The Lost Data

Rate this book

Officer Lucas Avery is furious. After three years of defending Earth from hostile alien invaders, he’s just found himself taken off active duty—to babysit a spoiled rich girl.

And she isn’t happy! She’s forced to leave her luxurious life behind and go into hiding with a lower-class lout. What does she care if he’s some kind of war hero who looks disturbingly yummy without his shirt? She just wanted to be left alone. But her father insists some big, bad, red aliens are planning to kidnap her, and this time, she doesn’t get her way for a change.

She is Lara Descartes, daughter of the richest man in the world. She has standards to uphold. And she is not about to let some military boy or big, scary, horned beasts make her lower them for anything.

A young adult scifi romance from Ellora’s Cave

At first the story didn't interest me very much. But getting through the first two chapters I noticed how it had a unique structure that you don't see in many books. It was a roller coaster ride throughout the story, going from intense action and adventure to humor and drama to suspense and mystery, all in different order. In my opinion a minor flaw was the overused inconsistency of these themes and maybe the plot could have been condensed or structured a little better. Above all, it was a good story with realistic characters and impressive world building.

Where in the world can we find this book again? It has disappeared off the face of earth!

Review from 4 years ago:
Amazing! Beautiful story line with lots of action and humor and everything that's right. I don't know why I love it so much since I don't like anything related to science fiction but I just do. The characters are so well developed too! I recommend that you read it, trust me you are missing out.
Ps. I want a hardback book version so I can keep it till forever! Please work on that haha

I'm not a big fan of science fiction or romance, actually I hate them both, but despite the genre and topic of the book it was very well written and the characters were extremely realistic and the story was great. The twists and turns in the story and the phenomenal writing were what kept me reading. No matter what type of books you're into I think this is a story that anyone can read and still enjoy to some extent.
