from the story as it's written with understanding as you read more chapters...and this book had more one on one scenes with the hero's than previous books - the we author knows how to write them to keep the reader wanting more- can't wait for the next book!

Great story. Even better was Narpok's roll she has become my hero in so many ways. Knowing the history involved has give this book a depth that at time took my breath away.

Exciting

I've been looking forward to this part of the overall storyline, and this book does not disappoint on that front. It was exciting and thrilling, and kept me waiting. The only thing I would want to change about it is the lack of MM.

This is an amazing series that has so many different storylines and characters make them like separate series within the series. I lovr the royal family and their extended family as well as Shalia's Diary.
This book continued the story of the Royal cousins Tasha and Cissy, this is Natasha's story. She totally took me by surprise, turned out Tasha is a bit wilder and even had a more dangerous side than her twin. The story is a bit darker as things get closer to the civil war and the evil facing Kalgor is coming out full force. Reading the books in order is highly recommended especially those that begin with Jessica and the other royal members. All filled with adventure, lots of comic edge, thrills, excitement, a totally mesmerizing world created by Tracy St.John, and lots of very hot Kalgorian men.

I agree with my goodreads friend, V. Brilliant addition to the Kalquor series. I am totally in love with Ms.St.John's Kalquor world - the original series of which this is the latest, and all the spinoffs. From Book 9, when Tasha was first introduced, I had no idea she had such a rich and troubled past, or that she possessed the grit demonstrated in this novel. As in real life, the best characters are both brilliant and deeply flawed. Two thumbs up. A great read.

Those unfamiliar with Kalquor should start with book one, "Alien Embrace".

*I received a free copy to read and review for wicked reads review team*
This story is about Tasha and clan Falinset, it was a good continuation the the series.
Civil war is heating up in this book and Tasha and the Clan find themselves in the middle of it all. Making the best of a bad situation they get to know and enjoy each other.
There is a lot more story and a lot less sex in those book which I enjoyed as we got to know the characters a lot better.

I feel the next book will be even more exciting as civil war is now a certainty.

My bad but not really bad

I normally do not read sci-fi. I started reading this book and was confused with the names of then clan members. It wasn't until many chapter into the book that I look at the top of mr Fire to see this was the 10th book. Opps! But i still enjoyed the story. Good job of making it easy to follow without knowing the other books.

This one was my least favourite in the whole series.
It felt rushed. I didn't connect with any of the characters and their background of the parents was always mention (it was part of the story line) but it was such a basic background story line how their parents did something wrong and they are staying quite and hidden due to not getting their parents in trouble that in that it made the whole reason they were always pushed around pathedic.
I just didn't connect with this book.
What I liked about the other books in the series is their were parts that made you see the male bonding between the clan members and how they fit together. In this this book it was very mineral.
The other annoying bit in the book was the main female character escaped from her kidnappers and runs into the clan and on the first night sleeps with one of the clan members. That's it. There's no sexual tension, she just thought he was her type of good looking and slept with him. Even though she was keep in a camp for days no torment, no back bone, she just sleeps with a member of the clan. Then sleeps with another the next day and couple days later sleeps with the last of the clan member before they do it has a group. And I skipped over some of them due I didn't connect with characters.
It felt like a basic erotica story, with no real story line, no character, and no substance.
It's a petty because what I liked about the series it didn't feel like a erotica story, it was a story with sex scenes in it. Because they had a story line, substance and the character just made you want to read what happens to them.
I know Tracy st. john is now does doing a lot of different series, but maybe too many and rushing to get the books out that she is missing her mark. I would rather have a book with substance and full in love it come out once a year. Then have this type of book and have three released a year.
I hope her next book gives me a better opinion of her.

I put off reading this one in the series for a reason that I cannot remember now. This was a good read. It had a good intense plot, plenty of good characters, and a little less sex than usual - I am complaining. It made room for more of the story to develop and breathe. I’m glad I went ahead and bought the book. It was well worth the price.

I was ambivalent about reading St. John's newest "Clans of Kalquor" release. I wasn't a huge fan of the previous book, but figured I'd liked the series overall, and so I took the plunge.

We met Tasha Salter in "Alien Indiscretions" -- she's the annoying Cissy Salter's twin. Tasha's trying to settle into her new life on Kalquor, but finds herself on the periphery of her new family connections -- an onlooker rather than a participant in all their loving, caring, and laughter. Clan Falinset has been forced to turn their backs on Kalquorian society -- their families have been disgraced, and it's just easier to live in the relative isolation of Kalquor's moon. However, when they decide to help Tasha and Empress Jessica's daughter Noelle escape after they're kidnapped by the Basma, they're dragged into the confrontation between the Basma's resistance movement and those loyal to the Kalquorian empire. As Tasha and the Clan grow closer, she realizes that she can trust these quietly forceful men to take care of her and Noelle, but can she trust them with her heart as well?

It's a nice story about the damage that results from keeping dark secrets. Tasha has Baggage that makes it difficult to have real emotional connections with anyone; the Clan: Falinset, Nur, and Wekniz, each have shadows in their pasts that have forced them into isolation. When they make the hard choice to face the consequences of their families' disgrace, they come to realize that The Truth Will Set You Free....but it won't be easy.

However, although I liked the relationship that develops between Tasha and the guys and enjoyed their story...there were a lot of strange inconsistencies and plot holes. For example, one of the primary conflicts is between Falinset and the Basma, who...as it turns out....is his 'natural' father. He keeps trying desperately to have Falinset acknowledge their relationship and join him. However -- why would someone with the coldly calculating nature of the Basma be so obsessed? I felt like that question wasn't answered. Then there's the surprise with Narpok, who's been a relatively minor character in the series until now....and suddenly she becomes a major player here. Then there are all those miraculous escapes and the amazing coincidences and unlikely happenings -- I expect a few, but too many just annoy me....

So...3 stars.

I liked that the alien civil war activity was ramped up, but Tasha and Clan Falinset weren't that interesting to me. The best part of this book was Narpok and the women in the prisoner camp. Narpok finally comes back to herself and the scenes between her and the princess are very touching.
