When Marshall is approached for help by another vacation resort, he responds by sending his most notorious sadist, Dungeon Master Dominick. His job: to fly to the Caribbean and help institute the same Safe, Sane and Consensual policies that have made the Castle such a success. Though not at all pleased by the assignment or its disruption to his routine, the last thing Dominick expects are complications… until he bumps into Maddy Cameron. She's plump, she's pretty, she's every bit the complication he doesn’t want or need, and yet he can’t help himself. Every time he gets close, he can’t wait to get closer still, to touch and be touched, to taste her, tease her, torment and possess her. Not just for a few scenes or a few days, but for the rest of his life… if only Maddy’s past scars will let him.

Hired to write a promotional review for a pirate-themed BDSM resort, Maddy looks on the opportunity as if it were a once-in-a-lifetime vacation—a vacation that comes complete with a tall, dark, arrogant and masterfully good-looking Dominant thrown in. It’s been four years since her disaster of a divorce, and though she knows she’s neither young enough nor thin enough to keep the attention of someone like Dominick, the allure of an illicit island fling is more than she can resist. Still, flings – like most relationships – don’t last, and better than anyone, Maddy knows the pain of letting herself get too close.

For Dominick, however, a little pain is all in a day’s pleasure. Maddy might not know him well enough now, but she’s about to find out that the world’s most infamous Dungeon Master never did take ‘no’ for an answer.

Publisher's Note: While this is the seventh book in Maren Smith's hugely popular Masters of the Castle series, it can be read as a standalone, as can all the others. The series numbers are just a guideline as to recommended reading order.

This was the first in this series that’s situated outside the Castle.
Dungeon Master Dominick is sent to help Master Marshall’s friend Rita set up a BDSM resort in the Caribbean. On the plane,he meets Maddy,a plus sized woman who’s sweet, and everything Dominick might want in a woman. Only,he doesn’t do relationships, does he? Maddy doesn’t. Not after a horrible marriage,or does she? Tessa, a regular guest of the Castle tries to sabotage what’s building between them. She gives skinny women a bad name, and i really hated her with a vengeance.
I tried to get past the awful stereotyping, and focussed on the connection between Maddy and Dominick instead. Thát was done beautifully and i enjoyed the fact Maddy grew in confidence. Overall a good story, one i liked a lot.

I wrote this in a review of a previous volume in this series:
"The emphasis on consent is clear throughout all of this series (though not all of her books, which is why I can't read her historicals), but there is more understanding of character dynamics and more communication between the characters about the role that kink can or does play for them, what each wants and needs etc. In the books in which more experienced kink players are the protagonists, unfortunately this essential part of any relationship (or scene) is skipped, which for me makes the books far less rich and the characters less dimensional."
While I loved the two protags in this book, and the setting was fun, especially getting to see Dom tell everyone how to actually run things right, the communication between him and someone new to the scene was missing for me. It meant that she never got to really explore her feelings, whether about kink, or about returning to being in a relationship after divorce, or the speed with which her feelings developed, etc...I just wanted more of her internal experience.

The Delight
Dungeon Dom Dominick gets the short straw and sent to help on a new resort opening. Grumbling like a spanked submissive, he finds just his type of submissive and things get hotter in the islands. Maddy doesn't know it yet, but she is going to be taken in hand by the Dungeon Dom Dominick!

Review
Dominick is your friendly sadist Dungeon Master and part-owner of The Castle. In defiance of the weekly Master's meeting, Dominick arrives late. Late means ending up with a job he doesn't want.  Turning it down isn't an option. Master Marshall is helping a friend who is opening their own BDSM Resort in the tropics. Themed pirate and colonial-themed. Arrrrrhh. Off to the tropics, Dominick goes, but along the way he finds a submissive, that doesn't fit his life. Sometimes not fitting your life is just what he needs.

An older heroine at 38, Maddy feels she is beyond the age for love. Recently divorced to her cheating, verbally abusive husband, she relies on her vibrator for satisfaction. Mental scars haunt her every thought about herself. Hired to write a promotional review of the new resort, Maddy is looking forward to vacation along with work. That didn't include catching the eye of a Dom and a vindictive skinny bitch who is out to torment her.

Dominick likes his routines and those routines may get old, and not looking for love, but they keep his life regimented. When he gets into reviewing the operating procedures for the employees including their safety measures, he finds himself with an out of control situation. Doms with no actual experience cause rifts right away. Safety measures that take 10 or more minutes to get to a submissive in trouble, just are wrong. With several islands and ships making up the resort, there are sure to be lawsuits in its future. Insurance executives along the way causing even more problems. The one bright spot that doesn't fit his plans either is Maddy. A submissive he is ready to break down and build back up, but first, he has to capture her.

I loved this story! I can't say I liked the new resort one bit, but I think Dominick would agree with me on that as well. Dominick is the Dungeon Dom and he can dominate the heck out of submissives, but he has grown a little tired of the usual submissives coming through. It's exciting to see him so into Maddy, loving her curves. Their first real scene is both exciting, titillating and off the charts sexy. Maddy was one of those sweet characters who finds everything interesting, but when she becomes a target for humiliation, she tries to just blend into the background where Dominick won't let her stay. But when pushed into a corner, Maddy comes out fighting. Maddy was a character I so related to!

There were elements to this story I didn't care for, but without them, I am not sure this would have been a great book. They help define these characters to the heart of who they truly were. The added epilogue at the end really wraps this story up nicely and I hope if there are more books in this series, that I get to see these characters again!

Dominick, dungeon master at The Castle, has been sent to evaluate a new pirate-themed BDSM resort in the Caribbean. Public relations expert Maddy comes to write up articles on the resort for her friend (who owns the place). Maddy is coming off of a bad divorce, and is interested in exploring sex and domination with Dominick. However, a jealous rival for Dominick's affection makes things difficult for them every step of the way.

This book has enough business talk to make me understand why real-life BDSM resorts like this don't exist, but the basis of the story is the growing love between Dominick and Maddy. Their characters (and most of the supporting characters) are great, but there's a sameness to the story line, where bitchy investor Tessa makes things miserable for Dominick and Maddy over and over again. Still, she gets her comeuppance and our couple gets their happy ending, so all's well that end's well.

I've enjoyed the whole Masters of the Castle series since coming to it from the When the Gavel Falls anthology (which is a brilliant read), but this is by far my favorite in the series. Dungeon Master Dominick is a sadist to fall in love with, while BBW Maddy is a sweet submissive finally giving herself permission to explore her true nature. The chemistry between Dominick and Maddy is fabulous and I'll never forget the flower bed scene.
I appreciated that this story didn't follow the usual plot of the lovers finding each other, falling out and coming back together after an estrangement. Their troubles are all external. It would have been out of character for mature, thoughtful Maddy to make the usual flighty decision that leads to the estrangement, and I really liked that this story didn't go this way.
Fans of Cherise Sinclair will love this series, but this book is worth a special look and is going on my favorite reads shelf to enjoy again and again.

'Maddy Mine' is the seventh book in the "Masters of the Castle Anthology" and it's written by Maren Smith. What can I say? If you've not read any of Ms. Smith's books you're in for a treat. Dungeon Master Dominick hated meetings and rarely attended but when he did it was never on time. When Marshall agreed to help his friend set up the protocols for a new BDSM resort she was opening Master Dominick received the dubious honor of being the person sent to do the job. Not that he graciously accepted the assignment but off to the Caribbean he went. Maddy is a photographer who is also a friend of Rita, the woman who is opening the new resort. Maddy has agreed to come to take pictures of the resort, take advantage of the amenities, and give a review. From outward appearances, these two are completely mismatched. But there is a chemistry there that can't be denied. Nothing has gone as planned for either one of them and then adding a wealthy investor's wife wanting to continually cause conflict just adds fuel to the fire. It's a great storyline with all the emotional baggage that comes from life and insecurities. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to read this because it was that good.

THIS. This one right here was my most favorite of the series so far, which I have been devouring! Loved Maddy. She says and does all the things I KNOW I would do in concern with her body. The self deprecation disguised as a joke, the constantly feeling sorry for how you look as if being bigger is somehow a character flaw and when something bad happens to you, you blame yourself because you absolutely SHOULD have known. That hindsight thing is a mental health killer. SO Maddy was ME in so many ways. I felt her in my BONES and why I loved this book so much, no doubt! Love this series. Only thing maybe a bit flawed was the ending. It ends when it ends, sure, but like every book in this series I feel a little bit floundery (is that a word? IDK). I need a good 2 or 3 chapters tacked on to the end. Just feels a little less than whole.

Chunky monkey

Maddy is pudgy. This has influenced her thoughts about herself for years and her ex used it cruelly. When she travels to a BDSM resort on an island in order to write a review she meets Dominick. He's an experienced Dom there to get the place and staff ready for opening the resort. Things heat up quickly and include a skinny rich jealous twig who wants him for herself.

I was disappointed that Dominick didn't understand her insecurities better and work harder to reassure her. He should have done that work and I'm giving the book 4.5 stars because of that. He also should have been a lot better at after care especially after their first time in the sand. I'm proud of Maddy for being able to go after what she wanted.

This book is still about Masters of the Castle but now we go off site! I loved the change in venue but it still managed to keep all the elements that we love out of the Castle! Dominick and Maddy are an interesting pair as they don't seem to initially seem like they would match up!

I absolutely loved the first sex scene! It is so hot and intense! The book flows so well and I just couldn't put it down! LOVED!!!

This was simply wonderful! Dominick is the hardest of Doms, the Dungeon Master, and he carries that all day, every day. Maddy didn’t stand a chance and didn’t want to resist, even though she kept running. Getting Maddy out of her head and into the moment was never a problem for Dom, but keeping her there had it’s issues. Just when it seemed it would all work out, IRL interfered in a big way. While Dom waffled, Maddy planned, and they finally worked it all out!

Girls YouTube Channel – Stacked with Reviews (not this book though!)

NOTE: This is a bit of a series review rather than each book in the series!)

Okay let's put my cards on the table shall we - I needed smut, I needed Alpha, I needed 'Sir's and 'Sweetheart' endearments and control. I found it in these. They are written by different authors but they keep the continuity of the whole 'Castle' really well. You have the BDSM Resort through it's early stages, through big events like disaster and Charity Auctions - and I have loved ALL of them.

I have read 10 single titles in two weeks, plus the chunk of Witness Protection books that come in one compendium - and I just realised I missed a whole other chunk so I will be back to them soon... but...

It's not high flying writing, it's mostly realistic, certainly all the BDSM play stuff is but some of the quickly falling for each other is a little squiffy. I will say that the psychological issues dealt with by the 'Masters' or 'Sir's throughout the books was really well done and quite affecting in places.

OF NOTE: Owning 'O' is deeply affecting, or at least it was to me.

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGERS - there are quite a few in there and mention of quite a full things.

Many of the books are written by authors who are in the lifestyle and I think that shines through in the writing.

I've read several of Marin's stories. This one, I believe, is y favorite so far. Maddie is very out her comfort zone. She's not topping from the bottom. She doesn't ever know what that means. She just wanted to enjoy him until he finds someone better.

Bullying and proof of all bodies are desirable not one type fits all in BDSM!

Second chance romance and later in life HEA

More doms in a new location but pitfalls of startups.

The Masters of the Castle series is one of my all-time, absolute favorite series ever! Each time I read a new installment, I desperately yearn to vacation at the Castle. In past installments, I caught glimpses of Master Dominic...and in my delusions, he became my book boyfriend. This installment is his HEA. (wink)

One thing that I must, must, must praise about this book is how the author made the female protagonist older. Someone please cue a choir of angels singing. Maddy is older than what is typically portrayed in BDSM stories. She is also shy and curvy with all the insecurities that come with being a BBW. (Cue more angels singing.) If anyone reading this review has Maren Smith's ear, kindly give her my undying gratitude for creating a book that stars a woman who is so damn relatable.

Now for what you want to know: Dominic is a creature of habit. He does not want the job of helping an island club nor does he want a relationship. Enter Maddy, a *real* woman with baggage of her own who is doing the PR material for the new island resort. Of course, we have the vindictive skinny b**** who causes havoc and some fun minor characters we hope to visit in future installments. Each scene pulls you in deeper to the point that you have to read the book in every waking moment.

This book can be read by itself. I strongly encourage you, though, to read the whole series. You won't be disappointed!

TWO STRANGERS ON A PLANE AND A BDSM VACATION RESORT
It is always fun to visit the castle again, and with this book, we go to the Island of Paradise that has been created by a friend of Master Marshall. Unlike the castle in Ohio, La Isla del Paraiso is in the Caribbean and will take the guest back to the seventeenth century including pirates and pirate ships. When Dungeon Master Dominick draws the short straw and is sent to help oversee the operation, Masters, and policies he is extremely unhappy about it. Maddy Cameron, who has been brought to the resort by Rita to write a promotional review, she has only lived a vague and vanilla lifestyle but has her fantasies. The plot kept me captivated with the extensive cast of characters, troublemakers, brats, and scenarios. The interaction between Master Dominick and Maddy has its ups and downs, he refuses to allow her to belittle herself and shows her domination and passion. When one guest crosses the line and enlists the help of resort staff by bullying another guest, it is dangerous and must be dealt with harshly. Making fun of people and snide comments about size and shape are never acceptable. This story is part of the Master of the Castle series but can read well as a standalone.

This is the 7th book in the Masters of the Castle Series. This one finds Master Dominique, the castle’s most sought after sadist, out of the dungeon, and in an exclusive island BDSM resort. Also at the resort is freelance blogger Maddie. Deeply wounded by a past relationship she deems herself too old, too fat, and too plain to ever be accepted in the lifestyle. Fortunately for her, Master Dominique refuses to accept her low opinion of herself.

I have enjoyed reading all the books in the Castle Series, and this one is no different. You have a hot dominant, a kind of shy/kind of sassy submissive thrown together in a setting that is so perfect it almost enters in to the fantasy realm. Throw in a bitchy villain and it really makes for a story worth reading. As always, the authors delivers lots of perfectly played out discipline that is harsh, but never too harsh. Plus, the sex is off the charts hot. I really hope we get to see more books in the series set at the island resort.

It has been a while since we've had a Masters of the Castle book so I was very excited to see a new entry in the series. I bought it without even reading the blurb. But while this story features our favorite Gaoler this story takes place off site. This time Dominick is sent to help a friend set up their own BDSM resort located in the Caribbean islands. We are also introduced to Maddy at the beginning of the book to set up what makes her tick.

I did enjoy this story overall and it was a lot of fun once things really got started but I was a bit disappointed in the change of venue and felt that the beginning of the story seemed to drag a bit because we had to spend some time building up this new world.

But things do heat up and after several ups and down we do end up with a couple that are meant for each other. The Epilogue at the end really helped make up for any slowness at the beginning and really loved what was revealed.

I wonder if there is a spin off series in the future full of piratety island fun.

This is my favorite MotC book yet!

For the record, I love all of them, but this one, holy cow, it touched me in so many ways.

A scary sadist and a "scarred" woman- they were perfect for each other!

I loved Dominick, even though I was little nervous about him after seeing him in other stories. He was so strong, sexy, dominant, and the perfect man to help Maddy get past her painful past. I loved him.

I really loved Maddy. Such a painful past, and so much horrid treatment from thinner, "beautiful" people.
she overcame it, and was so empowered by Dom's love.

This was beyond sexy.
And it was also sweet.
The depth of both Dominick and Maddy's emotions was written brilliantly, showing once again, that Maren Smith is a master in this field.

and the ending was perfect! :)
love, love, loved so much!

This is the first book I have read of this series and I now know I need to go back and read books 1-6 because this one was great! It kept my attention so much I didn't want to put it down. With the conflict between Maddy and Tessa and the hot loving between Maddy and Dominick and the hot loving between Maddy and Dominick and the hot oh wait, I said that already but the book was filled to the brim with the loving and spanking between Maddy and Dominick so much so I was wishing I would run into him. I encourage everyone that likes to read about BDSM even a little to read this book you won't be disappointed.

I do enjoy the series, and also appreciated that the female character was a bit older than typical romances portray. It was a fun, and definitely an easy read, but I had a hard time with the ending. It was more around the business aspects that the end of the story introduced than the primary couple that the book was about. So maybe it's not fair to give the book only 2 stars. If the story had remained focused on the Maddy and Dominick, or had portrayed the rest of the Masters as backing Dominick's stance at the "Pirate Resort" I think I would have been more forgiving. The Castle backing a resort that kicked Dominick off the island for doing the right thing just drives me crazy.

Have found my new favorite Author!!

I read a few of the other castle books in the series not by Maren Smith and fell in love 💘 then I read Maddy Mine and discovered what the other books were missing for me....that true domination feeling. The way Maren writes you feel all the emotions that the heroine is going through. And good gawd gurdy can she write some extremely hot 🔥 and intense sex scenes that leave you breathless. I Loved that the average woman can relate to Maddy who is not your typical BDSM barely age legal, tiny stick figure. I was a little disappointed with the ending only in the sense that I was NOWHERE near ready for the book to end, even with the HEA. 💘

Another great Castles book

This was awesome. Dominic has always seemed unapproachable to me since I read "Kaylee's Keeper". However he became a desirable character in this book. Dominic became real and I loved that he fell in love with a woman that society would consider imperfect. Maddie is hurting from her jerk of an ex husband and Dominic helps her heal and to begin to explore her desires and her submissive side. This book will become one of my favorites just like all the other "Castle" series books. It is a must read.

Amazing!

Oh my, I'm still trying to fully absorb this fantastic story! Maren Smith has hit a home run with this book! Dominick could not be any more dominant if he tried and Maddy is absolutely perfect for him. Together they are like fireworks on the Fourth of July! A very well written, thought provoking, steamy fun filled adventure you really don't want to miss! This series is something special and if you haven't read them you absolutely should. They stand alone nicely so start with this one and enjoy!

This is the first book in this excellent series that is not set at The Castle. Instead, it is at a new BDSM resort in the Bahamas. The principal characters, Dominick and Maddy, are older. He is an experienced Dom and dungeon master, and she has been burned by a bad marriage and an ex-husband who insulted her about her weight and appearance. Their brief love affair is entertaining and energetic, and there is even a villain, Tessa, who gets her comeuppance in the end. I really enjoyed the story.

I have been anxiously waiting for the next in the MotC series. This book is wonderful. Dominick is arrogant, but rightfully so. He is God to a lot of women. But Maddy doesn't know him that way, she thinks she is vanilla. She is very unsure of herself after a humiliating divorce.
The chemistry between them is amazing. Dominick can be such an ass, but there is just something about him! I highly recommend this book. I give it 5 stars.
