Alaric Moebius and Basil Fox are two lovable scoundrels looking to make a quick fortune. Basil is a former SAS trooper turned Queen’s Guard by day and thief by night. Moebius is an Oxford-educated charmer with a knack for getting into trouble. Together they chase adventure under the patronage of “The Collector,” a mysterious billionaire with a taste for rare and valuable supernatural objects of the occult. Written by series creator and award-winning director RYAN SCHIFRIN, this fourth chapter in the series follows the unlikely duo as they unearth a mysterious stone automaton reportedly created by the mythical wizard Merlin to protect the Realm in times of need. Their current need, however, is to steal a priceless set of decorative clock pistols locked away in the world's most secure antique warehouse! But how secure is it against a giant mystical golem made of stone? This madcap smash-and-grab through Paris plants additional seeds in the underlying mythos built throughout the prose series and graphic novel, building to a reality-shaking climax just beyond the horizon! Four or five star adventure story but one or two stars for Basil and Moebius not living up to their billing, May 8, 2017

This review is from: The Paris Excursion (A Basil and Moebius Adventure Book 4) (Kindle Edition)

This fourth volume in the Basil and Moebius series is written by the creator of the characters. It is a good adventure story with Celtic magic and the tomb of Merlin figuring prominently in the story. However, this volume has the same problem as the three which preceded it. The descriptions of the stories make a point of Basil and Moebius being two lovable scoundrels and charming rogues. This fourth volume even tells the reader that Moebius is a charming rogue. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the stories which shows either of them as loveable or charming. If that really is what Basil and Moebius are supposed to be, the authors of this series need to watch a few early episodes of The Saint starring Roger Moore in order to see how its done.
