More than one love story is featured in this book, which chronicles the life of Dick Turpin, from his early days in crime as a young butcher receiving stolen meat, to his time as a member of the Essex Gang, then as a highwayman, and finally his capture and trial in York.

Authors Note
This is not the romanticised version of Dick Turpin. There is no Black Bess, no Robin Hood type character. This is an account of his crimes taken from newspaper reports and court records, showing a ruthless and unrepentant criminal, in a time where there was no real police force the public could rely on, and so people were at the mercy of thieves and cutthroats.

When an officer in the British Army is assigned to stop poachers from stealing deer in the King's Forests, little does he know that this is only the beginning of a search that will take years to find the notorious highwayman, Dick Turpin.

Captain Jonathon Curtis is given the task of capturing poachers and assumes a different identity as he and his sergeant, Abe Cullen, search the surrounding forests and inns, posing as merchants. They choose one inn to use as a base and there they find romance.

Phoebe Garnet is a young serving girl who works at the White Hart Coaching Inn, and along with her friend, Verity Brown, is resigned to live a life of hard toil with little reward. Then one day two handsome strangers arrive at the inn and Phoebe is immediately drawn to the tall, blonde young man who introduces himself as Jack Logan. Attraction turns into love and Phoebe is torn between her feelings for Jack and her promise to give herself to no man before marriage.

Beautiful and aristocratic, Ursula Brent will do anything she has to in order to survive, even if it means selling herself to a powerful and possessive man.

Fact is blended with fiction in this Georgian Romance.

Beautiful love story

I found this novel rich in romance and danger. Historically, everything fit just as it should. I did feel that the story was slow paced throughout. Many times, I had to stop reading and take a break such as two days or so. I strongly feel the author has huge talent in weaving a great novel. I had to stop reading ar times due to inconsistencies in punctuation and lack of it as well. In one sentence a man was referred to as a army Major. In the next his rank had jumped higher. I can't give a book with this many issues as well as actual wordage missing more than three stars. Should the author have this novel revised with line edits and, I will be happy to revise my rank in ng
