Val Knight: Owner of Bound and Bared. A man with secrets. His past filled with nightmares. His present ruled by control. His future- he didn’t have one, not until her.

Miranda Price: A desperate woman with nothing to lose. A woman who had only one thing to sell- herself. Her body a bargaining chip in the race to save the ones she loved. Her mind haunted by ghosts. Her heart had given up. Then she met him.

So as I understand Christine Monroe is a new author and Unbound (Bound & Bared #1) is her first book baby. So high five to that girlfriend.
 photo images_zps7dilfcix.jpg
So right down to the nitty gritty, this was an excellent first novel and I enjoyed Unbound very much.
I did have a few slight issues that dragged this down a bit for me, corrected well the only way is up.
So first a warning this story deals with some disturbing subject matter. If rape and abuse are potential triggers for you it's probably best to give Unbound a wide berth.
I found this disturbing and I don't have this issue so you have been fair warned.
Unbound deals with the story of Miranda Price and Val Knight, (love the name such a play on what he is to Miranda Her Knight).
Two damaged individuals, both trying to just deal and survive.
Miranda Price is looking for a saviour hence going to Val, and well val is not looking for anything really just to be in control of his own life.
Now I don't want to give away the whole plot so I will just give my impressions on unbound and what I loved, followed by what I thought needed a bit of tweaking.
Here goes,
The storyline was one that kept my attention it had enough to keep things moving along nicely without leaving me bored, it ticked all my boxes and was a great addition to the dark genre.
Unbound also had great fleshed out secondary characters, I adored Thorn and Selena, the impressions they gave really invested me in the characters futures. I want to know so much more about them.
There was also lots of sizzling hot interactions between Miranda and V, fanning myself here.

Phew! These two seriously need to get a room or a whole house he he.
now the bits that I struggled with,
Would have liked a bit more of a back story with Miranda and Val, just to get a bit more of a feel for and connection with them and what has made them, I still don't really know exactly what has happened, know I could make an educated guess.
also I found some of the flow of unbound for me felt a bit disjointed and I found myself re-reading parts and still being none the wiser,
I also struggled a bit with the jumping from head to head I would have preferred if Miranda and Vals POV could have alternated chapters instead of skipping so much.
So, in a nutshell, this is an unpolished gem that was a great start to a new series.
I am very much looking forward to seeing where the author will go with this.
The relationship for me between V and Miranda was very sweet a bit kinky, not that dark at all so don't let this put you off. the darkness for me was more about the abuse and rape and passed events for both our pair. Together these two could give you a toothache.
Thank you to The author Christine Monroe who provided me with a free readers copy Of Unbound this is my own unbiased personal opinion.

3.5 bound and bared stars

We are not a fairy tale; we are more. We are stars colliding, violent and dark, but more beautiful than the sun.

Unbound is the first book I have read from Christine Monroe. It is also her debut novel. I definitely enjoyed reading.it. There were parts I loved and also parts I felt I needed more. Unbound was a book filled with erotic and pleasure that certainly made my heart tingke in the right places.

Unbound is a book about Miranda, a young woman who has been through abuse and violence in the hands of her father. She seeks out Val Knight, a rich man who owns a club to help her. He proposes Miranda to be his for a month. But then form a connection together. Unbound totally consumed snd comprlled me on a different level. It had some dark moments that gave a different edge and also nail biting moments that had me on the edge on my seat. Sexy. Seductive. Emotional. Addictive. I was definitely drawn to certain parts of the story. However, I felt that some parts needed more depth. It took me a while to get into the story. Some moments were rushed thst I found myself losing attention. Although Unbound has some weaker moments, the book was really so interesting and so intriguing to me.

Miranda is a heroine that I truly loved. She was. loyal, sassy and sarcastic. She had an amazing combination of strength snd vulnerability that made her such a likable character. Val Kinght was a man on another stratosphere. He was dominant, apha, harsh, cold and calculated. However, he had flaws that drew me in more. Miranda and Val had amazing chemistry that I could not help but fall in love with more.

Unbound is certainly a book that I definitely liked. The writing flowed even though there were some mistakes in grammar that I ignored. I definitely will be reading more books from Christine Monroe. I see that she has so much potential in her writing.

ARC provided by author Christine Monroe in exchange for an honest review.

Just finished this one. I liked the concept of the story line but felt that it was just a tad bit lite for me. The story didn't really grasp my attention like I thought it would. It just felt like it wasn't deep enough and that things talked about in the book were just barely there.
Val, owns a club that he has stayed hidden in to ensure that his past doesn't come back to haunt him. He has strict rules and if you disobey, you pay the price. Till one day a Blonde walks into his club and changes him forever.
Miranda, walks into Val's club looking for help. Help from the only person she can think of that will not say no... he father's enemy. The one person who said No to her father.
I'm hoping that as the author writes more, her stories will become more in depth and feelings will be felt from the reader. Will certainly give the next book a try when it's released.

Dark twisted read

Miranda is trying to escape her demons. Val is also fighting his past. The tension between these too is incredibly hot. I don't want to give ANYTHING away, so I will say this is definitely a must read. You will not be disappointed in the slightest. Can't wait to read more in this series. This book can be read as a standalone.

Digital Copy Received by the Author for Honest Opinion:

This author is to be bookmarked in your TO be REad list immeditately!!! For all those who love mafia love and revenge and action and kidnapping and being sold to a man, this book is definitely for them to read and read and keep on reading until you're done with it and even then this author doesn't seem to have an end to catering to the reader's desires.

Val is tall dark hotty owner of a bar that attends and satisfies different needs of its clients while Miranda is a daughter of a man who sells and keeps women bounded. It is a difficult time for Miranda because in order set herself and the ones whom she loves free from the clutches of her deadly and fatal father, she lands in the hands of Val, who is even more ruthless than her father.

It is start of destruction and end of another. The author had me holding tight onto the story to know what real shit was going on and I was utterly confused at the starting but when the story went on I didn't stop at just the guy meeting the girl, it went on with stripping, fucking, chasing, kidnapping, shooting, saving and so much mother fucking more.

Val was the kind who never anyone touch him or get anywhere close to him, but Miranda was one such woman who not only chose and threatened his proximity, but she fucking became the queen to his broken down and fucked up battered pieces of his own heart.

The story hold such a poignant background story of both Val and Miranda and it is worth reading for the people who are willing to invest a full day or two or even more because even if you simply cannot put it down in one go, one would need break time from the heavy scenes, the ones which might trigger worthy or make you cry into a mess or even give you a mind blowing wordgasm.

I thank this author personally, for giving me this opportunity to divulge the secrets on this club, of this pair, the intricacies of their lives and the salvation they seek. I am mind blown by her words and I am looking forward to read further from her. Her words are not enough yet to feed and mellow the hunting monster for sex, salvage and salvation growing within me!!!! <3 <3 <3

This is Christine's debut novel, and wow it's good. Now I would recommend if you have any triggers to sadism or sexual violence, that the reading of this book may not be for you, as it is very dark and definitely not a fairytale by any means.

The story is erotic, dark, gut wrenching, and very gritty. The characters come to life and you identify with them. Miranda is our leading lady, and we first see her desperate, broken, haunted and pleading for help from our leading man Val Knight the King of Bound & Bare, a club of his making, where his rules apply to all who chose to play and work there.

Val is dark and menacing, events in his past have made him this way, because of them he has to have control, over everything, and no-one may touch him. He puts out this cold, unfeeling persona, and he is seething with barely contained anger and violence. Till she arrives, Miranda challenges his control, inadvertently touching him, which ignites a fire in his soul, but to allow her closer endangers her as his darkness is all consuming and he will not let her see it.

Miranda begs him to help her as she has escaped from her sadistic, controlling father, a very rich man who enjoys playing with and breaking his toys for sexual gratification. She is desperate, damaged, and needing a saviour.
Miranda she gives Val, attitude, she is fiery, sarcastic, but still very vulnerable, her bruises are evidence, of a hellish existence, but she is stronger than Val or we expect.

I really fell in love with this book, yes somethings are hard to read about. I felt anger, and outrage, and disgusted at things that happened in the storyline as they were revealed, you feel like you are experiencing the things with your characters. You get a real gut punch at one point, and sit there bewildered and praying that there is more, you feel you cannot put the book down it has to be read, you need to experience it to the end. Well done Christine, cannot wait to read the next books, as Thorn is sitting there with that beautiful smile needing his story to be told.

Exciting ….

I loved the premise of this dark, thrilling and erotic romance…Val and Miranda are both damaged individuals; he is always in control but when she turns up at his club, battered and bruised, and asking for his help his carefully constructed world begins to fall apart…..

The characters take it in turns to tell the narrative which provides a useful insight into their view of events and their feelings about, and for each other but the switch between the two POVs at times occurred paragraph by paragraph and this I found confusing and affected the flow of the story…..

The imagined world is wonderfully described and the characters that interact within it, in particular the two main characters have depth and are complex and intriguing… I did think that Val’s personality was rather inconsistent and both the characters at varying times displayed random behavior but their idiosyncrasies did not directly affect my enjoyment…

Overall I thought this was an excellent, well written and exciting debut novel which would have benefited from more judicious editing…this is a really strong 3.5 star read and with a few tweaks this could have been worthy of 4-5 stars…. dark mafia is one of my go to genres and the author has demonstrated with the original concept and writing of this story that she has the potential to be amongst the best.,..I look forward to reading more from her in the future….I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! It had everything I want a great book to have!! It has a very hot alpha male named Val Knight and this is how Miranda described him,"He behaved like the night; so dark, his shadows had shadows like he would eclipse any light daring to find it's way in." The author is new to me and I will definitely be looking into more of her books!! She is so descriptive the story plays out like a movie in your mind. The bravery, tenacity and determination that Miranda had made me love and root for her throughout this book and that poor woman goes through HELL!!! I warmed up to Val and he really earned his way into my heart too!! So I highly recommend this book to people who like dark and sexy books that grab you by the throat and don't let you catch your breath until the very last word!! Enjoy!!

***TRIGGER WARNING***
Trigger warning given due to graphic rape and assault.
This book has real potential to be a 5 star read. However, with the amount of editing errors it takes away from the story. This seems to get worse as the story progresses.
Alternate POV but instead of alternating chapters this story changes randomly without warning throughout the chapter. This did get confusing at times not knowing who's POV you are reading.
The plot and flow of the story were a bit confusing in the beginning but by the end I was hook and couldn't put the book down needing to know what would happen next.
The story ends with an epilogue without cliffhanger. Book 2 seems to be a separate store of a character's introduced in this story.
This book would be good for anyone who enjoy's a very dark read that doesn't mind fair editing.

If you’re looking for cupcakes and sparkles, this isn’t the book for you. Unbound is dark. VERY dark. But where the darkness is, Val is the flame and Miranda is the moth. No matter how hard she tries, she’s drawn to him. But Val & Miranda are just MORE than that. Val can’t help but consume everything he touches, but only what HE touches. Look, I’m talking too much, and I won’t spoil this book for you. It’s beyond incredible. The passion, the dark undertones, it’s so much more ‘muchness’ than you might be ready for, but do NOT hesitate to purchase this book. It’s a testament to the spirit. This book shows you how abused youth cope into their adulthood and how they survive day by day through it all. I can’t say enough about it. A million, gazillion shiny gold stars! Bravo!

If you dont like Dark or Violence you most likely will not enjoy this book. I how LOVE dark and twisted.
Val Knight: Owner of Bound and Bared has nothing to lose Miranda Price has lost everything and is going to the one person who could either help her or kill her. When Miranda ask for Vals help he never knew how much his world would change. The group or shall I say family at Bound and Bared is not to be messed with if you touch one your gonna have to deal with them all. They all have past they want to forget and futures the dont think they should have.

After I finished reading this story, I just sat there with tears in my eyes. This story takes you places you never wanted to go, but you keep following the path because you have to know.
The story makes you cry, laugh, scream then you go back and read more.
This book is not for the faint of heart, it is a very dark and dangerous tale. It will shake you to your core. Everything you thought you knew about depravity and sadism...forget about it....this goes way beyond that, yet at the same time an incredible love story.
Cannot wait to read another of Christine's books💖

" I'm yours, V" Miranda

This book is indescribable. I honestly have not read a book that just blew me away like this. It reached inside you grabs a hold and doesn't let go. I was stunned, sad, happy, even shed a few tears. This book was also supremely sexy and dark. I adore Val. Who can blame Miranda for fighting for him. The way they finally except each other is so touching. If I could stand and clap 👏 for a book this would be it. Can't wait for the next two

A very, very dark and complex book. Warning: This book features assault and rape. If these are triggers for you please be warned. This is not a light and fuzzy romance. It is dark, disturbing and even at times cringe worthy. Full of complex broken characters and an emotional and heartbreaking story. Not for everyone and definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended. I truly enjoyed this book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Suspense, tragic upbringing, gun battles, trigger scenes, finding love when you think your world is at it's darkest. This book had all of that wrapped up in a good story! This is the first book I've read by Christine Monroe and I was not disappointed! Some of the scenes are hard to read and definitely come with a trigger warning, but they are part of the story. Val broke my heart and Miranda has the strength of a warrior. Loved it!

If rape is a trigger for you then you will not enjoy this very much. And then you have the OMG you didnt do that to me cliff hanger...lol It will leave you wanting more thats for sure.

Who's talking?

The author continued to switch which character were talking/thinking midway through the chapters. There are around 60 chapters in this book. Ridiculous! There are numerous editing errors as well as elementary writing styles. I hate to not finish a book, I want an award for completing this one. I will not pick up another book by this author.

Unbound ( Bound and Bared Book1)

The Maranda & Val story was really good even though it triggered many of my own triggers of violance as a child growing up. In the end I was able to follow the story to the end with many breaks to find it a really good story. If you are one with a history of abuse in your past this might not be the book for you. Just an FYI

This was one of the few books i truly regret reading. It just didn't do it for me. The constant POV switch was annoying as hell for me. I mean i love duel POV but when it switches after a few sentences or paragraphs it just takes away from the flow. Also i REALLY wish the author would have gotten some beta readers for this. Usually spelling or grammar errors don't bother me, but this one just had too many to let slide. Some parts of the story really confused me like from chapter 6 to chapter 7. Suddenly i had no idea what was going on and felt like i missed an entire chapter and it didn't happen just once. The characters were extremely 2 dimensional and i couldn't relate to them at all. The most annoying thing though were the metaphors. I mean this author used a metaphor for EVERYTHING and it was annoying as hell. So yeah. Didn't like this book and I'm glad it's over.

The darkest book I ever read so far

I surprised myself for liking dark romance books. My very first time to read the author Ms. Christine Monroe books. I loved the story and liked her writing.

The book is hard to put it down. If only am not working, I could finish this book in a day. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to charged my Nook while am at work, so it is ready for me waiting to catch up Val and Miranda's story. This is the darkest book I ever read so far. There are times I need a moment to stop. There are scenes that are hard to breathe but I am brave enough to finish the book.

The book is oh so good. It is so intense, funny and very sexy. You might cursed or throw your e-reader to Miranda's Dad. He is one twisted monster. I hate him to the max.

Love really can heal wounds deeper than the heart can hold. If you are willing to let go, nothing is impossible when true love strikes you like a lightning. Val and Miranda's story is very unusual. Two broken souls met and healed. It is a very hot book to read as well. I cannot wait to read the second book of the series. This book is an amazing read if you love dark romance that is so intense that blow your mind away.

I think quality control has officially been cancelled on KU books. To and Too are not interchangeable. If you can’t afford an editor then at least have your witty neighbor proofread it for a $15 bottle of wine.
