According to the prophecy of Genesis 3:15, the serpent will one day mix his seed as a counterfeit of the incarnation. Jesus told us that the last days will be like the days of Noah during which, according to Genesis, fallen angels mixed their seed with humanity. According to the Book of Daniel, we know that “they” will attempt to mingle with the seed of Men. The day of fulfillment for those prophecies is now!
A very interesting read, and it had many facts, points, and realizations nicely brought to the table and showed true. I only had one issue but it is pretty controversial, which wasn't my issue, my issue was it was never put clear if the author knew this basic fact, or not. Good read, but I will also take it to my Dad to find some answers.
There are some scholars who aver a rather strange and evil event took place in the days immediately prior to and during Noah's time. Others try and paint the picture that what happened was nothing more than a physical interaction between humans. What exactly took place and more importantly, what bearing does understanding what happened have on our understanding and application of Scripture? Is this just some science fiction or mythical based concept or did something evil take place that angered God to the point where He destroyed life on earth save Noah, his family, and some select animals. Will such an evil event take place in the future? Speaker and author Douglas Hamp, in is book Corrupting the Image: Angels, Aliens, and the Antichrist Revealed examines these and other related issues.
Let me first state this is a subject that is of increasing interest for me. I have read several books on this subject in recent months in order to obtain a greater understanding of the various positions taken on this issue. Hamp's book ranks right up there with other books on the subject I have engaged thus far. He aptly discusses what took place in Genesis 6, specifically what actually took place between the sons of God (fallen angels) and the daughters of men, creating what Scripture calls the Nephilim, the giants and men of renown. Using solid research and interaction with Scripture, Hamp demolishes the Sethite Theory, the idea that the sons of God were actually the progeny of Seth and not something of a more "angelic" nature, in this case angels who rejected their proper estate as noted in the book of Jude.
I appreciated Hamp's focus on the battle between the two seeds, namely the seed of the woman and the seed of the enemy. This battle has waged ever since the events of Genesis 3 with the enemy seeming to up the ante in Genesis 6 in his attempt to corrupt the seed of the woman. This of course resulted in a global flood to rid the earth of the Nephilim.
Hamp also discusses some rather interesting concepts such as the idea that Adam and Eve wore garments of light, something he finds support in based on scientific research that indicates our DNA emits a very low level of light. Pointing to ancient Jewish and Christian writings on this subject, Hamp suggests prior to sin, Adam and Eve reflected the image in part. Referring to a number of Scriptures that speak of God's glory and the marvelous light that surrounds and seemingly comes from His very presence. Also of note are the references to angels having the appearance of lightning, thus suggesting prior to sin, Adam and Eve could have also had such an appearance. Post sin, those garments of light were no more; however, Scripture seems to indicate in eternity future, the people of God will once more receive bodies such as Adam and Eve had in the beginning that reflected the image of the Creator.
While I disagree with Hamp's pre-tribulation rapture position, the scenario he presents of the grand deception that is stated in Scripture to take place in the end of days is quite plausible and conforms to the activities we see currently taking place. His discussion of the transhumanism efforts, the UFO phenomenon to include alien abductions, and the attempt to mix animal and human genes is fascinating and to be honest, quite scary to read. With that said, these various efforts to align themselves with the prophecies found in Scripture and Hamp does an excellent job outlining the agenda of these groups along with providing information from those who are pushing these activities.
One thing is quite clear and that is something evil took place in Genesis 6 that angered God and it is apparent that same level of corruption is scheduled to take place in the end of days. Tales of giants are not just some bedtime story worthy of a good Disney or science fiction movie. The corruption or attempted corruption of the seed by the fallen angels that took place in the days of Noah is stated in Scripture to take place once again. The giants of old are well documented and to deny their existence is to in fact deny both Scriptural proof and archaeological and historical research. Regardless of what takes place in the days ahead, we can be assured as Hamp so aptly reminds us that God is in control and we can trust that despite the enemies attempts to thwart God's divine plan, those attempts will fall short.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in this subject matter. Hamp provides the reader with well researched information from Scripture, science, and history, presenting a clear examination of who the Nephilim are and what is currently being planned by those who desire to try once again the failed plan enacted so long ago. Hamp's book is informative and as noted on the cover, "A thrilling read!"
Thesis: Just as there is a seed of the Satan, so also is there a seed of the Serpent. To be sure, Hamp is not saying that Cain, for one, is a quasi-Serpentine child of Eve. Rather, Satan will (or at least try to) further corrupt the image of God by corrupting its genetic code.
Biophotons. Hamp explains how DNA emits a faint photoelectric signal.
The material on the Nephilim is the standard stuff one would find in Heiser et al. Hamp does score points on the nature of the “spiritual” and “angels.” In common parlance today, and in Greek philosophy of old, spirit or spiritual meant “ghostly,” not real, or nebulous. In the Bible, however, it suggests another dimension. We know that angels are spirits. The next questions we ask of the text settle the issue:
*If spirits are immaterial, then can they be seen? Greek philosophy says no, the Bible says yes (Job 4:15-17). *if spirits are immaterial, then can they touch and be touched? Greek philosophy says no; the Bible denies the premise (Gen. 19:3, 10, 16; 32:22ff).
Again, the above points are well-known among those who maintain the supernatural interpretation of the Bible. Hamp, moreover, establishes an even stronger claim. Angels (or whatever similar term) come from the spirit-realm (or invisible realm, etc). In this sense, “spirit” means coming from the spirit-dimension. We have New Testament evidence of this. Our fathers ate “spiritual” food from heaven, the bread of angels. It was quite material, but what made it “spiritual” was its source.
He has a good section on the “alien abduction” phenomenon. Like many, he views them as demonic encounters. I am sympathetic to that idea, but I think it is too simplistic. The “grays” often do not act like demons.
Although I agree with him that there is an alien/demonic angle to the transhumanist project, and I agree that there is a corruption of DNA, I just do not see his secondary thesis as necessary. He claims, based on his reading of Genesis 3:15, that there must be a genetic “Seed of the Serpent.” Maybe there will be, but I do not see the text suggesting it.
This book is a welcome addition to the growing concern over transhumanism. Even where I disagree, Hamp has given us many resources and much to think abou.
A fascinating and well-researched look into the possibilities of how the Antichrist could come to power in these last days. I felt the book's concluding section was not as strong as the first two sections, and could be more thoroughly researched and explained, though I do believe his conclusion is viable. Also, the supporting material leading up to Hamp's conclusion was, in my opinion, quite solid. I appreciated his no nonsense approach to scripture and felt he handled the biblical texts well.
This book has some amazing information about the enemy’s plan to corrupt human genetics because it was through the seed of the woman that redemption was promised. The push to defile humanity continues to this day through genetic modifications and manipulation in both “alien” (demon) abductions and the transhumanism movement (genetic splicing/CRISPR). This timely book was written in 2016 before the untested, toxic injections that are being pushed today were introduced to the public. Book 2 in this series promises to be even more mind blowing.
Great book for those that study the Bible and who want to understand all there is to know. This book will open your eyes in ways you never imagined. The Bible has many mysteries and sometimes we ignore what we don’t understand as a mechanism of being human. This book will explain those Biblical topics that are puzzling and give you a deeper perspective.
A fascinating theory with interesting ideas to ponder. The author was very clear that this is his opinion and not a fact. He presents some facts and his opinion as to what that might mean and leaves it up to the reader to discern.
I found this authors writings to be what I have been studying. He follows the Bible and his putting together the information so any one can read with ease. I highly recommend this book. Open your eyes to what is coming, evil is on its was, pray for strength.
Book was very interesting and we'll thought out. Quite an undertaking for the author which is noticeable when reviewing the number of references and appendix.
When Dave Hunt is cited as an authority, you know you're in for some entertainment. Hamp believes Genesis 3 obligates "those that want to be consistent" to interpret the protevangelion as the genetic offspring of Eve having enmity with the genetic offspring of the serpent. This lays the prophetic framework for the rest of the book.
How does that work? Turn to Genesis 6 and there you will find the answer. The Sons of God had to be angelic beings with their own DNA which just so happens to be compatible with human DNA for reproductive purposes (think of mules or hinnies, except they can also procreate). Angels have DNA AND gender? Apparently, but they seem to be only male angels. Or at least there are no good looking female angels, so the male angels came to earth because the female humans were so much better looking (like Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan in City of Angels).
Hamp cites a host of sources from antiquity that believed this was possible. No dispute there. Even Boccaccio wrote of such in the Decameron when he tells the story of Lisetta, who was told by Frate Alberto that she was so pretty that the angel Gabriel wanted to sleep with her (turned out it was just Frate Alberto pretending to be Gabriel, but you get the idea, people actually believed they were so pretty that an angel would want to have sex with them).
Hamp cites a host of authorities, but I'm not sure he bothered to actually research their authenticity. For instance, he points us to Maurice Chatelain (an alleged former chief of NASA Communication Systems) for a quote that relates to an alien sighting (they're really demons of course). However, a quick search will reveal this is totally fabricated - there is no evidence that a Maurice Chatelain ever held such a position.
The 19th century gave rise to a host of eschatological speculation that developed into various formal systems of belief. Hamp builds his prophetic vision upon one of those frameworks, though I suppose one could affirm various conclusions presented in the text that would not require that affiliation.
This was my first taste of Douglas Hamp’s writing, and my overall impression is that he’s a solid researcher and writer. The main attraction for me in deciding to read this book was its content regarding the “sons of God” and the giants of Genesis 6, which for me is a fascinating topic. Hamp addresses these issues, but he takes a slightly different approach as compared to other writers on this topic: Instead of focusing solely or primarily on the sons of God and their Nephilim offspring, Hamp extends his query pretty far beyond those two things, diving into some related matters and how all of these fit into what might be called “the Enemy’s grand plan”—that is, Satan’s repeated efforts to corrupt humans not only spiritually, but physically, with the dual aims of 1) preventing the Messiah’s advent (an obvious fail!) and 2) changing the human genome so we’re no longer human, and thus disqualified from being redeemed (also a failure). Hamp goes back to the “proto-Gospel” of Genesis 3:15 (the woman’s seed vs. the Serpent’s seed), and also goes all the way up to today’s alien deception (directly related to fallen angels and the Nephilim) and how that big lie will tie into the events of the End Times. Highly recommended for anyone interested in any of these topics!
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this. At first, it was a bit slow for me and then gradually, it picked up the pace. But I say that when I'm reading about five books at once. I finally started to put more time into this one. I haven't read the Unseen Realm (a really popular book for Christians right now), but I can say that some of the things in that book will be in here. I only know because I asked people.
This book is a lot of theories based on genuine scripture, so whether things play out just as Hamp suggests, or he's way off base, there are a few things I think he does get right.
Hamp theorizes about the Antichrist, how he comes to be. What makes him who he is. Hamp also theorizes about some of the current things in our world, like the trendy concept of transhumanism, modifying our own genetic code with other species'. He talks about aliens, abductions and his (and some others' ideas on what's really behind that). He spends a significant portion of the book on Nephilim. Bottom line is whether you end up agreeing or disagreeing with Hamp's reasoning, he uses scripture to support his theories and I (in my humble opinion) think he's done a great job at conveying these and giving me some things to think about and look into further.
I appreciated the author’s thorough research on this subject. I was fascinated by his pointing out that Adam and Eve were clothed in light. His presentation made sense with many other sources to support this. I did get the sense this was truly written by a scholar not just by someone who wanted to “ tickle your ears”. I did find that ( obviously perhaps) his projection for the future is just that. It sounds plausible, but time will have to tell.
A valuable contribution to the subject. Despite a number of mistakes and errors, Dr Hamp still provides a lot of good information. It would have been better if he could have given more room to the work of Dr. David M. Jacobs on the subject of “alien abductions.” Since that is missing be sure to read the books Dr. Jacobs wrote: “Threat” and “They Walk Among Us.”
An interpretation of the mark of the beast described in the book of Revelations. I agree with the author in many aspects, especially the connection between a genetic alteration of the human genome and the infamous mark; However, no precise clarification in relation to the interpretation of the number 666 is provided.
I do not agree with his conclusions on many subjects. For example, he showed no evidence from Scripture that Mary was of the bloodline of Judah, but a very informative book on DNA and how it has been corrupted. Glad I have read it
........... until I read it. I tried several times to put it down, but for some strange reason I was drawn to finish it. And, I am so glad I did! I truly believe the Holy Spirit was my inspiration. Please read and see for yourself!
Probably a 2 1/2. Interesting information for those interested in sci-fi reality. Of course, has to be read with a grain of salt. Recommended for apocolypse enthusiasts.
Really enjoyed the book. Doug did a great job showing how the image was corrupted. I have some differences of opinion on some things but really enjoyed the book
Everyone who wants a deeper understanding of end times should read this book. I highly recommend it to help make sense of what we are seeing in our world.
This book almost gives me ideas of where to go with my research. Just when redundancy sets in, I find Mr Hamp, who goes through all my keys points of interest and ties them all together succinctly, all the while imparting previously unknown nuggets every step of the way. I'm already on part 2.
This book was absolutely amazing! I enjoyed it from start to finish! It is a great companion to Dr. Heiser's books. I understood what I was reading. It's filled with academic sources which makes this an August undertaking. It shows great scholarship. I can't wait to read the others. Great job, Professor Hamp!
very interesting, and makes sense on many levels, certainly would explain a lot of human history, including the events transpiring today, read "MISSING TIME". AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH.!!!
