This is an interesting little book for a motor racing fan that really wasn’t paying attention until 5 years after Jimmy Clark’s death. Twelve people telling their impressions of Clark within weeks his recent death. The varying perspectives are the richness.
I was curious to learn about one of the all-time great Formula 1 champions and this book revealed not only the Driving genius Jim Clark but also the Person Jim Clark. Through the view and memories of his closest friends, the reader learns lots of intriguing facts and characteristics of Jimmy. Of course, his most dominant performances on the racing tracks cannot be missed and the memories about them are really exciting. As a huge Formula 1 fan, I wanted to get familiar with one of the best in the history of the sport and this book was what I was looking for!
Written shortly after his death in 1968, this is a compilation of remembrances by colleagues, friends and teammates of Jim Clark. Not a comprehensive biography but a series of insights into not only Clark the racing driver, but Clark the man. Also, a handy appendix with the results of all Clark’s races. A nice tribute and worthy shelf-mate to other Clark books.
