Time Travel, is it for real?

When I encountered this book, I was not sure if I could get into it. It is the second book in the series and I have not read the first one. I could not be more wrong. Thank goodness Dress 2 Impress can stand alone.
Time travel. Men. Lots and lots of men. Mystery. Humor. Intrigue. I could go on and on. Characters are wonderful. Situations are comical. It was such a fun read. I laughed out loud with this one.
Thank you Netgalley and Janet Leigh Books for giving me a digital copy of this to read and review. It was a delight to read and I will be seeking the others in the series as soon as I get a chance. I am rating this book Four Stars because there were some sections of over explaining but they were few. Overall, I truly enjoyed this book and will recommend it to others.

Jennifer is doing much better in Book 2. She is able to drive her contraption and she understands more about her abilities and what she can and shouldn’t do. That doesn’t mean she follows orders very well though. I enjoyed this book. I only wish Jennifer could go back and visit with her Great-Aint Elma Jean Cloud.

Dress 2 Impress (Jennifer Cloud Series) by Janet Leigh is easily the most creative approach to a cozy I have read. It is all about time travel. The crime is usually related to the left of the "key" necessary to accomplish this feat so it is not your ordinary crime. Jennifer is our heroine. She works for her brother in his chiropractic office as a Girl Friday. She works 3 days a month for the World Travel Federation (WTF) traveling through time. she is a transporter. Transporters each have a partner. Hers is Caiyan, a sexy Scot and her current boyfriend , or so she thinks. Caiyan has a rep as a playboy so she is never sure.
Their newest caper is in 1602 Scotland where they are trying to get a "key" that had been in the possession of Mary, Queen of Scots, before her execution. There is also a brigand (bad guy) after the key. They have a short window (3 day) in which to accomplish their mission and return to their won time before the window closes. It is possible to stay until the next window but it is very painful.
Jennifer has two other men in pursuit. Jake-her handler and trainer from the CIA who supervises the WTF and Marco, a shirttail relative whose relationship with Jennifer is combustible (sexually) so Jennifer tries to avoid him. She lives with her cousin Gertie, who is not WTF but helps out occasionally. The cast of characters goes on and on but these will be a good introduction.
While in Scotland, the "key" is safe with its rightful owner and when they return to present day, Jake decides she needs more training, which he will take care of himself, and Caiyan tells her he will be out of touch for a while. And so the story begins...
This series has huge potential. It is not there yet. The cover is awful; far too cute for a book that has a potential for depth. The potential for the "butterfly effect" is huge, in fact realized in this second book of the series, leaving lots of cleanup to be done by, who else, Jake. I love the concept. It is pretty light reading, which is OK but doesn't seem appropriate, given the story. The characters are good, but also seem a little out of place in this light reading cozy mystery. I would like to see this whole thing taken a little more seriously and give the novel some depth.

I loved this book. It was cute, definitely funny, captures the experience of being a young 20-something lady in our age. I think it resonates well with the experiences that that age goes through and even some of the thoughts in her head. All while trying to prove herself at her job and confronting the men in her life to balance patriarchal views with feminine independence, as well as the very real possibility of being in physical danger while being pretty. I thought it was captivating. Although sometimes I also felt very confused, like did the author just pick back up in the middle of something and forget what she was writing because now we are on another track. It felt like that, but it also came together. I'll read it again and see if I understand that part better now. I think that makes it good for another read-through. Also right when you think things are going to be wrapped up she ups the energy again and ends on a high note and you realize that she didn't answer some of the discrepancies about a certain character, so now you have the read the next one to find out what that character was thinking and what could possibly be their explanation for themselves!

The reason i gave this 1 star is because half the book is missing. I won this book on goodreads .
The first page was missing at first i though okay strange book and as i kept going through the book entire sections are missing.
This is not the first time i have encountered this with kindle books, for whatever reason a lot of authors are not giving you the whole book when it is in kindle format. I am not accusing the author of this book doing this. I am just stating a fact that happens with kindle format books. I am sure it was a good book

LOL - really funny! This is the second book in a 3-book series, and I'm definitely going for the next installment. Clever, quirky and totally unpredictable.
Jennifer Cloud is learning time-travel on the job, and she's partnered with her childhood sweetheart to learn the ropes. She's getting much better at it, and her cousin, Gertie, is along for the ride. A trifecta of suspense, romance, and adventure!

I liked this book even better than the first. They are funny, exciting, a touch of romance, and very innovative. If you are looking for a fun read to take away the stress this is a good choice. When the moon is full Jennifer acts as a transporter to take enforcers back in time to right wrongs and make sure they do not screw up the present. Very imaginative and funny! I can't wait for the next book!

I always enjoy time travel stories and enjoyed this one. Find out what happens when a rookie transporter goes back to retrieve her defender. One change in events sends this one out of control.

I could read the copy from netgalley because it contained so many formatting errors so thankfully, I found this series on Kindle Unlimited. Let me tell you, I am hooked! What a great concept and the execution was perfection.

I liked the first book so much better. This one seemed a little thrown together, and it was really annoying how much she talked to her inner voice. I liked the Marco character, until he made a#MeToo move, that made Jennifer uncomfortable. I wanted to believe he was a more stand up guy than that, based on his first book. I hope book three is better. I still like the time travel aspect of these books.

Dress 2 Impress is the second novel in the Jennifer Cloud Series by Janet Leigh. Life in Sunnyside, Texas may seem to rank mild to middling on the excitement scale to an outsider, but resident Jennifer Cloud knows better, particularly since she inherited the ability to time travel. With dashing young men at her side, and a roommate with a photographic memory, fashionista turned chiropractor assistant Jennifer struggles to hide her talent from friends and family while working with a secret government agency to overcome evil across the ages. As if that isn’t enough, she must save her hunky Scotsman for sure death will fighting off the advances of a hot, wealthy racecar driver.
Janet Leigh scores high marks for Dress 2 Impress in the categories of humor, romance, adventure. Her novel is engaging and the science behind the science fiction is explained well enough to buy the premises without needing to hold a science degree to understand it. Her characters are people I would like to get to know, and I can see how the historical aspect of Jennifer Cloud series could keep readers eagerly looking forward to many adventures to come. I loved Aunt Itty and would give my right eye for Scotsman Caiyan to look at me one time the way he does Jennifer.

I love this series. Janet Leigh is a new author so give her a read. So far there are two books in the Jennifer Cloud series. This book was even better than the first if that is possible and I bought this one because I liked the first one so much. I sure hope there is more in this series. Jennifer is now in training with her boss Jake (former best friend since 4th grade and recently friend with benefits) every weekend. He has decided that she needs more knowledge and strength if she is going to time travel. So, of course, an emergency of sorts arises and she needs to go retrieve her sometime 'boyfriend' Caiyan from 1985 and she must take the hottie Marco along for support. Can this get any more problematic. She is not 'that kind of girl' so she just lusts in her inner mind...most of the time anyway. Her cousin Gertie goes along and she is always good for a laugh. This book had been cheering for the travelers and I was torn as to whether she should take Marco up on his offer, he makes her tingle, or give Caiyan another chance. Hmmm. Anyway, this book is fun to read and it will be one of those that you read when you want to feel better. Lots of fun. Kinda like Stephanie Plum with a time travel gene.

After pounding through the first Jennifer Cloud novel in one sitting I went to Amazon and grabbed book 2 in the series. I wasn't disappointed. It was clever, funny, and had a fantastic plot and mystery to solve.
Jennifer is smart and savvy while finding her way in a new profession and lifestyle. Her sidekick and cousin Gertie provides us with comic relief as the two women travel time to stop bad guys and cause all kinds of hi-jinx. Of course Jen's not alone on her missions. She has an entire cast of sexy men to work with, even if they are causing her confusion.
Which leaves us with this question: which man will she choose?The sexy Scot she's been partnered with to travel through time, her childhood sweetheart now turned boss and CIA agent who spends his time training her, or the heroic race car driver that causes fires in and out of her panties every time they kiss and manages to always be the man that comes through for her when he's needed?

Much better than book 1 in the series
Book 2, Dress 2 Impress, is written a great deal better than the first book in the series. Although I didn't find the storyline as captivating, I enjoyed this book.

This book made me laugh out loud at times. It has great characters that take you in a variety of directions. There is suspense with the time travel, with intrigue and romance. Loved it!
