The Final Calling

Rate this book
Prophecies, tyrants, assassins, and exiled royalty aren't the things Edith Walsh thought she'd be dealing with when her training as a mage apprentice began. Her main focus is becoming an enchantress by completing the Final Calling—a grand scavenger hunt all apprentices undertake to gather items needed to craft their coveted staff and gain eternal life. This challenge can prove lethal if care isn't taken to watch one's steps. But making matters worse, Edith has also been marked for death by the Steward of the Perosian Empire, a tyrant named Rothario, all because of a pesky prophecy made centuries before her birth foretelling his demise at her hands. So what's a mage to do? Simple; accept the assistance of a sexy Perosian who's dealt with Rothario's minions for as long as he can remember. Yet Isaac wants far more than Edith's safety—she's his mate, and his fiery gaze, wicked tongue, and shameless seductions inflame her more intensely than she's ever known. Convicted of murdering the imperial family of Perosia, Isaac's spent centuries as a fugitive hunted by a homeland he doesn't recall. But his ruthless talent for survival serves him well, and there's nothing he won't do to protect Edith from the forces threatening her life, even if it means sacrificing his own.

I liked this book—a lot. This book tells the story of Edith, a mage who is on a scavenger hunt to obtain items needed for her staff; and Isaac, a very interesting demon whose story may be more than meets the eye. Isaac knows Edith is his mate but must wait while she is in mage training, but when it comes to The Calling, he knows she needs his help and is determined to give it and their adventures leads to a very good story. I think this book is the strongest in the series so far. The writing is solid and the characters well-developed. My favorite part of the story actually involves several battle/action scenes that Edith and Isaac and a few others that come along for the ride—I love action scenes and these are well-written. If you haven’t tried Angela’s writing, give them a try but start back at Book 1 (Blue Moon)—you’ll be glad you did.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Final Calling by Angela Colsin a fab four-star read. This is the fifth book in the Crucible series. It’s a paranormal romance and it follows the series plot of two main characters coming together and making a great pair. All of the books can be read as stand-alone but are best read in order and the order is, Book 1 – Blue Moon, Book 2 – Light Of Dawn, Book 3 – Strange Brew, Book 4 – Fallen Hearts, Book 5 – The Final Calling. This book tells us the story of Edith and Isaac, it sucks us into their world and keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know if Isaac will finally get what he has wanted for a time, but known he must wait until the time was right, or else he may lose what his heart desires most. The plot of this book is so good, it keeps you hooked from the first page to the last, you won’t be able to put it down once you pick it up. The story is a captivating one, Angela Costin takes you to a different world, rather than make you see the story play out in the other world, you are there already in the world rather than watching it as a traveller rather than an observer.
Edith is on a Journey that she must complete, during this scavenger hunt she has to find the items that she needs to complete her journey and gain her staff and eternal life. Edith will face trouble and strife at every turn, her life is already in danger and she may need some help on the journey, but who to ask? Step in Isaac a man who has spent centuries hiding as a fugitive, this does mean he has a ruthless talent that may just save Edith of she will allow it.
Angela Colsin is a great writer, you don’t read the story you become part of the story.

Adult Romance/Paranormal Romance

Copy provided for an honest review.

Edith is a mage in training to become an enchantress. To become an enchantress she must complete her “Final Calling” which is a scavenger hunt to find all the materials needed to create her staff and gain immortality. To get all her materials she must journey through magical worlds/realms and encounter various magical beings that are good and evil. To make things more complicated, she is “marked for death” by a Perosian Tyrant. Luckily an attractive and loud-mouthed Perosian, Isaac, claiming to be her mate, wants to help her and will do anything to keep her safe.

Isaac has known that Edith was his mate since she helped cure him of a curse (read Light of Dawn – Charlotte and Ulric’s story) but he couldn’t pursue her until she had been trained as a mage. Now that Edith is ready to move forward with her “Final Calling”, nothing is going to hold him back from her. She is his and he is going to pursue her until she accepts.

Talk about an exciting and captivating adventure! This book has such a great plot that will keep you turning the pages and on the edge of your seat! I absolutely loved that Edith was on a mission aka “scavenger hunt” for all of her items to make her staff. There are so many people and magical beings she encounters on her journey and she has the help of an attractive and loudmouthed Perosian, Isaac, who claims to be her mate. There were some seriously funny, hot, heartwarming and heart wrenching moments that I LOVED! I really enjoyed Isaac as a character. He is well developed and his honesty/bluntness is really funny. It made for some awkward yet charming moments with the sweet and innocent Edith. Edith’s personal growth throughout the story was exciting! Isaac really pushes her out of her comfort zone!

Like I have said in other Angela Colsin’s book reviews (Blue Moon, Light of Dawn, Strange Brew & Fallen Hearts)…Angela creates such a wonderfully detailed world full of magical beings. Each story, like this one, has a plot full of twist and turns, making a truly captivating story. Each story/book follows a main character who finds or is looking for their mate therefore there is ALWAYS hot chemistry and romance. There are always some hot and steamy scenes!

If you are looking for a romance book that will take you on a journey and has magical beings – you have to check this book out! Amazon - https://amzn.com/B01F05VQ7U

The Final Calling is the fifth book in the spellbinding series The Crucible, by Angela Colsin. It is an incredibly well written and exciting page-turner that is full of fantasy, action, adventure, drama, magic, mystical and mythical creatures- as well as travelling between fascinating realms.
Ms. Colsin’s world building is truly sublime; her unique plot is entirely sexy, thrilling and quite mesmerising; the characters are fantastic (even the baddies) because Ms. Colsin has developed them beautifully with so much detail in not only their appearances, but also their complex personalities and backstories. I couldn’t help but feel a connection to Edith and Isaac, and therefore became completely invested in their incredible story.
We met Edith Walsh in the third book of this series ‘Light of Dawn’ (Ulric and Charlotte’s story), as she is Charlotte’s best friend. Edith is a mortal who suffers from low self-esteem and a lot of self-doubt. This has kept her from finding her true path in life, her passion and a place she feels she belongs.
In the third book Edith discovers a whole world she never could have imagined. A world that scares her- but the magical, mystical and dazzling discoveries leave her full of excited wonder. She found herself chosen to become an apprentice to a powerful sorceress named Chandra. She is taken into a magical realm to receive her training, where Edith finally feels like she has found her true calling and a place to belong which is her dream come true.
This book sees Edith accepting her “Final Calling”, where she will be put to the ultimate test- she will need to undertake this to qualify as a fully-fledged enchantress. The Final Calling will require Edith to embark on an action-packed adventure to collect all the components required to forge a staff that will enable her to gain her full powers and obtain her immortality.
But unbeknown to Edith there is a prophecy that has foretold of her being the one to bring about the demise of an evil tyrant who has caused much misery over many centuries. Because of the prophecy, Edith finds herself with a bounty on her head and assassins sent to eliminate her. She won’t be able to complete her ‘Final Calling’ without some help from her friends, some she has yet to meet and some who she is already familiar with. One person in particular who has offered his help doesn’t just intrigue her; he makes her yearn for the things she can’t afford to be distracted by.
Isaac is a Perosian who is still paying the price for a situation that occurred centuries ago. He found himself stranded in the mortal realm where he has learned to adapt as best he can. He was also introduced to us in book three, as he is Ulric’s best friend. He has a part to play in the prophecy that Edith is unravelling. Isaac has an immediate and powerful connection to Edith and will do anything he can to assist her in her endeavours and to keep her safe.
But with the complexities of Edith’s Final Calling that bring their own perils, as well as danger stalking their every move- can Edith complete her Calling and attain her powers and immortality? Or will her opponent prove to be far more formidable that she gave him credit for? Will Isaac be able to protect her? Will they get a chance to explore the bond that they have? What of the prophecy, what really will become of them? What does fate have in store for them?
This is another spellbinding instalment in this really fantastic series. I love, love, love this series and I think this is the best book yet! I was so enthralled in the story that I couldn’t put it down and read the whole book in one sitting.
This truly is a must-read that will enthral you from the first page until the last. I can’t wait for more from this talent author!

Thank you Ms. Colsin!

The Final Calling (The Crucible Book 5) by Angela Colsin is part of her The Crucible series. This book can be read alone but I would recommend reading the previous books in this series as you will enjoy them as well. One of my favorite things about an author is how they can create well developed characters and characters that you can connect with, which is what this author has done. These characters are well thought out and her attention to detail kept the story flowing. You will find yourself being pulled into these characters world of suspense, action and romance. This story is full of mystery, magic and fantasy. Find out what happens to these characters go on a journey that you won't want to miss.

Edith Walsh never expected to have to deal with prophecies, tyrants, assassins, and exiled royalty during her training as a mage apprentice. Her focus is becoming an enchantress by completing her Final Calling. A scavenger hunt to collect all the items needed to craft their coveted staff and gain eternal life. This can be a lethal challenge if care isn't taken to watch your steps. What will happen when she is marked for death by the Steward of the Perosian Empire? Could it be because of a pesky prophecy made centenaries before her birth foretelling his demise at her hands? So what is she to do but to accept the help of a sexy Perosian who has been dealing with the Steward for as long as he can remember. Will she complete her Final Calling? Will her part of the prophecy come true or will they be able to change it?

Isaac he has been a fugitive for centenaries having been convicted of murdering his family. He is being hunted by a homeland he can't even remember. He has been dealing with the Steward's minions for as long as he can remember. When he is presented by a situation to help her, he has no idea what he is getting himself in for. He wants more then just to protect her and keep her safe, she is his mate. Is he even willing to put his own life on the line for hers?

Edith and Isaac's relationship is one that is a confusion for her and a mate for him. She hasn't had experience with men like Isaac and he has left her confused on how she feels about him. He has been waiting for a mate for a very long time and will do anything to protect her now that he has found her. She doesn't know how to handle him, he is a demon who can't remember his past. Is she really his mate? These are two strong characters that really make this story flow. They just complete each other. She is magical, independent, knows what she wants and how to get there. He is one that says exactly what he is thinking, he is strong, he knows what he wants and how to get it but he does know his limits. The secondary characters in this story are almost as strong as the two main characters. They really help connect the story together. They add something that you will connect with. Their journey together is not an easy one but it is one that they make together. Will the prophecy come true? Find out what happens with Edith and Isaac, will they find their HEA or will fate have something else in story for them?

This is my second story by Angela Coslin and it is my favorite to date. I can't wait to see what she has next for us in this series. Angela was born and raised in the southern US. She has been writing since she has been very young. She loves to write paranormal but is a sucker for romance. When she is not writing, she is playing video games with friends or reading. This is a fast paced story that will keep you reading until the end. You will have a hard time putting this book down. There twists and turns that you won't want to miss. You will need to see what happens at the end of this book! I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to take the journey with these characters!

The Final Calling (The Crucible Book 5)
By: Angela Colsin
5 out of 5 stars

The story The Final Calling (The Crucible Book 5) by Angela Colsin is a paranormal romance book. This is the story of Edith Walsh. She is working on her Final Calling which once completed will make her an enchantress. All she has to do is gather the items together to complete her staff, oh and to avoid a tyrant named Rothario that has marked her for death because of a prophecy. This will lead to her accepting the help of a demon that is determined to keep her safe as he says that she is his mate. What could go wrong?

This is an awesome book that had my attention from the very beginning and held it right up to the last page. It is the second book I have read by the author and I love the way she weaves a story and the attention to detail that she gives. She creates characters that have you rooting for them to succeed not only on their quest but also to fall in love. The characters I love in this book are Edith and Isaac. Edith is excited when asked to be the apprentice of a sorceress. She works hard and excels to the point that she is offered to complete her Final Calling. Then she finds out that she is part of a prophecy and that she is marked for death. She also meets Isaac. He is a Perosian. He is a demon that not only has a past but says she is his mate. Edith is not experienced with relationships and doesn’t know how to handle Isaac. He, however, vows to keep her safe and wants to help her any way he can. Edith is confused about her feelings for Isaac and is unsure on how to respond to the emotions that he is making her feel. Will Edith take a chance and act on her newfound feelings for Isaac? Will she be able to complete her Final Calling and survive the attempts on her life?

Isaac has been waiting and dreaming of his mate for a long time. He knows that Edith is the one. All he has to do is convince her. She needs his help and protection and he gives both. Isaac is a demon with a past that he can’t remember. He is strong however because he is a fugitive he also has limitations. Isaac also is someone that says exactly what is on his mind. It just comes out of his mouth which leads to some conversations that are very hilarious. Will Isaac be able to keep Edith safe and convince her that she is his true mate, the one he wants to spend eternity with?

The other characters in this book are also wonderful and while most are there to help Edith and Isaac, some work against them. I love that there are characters from the previous book that return and you get to catch up on their lives. This is a book that has plenty of action and romance, the two things that had me quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. Will Edith complete her Final Calling and defeat the tyrant Rothario? Will Edith and Isaac finally get their HEA? Read this book to find out! This book does have adult situations which include some very steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

The Final Calling by Angela Colsin is EXCELLENT! This book was the perfect ending to the series. There was a nice amount of drama, action and sexy time.

Edith is a human who finds out that she is a mage, or a magic practitioner, and she will be training with Chandra. After training, Edith meets Issac and discovers she is his mate, but she doesn’t really want anything to do with him at first. Issac then makes a vow to her to help find all of the items she needs to complete her final mage test.

Issac is a demon from a different lifetime. Centuries ago he went by the name Alder and was the prince of Perosia, until he was kicked off the throne and thrown into the pit. While in the pit he lost all his memories of his previous life. His now best friend Ulric and the mage Chandra freed him from this pit, and once being free he dreams of his mate. Issac finds out his mate would be Chandra’s next apprentice and hassles her to find her so he can finally be with his mate. Once meeting her, Issac will stop at nothing to keep her with him at all times, and it looks like now he has to win her heart.

Once both of them set out to find all of Edith’s items for her final mission, they run into some problems. Rothario, the man who kicked Issac from power all those centuries ago, is finally ready to kill him and Edith. Will Edith and Issac be able to survive? Will Issac sacrifice himself to save Edith? Will Edith finally admit her love?

This book was just fantastic! I loved every part of this book, it kept me so captivated. The character Issac and Edith are so different yet when they interact with each other they are so sweet. My impression of Issac at first was, I didn’t really like him, but when he find Edith his demeanor completely changes and I just fell in love with this couple. The book had a great ratio of romance to action and I would highly recommend the series to anyone who likes a good paranormal romance. 5 Stars!!!

The Final Calling by Angela Colsin is the fifth book in the crucible series so if you do not want to be lost and want to know what is going on go back and read books 1-4. This series is a sci fi fantasy romance that involves mages and demons. It is very well written and I love these books.

Corruption, lies, and betrayal, Alder, stood accused of murdering his entire family and is branded and banished into the pit. He is stripped of his identity and all memories. Isaac, awakens as his body is slowly decaying, losing fingers his teeth and eyesight and the only mage powerful enough to heal him is Chandra, but he wants nothing to do with that as her first apprentice was to be his mate as told by the prophecies. Except in the past to centuries she hasn’t taken an apprentice nor has she even shown interest in having one.

Edith lands the spot as the apprentice after curing Isaac of his curse on the first try.In order to become a successful mage she has to go through the Final Calling which is a scavenger hunt of sorts she has to gather items to create her magic staff which will grant her her immortality. Except Edith is a marked woman, marked for death by the Perosian Empire, the very same Isaac/ Eldar was banished from. Isaac will do whatever it takes to save his mate, even if it means sacrificing himself.

Edith is a Mage in training. Isaac has known Edith is his mate for a while but cannot act until she is fully trained. Edith takes her final calling and Issac helps her find the things she needs for it while trying to fight his feelings and hold back until her mission is complete.

This book follows the pattern in the series of two mates coming together in a magical fantasy setting. I have read one other of these books by Angela Colsin and I found this one even more gripping than the other and I need to read the rest of the series. This book is packed with action and the characters are great. Some of the previous characters appear in this one while Edith and Issac are pushed into centre stage.

The world creation and creative writing is fantastic in this book and the story is inventive and a great page turner. The romance and the danger elements are written so well that they are palpable and completely draw you in.

Edith and Issac have great chemistry. Issac’s naughty humour and Edith's reaction to it is hilarious and Issac still manages to keep a bit of devilish charm even though he is throwing out crudeness at every opportunity. Their scenes together are steamy and they are a great couple to follow.

I give The Final Calling (book 5 of the Crucible series) by Angela Colsin 5 stars.
This review may contain spoilers of previous books in the series.

Isaac is a demon who has been a restless spirit for centuries. He doesn’t have a permanent home, just places he stays. He only has one true friend. He has never really been happy, but there is one thing he longs for. Her. The woman of his dreams – literally. He can feel her loving embrace, hear her sexy voice. He dreams of everything about her, but cannot see her face. He knows there is a prophecy, and it states that she will be his mate. He also knows that she will be a trainee of a powerful mage he knows. But there is more to it. This same woman is supposed to bring down an evil ruler and be a savior to many.

After a he touches a cursed artifact, he is left to slowly rot away. He hasn’t died, but he cannot heal himself fast enough. After many failed attempts to reverse the curse, he knows he has no choose left but to call the mage for help. He can barely see at this point, but he hears another voice in the room. It is the woman of his dreams! They are able to stop the curse and he starts to heal, but before he is well enough to find the woman, the mage takes her away. He cannot stand the thought of another second without her, but knows he cannot follow where they went. Patience is not a virtue Isaac possesses.

Edith Walsh has not had a good childhood. After her father died, her stepmother hated and ignored her. The kids at school made fun of her. She never fit in, never belonged. She has one best friend she would do anything for. When she is asked to help someone, she readily agrees. With the help of a powerful mage, she helps heal this sarcastic, smart-mouthed demon. She also learns that she has powers and is offered to be trained to be a powerful mage. This feel right to her, so she readily agrees.

Once she is sent out to finish her training, she is warned of a few things. First off, there was a prophesy that everyone knows about the one who will defeat the evilness that has come upon Perosia. Everyone believes it is her. There will be assassins after her just because they think it is her. Secondly, she will be hounded relentlessly by a demon, but she is not told why.

She quickly learns that said demon is Isaac, and that he believe he is her mate. She has never even really dated, she doesn’t believe in fate like this. Besides, she wants a man to love her for who she is, not because he thinks he is supposed to. She will not accept this fate business, but she does accept his offer of protection since she is still human and he is quite powerful.

Can she finish her quest and earn the right to be a powerful mage? Is she the one they talk of? Can she help the ones suffering? Could this crazy, smart-mouthed but sexy, caring man really be the one for her?

This book is incredible. I have read another book in the series and I was not disappointed in the least. This is a longer book and is was a bit daunting, but I could not put it down! The characters are written so wonderfully, you feel like you are part of the book. There are quite a few hot sex scenes that will make you feel all hot and bothered. Plus there is so much action going on, you will never for a second be bored. Oh and don’t forget the supernatural creatures of all kinds! This book has it all and will definitely please you in all ways possible!

This book is an amazing paranormal romance. This is Edith Walsh's story. She is working on the Final calling in order to become an enchantress. While she is on the mission she has to gather certain items to complete everything. Not to mention she has to avoid a tyrant. Because of a prophecy she is now marked for death for Lothario which has her seeking help from a demon. Only problem said demon says she is his mate.

This book had me so into it that i couldn't put it down. This is my first book by this author that i have read and my first in this series. Lets just say that i went back and read the others. They are all amazing. The author has a way of sucking you in and not leaving much room for else. Not to mention the way she describes everything was amazing and so refreshing to read. She has a way of getting you so emotionally invested in the characters that you can't help but to root for them in the mission. I loved Edith’s enthusiasm in everything. She works hard and so much determination to succeed in her Final Calling that it feels like you are on this journey with her. I felt so scared for when the prophecy came out. I didn't know what was going to happen. I was on the edge of my seat. Then bam there was Isaac a Perosian Demon. Unfortunately for him she doesn't know how to take this news. I kind of felt bad for him in this aspect because i wanted them to be together right from the bat. I all about swooned when he vowed to keep her safe. Here he was a sexy man, well demon, with a past claiming his mate. Not only does she have this journey to get through but she also has all these new feelings to account for. The author had me so invested in Edith that i felt everything with her. It was quite a rollercoaster, but one i didn't mind being on nor finishing. I loved this book. It was a refreshing read from anything out there right now and helped me get out of my book funk.

The Final Calling is the fifth book in the Crucible series and follows the right of passage for Edith and the attraction of Isaac, can these two people together complete the Final calling.

Edith is currently mage apprentice but once she completes the scavenger hunt she will ascend to the next level, an enchantress. Although the tasks are dangerous it is right of passage and through completing these tasks she is somehow marked for death by the steward of Perosian regarding a prophecy that was discovered before she was born but predicted his demise and he is not taking any chances.

Isaac has become an outcast on the run for the conviction of murdering his family he is scared of running into the steward, he has been clever so far hiding from the steward’s minions but when he offers his help to Edith with her tasks will this throw him into danger and put him on the steward’s radar also. So he begins to help her and he starts to develops feelings more than just to protect her, she is his mate and going on the adventure he must keep her safe and protect her so she can complete her Final Calling.

The relationship between these two characters is complex and at parts you feel so involved in the story you are willing them to complete the task and get away from the dangers they run into. Edith’s character has no idea what these kind of feels that she is having for this sexy perosian but he has his issues of lost memories and she is unsure how to love a demon. Will they have their happily ever after or will the past intervene and destroy this couple.

The story flows and the world in which the book is set gets your imagination running wild especially with the twists, you could read the book as a standalone, but once you become involved you will read the other stories in this series. The character of Edith is a strong female lead and she shows true strength throughout the book, but also she has a vulnerable side regarding her experience with men and this is endearing and shows another level of complexity to the character. I can’t wait to read the next instalment in this series and would recommend this series to my friends.

The Final Calling – The Crucible Series Book 5 by Angela Colsin – 5 stars
The Final Calling is the 5th book in the The Crucible Series and while it reads as a stand-alone, I recommend reading Book 2 of the Crucible Series ‘Light of Dawn’ where we first meet Edith and Isaac’s best friends Charlotte and Ulric. Like all good series, we get to revisit with Charlotte and Ulric while we delve deeper into the origin story of Edith and Isaac and bring all the worlds together. It was really fun to get a better understanding of Isaac and his past and watch Edith in the final stages of her training to become her destiny. They both come from vastly different worlds and they are stronger together than apart.

Final Calling is a scavenger hunt of sorts. Edith must find all of her material to complete a mission to graduate from apprentice to Enchantress. After being alone for centuries, Isaac must wait patiently for his one true love to accomplish what she must. As an alpha male, he has to learn to accept his limitations when assisting Edith on her missions.

The way Angela Colsin writes is super visual and I’m able to read as if I’m watching a movie. The fact that there are so many different “worlds” with different creatures and time periods kept me turning the pages with pleasure to continue the journey. From elves and vampires to beautiful enchantresses and ogres, this story has a little something for everyone. There is romance, paranormal, sexy times, friendship, family, love and deep history for all involved.

I absolutely recommend this book.

The Final Calling: Angela Colsin- 4 stars

The Final Calling is book 5 in The Crucible Book series by Angela Colsin. This paranormal romance follows Edith and Isaac. Edith is finalizing her journey in which she becomes an enchantress. She finds herself teaming up with the most unlikely person, a demon, that promises to keep her safe and gather all that she needs to complete her staff. Edith has to watch her back at every step for tyrants and assassins because if she is not careful she will find herself victim of her death mark.
Her helper, Isaac, has been on the run for years after he is found guilty for murdering his family. Isaac runs across the opportunity to help Edith on her journey, but he quickly finds out there is so much more than what meets the eye. He realizes that Edith is his mate and he will do anything to help her and keep her safe, regardless of how troublesome this journey becomes. Helping Edith to her final journey of becoming a Mage is the only way that Isaac can continue to pursue her.
This story takes us through an amazing action packed storyline of two people who are meant to be together but have to overcome some major obstacles to end up together. The characters of Edith and Isaac are fantastic and the more they fight to be apart or together made me fall in love with the story that much more. Not only did this book give me my need for paranormal romances, but it also gave me my need for adventure and a scavenger hunt! While reading this novel I found myself just as attached to the sub-characters as I did the main ones.
This is my first Angela Colsin book and I have to say that I was very impressed. I read The Final Calling without reading any of the other books in the series, but I did not get lost or find that I was not able to keep up with the storyline. The novel was packed full of a magical storyline filled with heartbreak, plot twists and in the end- finding the one who your heart is meant to be with. On a side note, can we talk about hot and steamy? Whew!

The final calling, book 5 in the crucible series by Angela Colsin is a well written erotic, supernatural romance, with a well thought out world to step into. The heroine Edith was a pleasure to read, she has enough common sense and wit that she is easily relatable and she tends to kick butt all on her own. Her journey in this book is one that anyone who has ever worked for anything can emotionally invest in, Angela Colsin definitely delivers with this journey. Isaac the ‘hero’ seems simple at first, and I was worried that he would be a carbon copy of many other leading men, but I was delightfully surprised to find their was more to him than he initially shows us and Edith. I did find myself falling in love with him.
The chemistry between the characters was palpable on the page as they start to gather the items required for Edith's staff, of course there is always a hurdle to overcome and Colsin kept me eagerly awaiting the outcome. Despite this being a HEA book their were still moments where I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next and who would survive!
This is the first Angela Colsin book I have read, but due to her proficiency in writing and world building I was not at all confused about what was going on, I found her writing to be very engaging and fast-paced enough to keep my attention.
I absolutely recommend this book even for people like me who have not read the rest of the series yet.

I just read The Final Calling, by Angela Colsin. This is book 5 in The Crucible Series.

I think you *can* read this book without reading the other ones but I would recommend anyone that is into this genre, to read them all and in order - but I’m picky like that!

Finding out that you are not just human but also a Mage - will shock anyone, I can imagine!

But Edith is bound and determined to complete The Final Calling - a challenge that all Mage Apprentices must go through in order to get their staff.

A potentially lethal scavenger hunt, made even more complicated and dangerous by the powerful Rothario. The Steward of the Perosian Empire.

As if that isn’t enough, Edith must also navigate her feelings towards an unexpected helper.
The intense Isaac. He has faced the same enemy Edith is up against and as her mate, he will stop at nothing to protect her - even if that means turning his back against the place that he was supposed to call home, for good.

This is a book that is full of twists and turns and will take you on an exciting journey to another world completely! And you’ll be glad for the ride! Just remember to buckle in and hold on to your seats!

This is also a steamy book with chemistry that won’t be found elsewhere!
I love how they are with each other - their personalities complement each other perfectly!

For anyone into this genre - this series is a must read!

5 stars from me!

I am giving The Final Calling, by Angela Colsin four fabulous stars!!! In The Final Calling, Angela Colsin has brought together Edith, mortal mage extraordinaire and Isaac, Demon of the Pit and unwilling heir to the throne of Perosia. Together these two make some amazing sexy music as they battle their way through a remarkable number of challenges toward their happily everafter.
Angela Colsin has out done herself with her character and scenery descriptions. She has made her world come to life. Her characters show real connections both between Edith and Isaac, but also between Ulric and Charlotte. There are subtle clues, and not so subtle, to the way they feel about each other and it is a fascinating challenge to pick those clues out. A Demon mated to a human, not only a human, but a virgin. Isaac, crass, no holds barred, Isaac must find a way to bring Edith, his true mate both into her calling and into his bed. The interaction between a brash, tell it like he sees it and feels it Demon, Isaac, and a somewhat shy, reserved virginal mortal, Edith, vacillates between sweet and agonizingly frustrating. You get to see both sides of the sexual coin with Ms. Collin’s writing. she definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering where this book is going. Turns out, The Final Calling, Book Five in the Crucible Series is going somewhere fast, furious and Dangerous. As all good books do.
Ms. Colsin has given us an amazing read in The Final Calling and I highly recommend it. Good beach read!

The Final Calling by Angela Colsin
Four Stars

The Final Calling is the fifth book in the Crucible Series by Angela Colsin. This Paranormal Fantasy is full of action, suspense and of course romance. This is the first book I have read in the series, so it can be read as a stand alone. I had no problems following along, but I would recommend that you read the series from the beginning because the backstory is so extensive, and if the rest of the books are half as good as this one you definitely won't want to miss out on some great reading. Ms. Colsin takes us on a roller coaster of a ride in this book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning.

Edith is studying to be a magi and she is on her final quest, a scavenger hunt of sorts. She must collect the things to to make her coveted staff. This final quest will grant her eternal live and make her an enchantress. Of course there are many obstacles in her way. The first being a prophecy made centuries before she was born, that foretold the Steward of Perosians demise. He is not taking and chances and has marked her for death.

Isaac is a Demon who is on the run because he was convicted of murdering his family, but can't remember his past. He has been hunted by the Steward’s people for as long as he can remember. When Isaac meets Edith he knows she is his mate, the one he has been dreaming about. He has agreed to keep her safe through her quest even if it mean he must give up his own life.

This is a magical story that will hold your attention with the wonderful character descriptions and witty dialogue. I truly enjoyed this book and hope to go back and read the rest of the series.

I haven’t read the other books in this series but I read that they can be read as standalone novels so I decided to read this one because it’s plot was super interesting. I am picking up the first few in the series ASAP!
This was such a great read! I couldn’t put it down, I read it in two days and if I had the chance I would have read it in 24 hours but alas, I have responsibilities.
Edith, the main character, is on her way to becoming an enchantress. She has completed every lesson but one, the final test. It’s a scavenger hunt in which she must collect certain things in order to complete her staff and to become immortal. I thought this was just a super clever story idea and loved every bit of it. We are on the ride with Edith as she journeys through different worlds and meets unique and scary creatures. Her companion, Isaac, who is this very attractive and protective Perosian, is keen on showing her that they are meant to be together.
There were some seriously funny banter between the two and funny moments that caught me off guard in a story which I thought was going to be super serious and dramatic. It does have its heart wrenching moments, don’t get me wrong, but it all plays out beautifully and keeps the reader on their toes. I wish I could special some of what happens in this book because I’m still in awe of one certain gut wrenching scene, and still chuckling over one blunt conversation between Isaac and Edith.
This is a five star read for sure!

The Final Calling by Angela Colsin is the fifth book in the Crucible series. This can be read as a standalone book by better enjoyed if other books in the series are read. This book follows the story of Edith Walsh as she is apprenticing as a mage and enchantress. She is new to this whole new world laid before her and on her path of challenges finds out that her life is also in danger. When she was born, she was labeled as a part of a prophecy. Rothario, a tyrant from the Perosian Empire, is after Edith to put an end to her life. Thankfully Edith is helped by a Perosian demon named Isaac. Not only does he want to protect Edith in any way possible but believes that she is his predestined mate.
The characters in the story are fun and the story drew me in. I have read another book from this series and this was just as fun. Colsin writes a great paranormal, fantasy story but with plenty of realism thrown in. Edith is determined to pass her rite of The Final Calling to complete her training while not being killed by Rothario. Isaac is sexy, fun and will do anything to convince Edith she is his. Who does not love a sexy demon with a mission to convince his mate that they are destined but also be her hero. I will be looking for more books in this series and enjoying the extended stories of Colsin’s other characters.

The Final Calling The Crucible is Book 5 in the series by Angela Colsin. It has it all from Romance to Paranormal and filled with Demons & Devils and is an erotic novel to boot. Not only will this novel leave you hot around the color but want to read the entire series. While The Final Calling can be read as a standalone, it is part of a series so it would be better if read as a series. However, as a standalone novel, it is an awesome and amazing read. The characters will have you believing you are part of their world even though you are not and the story line is very easy to follow. This author has created a wonderful world of characters and places that even though they are fiction you can still relate to no matter what. Even the villains in the story line will have you wondering how to find this magical place to become one of them. Angela Colsin knows how to create and write a paranormal romance that isn’t like any other on the market along with a magical element added into it, she may have her readers believing that mages and magic really do exist in another universe or realm and we can get there just by simply wishing for it. A light hearted and fast passed read but still worth the time it takes to read it and reread it because the novel will quickly become one of your favorites.

Book Review: The Finally Calling (The Crucible #5)
Author: Angela Colsin
FIVE STARS
Book five in the Crucible series Angela Colson is continuing her saga with a mage trying to find the things needed to create a staff. Edith Walsh is in training as an apprentice mage and she is on a quest that can either make or break her.
Isaac is a demon. Spending his life in a "demon prison" he has had dreams of the one that is to be his mate. Isaac is ages old and has suffered in his imprisionment. Now he wants only to get out so that he can find his mate and claim her as his.
After and ages old prophecy places her at the risk of death, Edith is on a mission to try to not disappoint the ones that are counting on her. Can Isaac help her with her mission and keep her safe? Will his desire of her consume them both?

There is a lot of action and battles in this book. As well as a lot of sex. This book is not for anyone under the age of 18 due to adult situations and sexual encounters that are not approriate for younger readers.
I have not read any of the other books in this series. The synopsis intriqued me so I gave it a try and I was not at all disappointed. I am now, however, going to have to go back to book one and give them all a good read in the order they are intended.
Full of action and adventure there are times you can feel the emotions that Isaac and Edith are feeling. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

The Romance Review

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for honest review.**

Who knew a demon could be such a charmer? Umm... I did!

I have been a fan of Isaac, our sharp-tongued demon, since he first appeared earlier in the series. We learned of the prophecy regarding his mate and even met the woman in a previous book. Well, now it's finally time for Isaac to meet his mate. And their union was just as fun as I hoped it would be.

Isaac has waited a long time for this. I mean centuries. He has known that his prophesied eternal partner would be Chandra's first apprentice. The problem is, Chandra had yet to take an apprentice despite his constant encouraging her to do so. Until now.

Edith is new to magic and preparing to begin her Calling, a final challenge that will make or break her magical future. And the mage-in-training has no idea that she is also about to be saddled with a salacious demon that sees her in his lust-filled dreams. Their meeting is full of sparks, both demonic and magical.

The road ahead is anything but easy as Edith's magical puzzle is only one part of the equation. A vicious ruler, stalking brutes, and shadow creatures are bent on destroying the couple and preventing the prophecy from coming true. They will have to travel across realms, battle crones, and bargain with a dragon along the way.

This book was a blast! I didn't want it to end. Isaac and Edith's chemistry sizzled and so did the love scenes. Heck, nearly every scene that they were in together was steamy. Not to mention, hilarious. I laughed the entire time at Isaac's jokes and lewd humor. Fantastic. Just fantastic.

In closing...
This book is my favorite of the series! Isaac and Edith were such a great couple to read about. I am so happy that the next book of the series will be released soon! Five naughty suns!
