The second book picks up the adventure and keeps the action coming. As a new fan of Blake's writing I'm enjoying this series. The characters are well developed and the setting is used to its full advantage to keep the plot exciting. The author understands real world politics and how different people would most likely react in this dystopian world. I recommend you read the series in order for the best experience. I'm looking forward to Book #3!

While I enjoyed this, I think it was a bit much of the same. The fights were really long and, honestly, I could’ve done without half of them.

There’s so much that the author can do with the whole vaccine thing and the city they’re going to, why waste time with more random gunfights that sound exactly the same as the others?

I get it, Lucas is a badass. And I like that about him, but do we need to rely on him so much all the time?

Sierra is dumb and impulsive. Will she ever learn from her mistakes?

Ruby is still a gem, though. Love her.

It’s a good story, well written and I like the characters. It just needs to be less repetitive.

Same as the first book in the series, not the best but not the worst, so I guess I will continue on with the series

In Day After Never – Purgatory Road, Lucas continues his journey with Sierra, Eve, and Ruby. It’s just as exciting as the first book, with great gun battles and new bad guys. There was a twist I didn’t see coming, and when I finished reading, I was dying to read book three.

Love this series! Has me stocking up on food in case this comes true.

A PAGE TURNING, EXCITING READ!

This is Book 2 of "The Day After Never" series! Lucas, Sierra, Ruby and Eve are trying to get to Shangri-la; a sanctuary that has not been affected by the collapse. They are being hunted by the Locos gang and Magnus' Crew. Lucas goes to great lengths to protect the women. They are on their way towards Roswell, New Mexico...then to Shangri-la.

This is a story of redemption and surviving the world as it is and hopeful of a better future. The characters are people you care about. Lucas is a complicated man; he has lost people important to him since the collapse. He has feelings for Sierra but is hesitant to tell her. Sierra has been used and abused by Magnus. She too, has lost so much.

Russell's attention to detail is like watching a movie in your mind. His description of scenes are vivid and believable! There's lots of action - loads of gunfights and suspense!
As a fan of Russell Blake, I highly recommend this book! It's a 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read and I look forward to reading Book 3!

3 1/2 stars. I'm honestly not sure how these books are rated so high. Not that they are bad books, just that they aren't excellent books. Even though they are short, I feel they could still be cut down. The first half of this book felt just like the last book - the same groups of people chasing each other around and around with the occasional gun fight. Finally towards the end it got interesting, right before it ended. Yep, felt exactly like the first in the series. I bought the series as a bundle so I'm sure I will finish it, I'm just hoping he mixes it up in the next two so my mind doesn't keep wandering.

Lucas continues to help Sierra and Eve to evade the Crew. Taking a big risk Lucas saddles up by himself to see a man from Sierra's past about a possible refuge, called "Shangri La". Pursued by the Crew and various scavengers Lucas and the others continue their trip north towards Shangri la after many exciting adventures.

As much as fun as this book is, the real star is Blake's vision of the post apocalyptic American West. A fast paced exciting chapter in this evolving saga. Highly recommended.

I rooted for the bad guys

I read about half the book and frankly I started rooting for the bad guys to kill the whiny, pain in the ass, know it all female character who causes most of the bad things by being a bitch. It’s rare but I just don’t care how it ends. Main character waffles between being a badass an a wiener. The kind of well meaning folk who get others killed and expect to be able to say I’m sorry getting them absolved of their sins expecting other to jump on a funeral pyre for them. Guess my grumpy old man is taking the forefront.

MC

Its a 3 ,The entire story revolves around Sierra and! Eve. I guess have has immunity to.the sickness the has wrecked the world but ,they are captured then they are saved land that particular situation is the entire story so far in one small area and Lucus is the one to save them but when he leaves them they are captured again and again and again and gets a bit.Boring. There is a change in the bad guys who do the capturing of Sierra and Eve. Then write g is good but the characters do not have much depth aside fom Lucus

Not sure

I am going to continue reading the series out of curiosity of how this series ends. I have a HUGE problem with everyone talking like they are straight out of The Wild West! So distracting when one sentence is mentioning IPhones and next sentence is everyone calling each other ‘partner’ and using verbiage that’s out of a Western book. Anyone else

Continues the story.

This book has continued the story pretty well. However there was one thing that was a glaring omission to me. The trading system that has been adapted to is based on arms and ammo that our hero is diligent in acquiring. Well, he took out an adversary who was in possession of a AR-50A1 sniper rifle and ammo for it. Just of gathering it up, he just rides away. ???????

The story progressed well from the first into the second. The story continues right where the last one left off. The biggest concern I have with the books in the series is it seems to end in the way of a sitcom, leaving a cliffhanger that sort of forces you to move into the next book immediately. I am not a fan of this style of a book ending, but the story is good and the remainder of the book series does not disappoint.

This good book - Anyone who likes Mad Max will love this book. Although it is not a very creative book, it is full of interesting characters, experiencing the difficulties of the post apocalypse day to day life.
The author keeps us captive until the last page and then until the next book, because everything we thought would happen, doesn't! On the contrary, the author makes a brilliant curve in the story. Worth reading - I recommend.

Pure Adventure

Book two picks up right where book one ended, and the pace never slows. The main character, Lucas, is resourceful and deadly, as needed. Lucas takes on a little too much for his new love interest, but the action is well described and vivid.
Still a good storyline, book three is on the radar.

Riveting

I hope there is never an apocalypse. I have recently started to read this type of book. I can't put them down. This author keeps me on the edge of my seat. Twists and turns. The bad characters are so evil. There is such an array of characters and Lucas is the perfect hero.

what A Series!!

This series keeps me up at night! It is very well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can’t believe how vested I am in the story line and with all the characters, which are easy to keep up with. Prepare to have the trill of the ride when you read this book!!

Entertaining PA Action Thriller

Plenty of action and excitement are the essence of this entertaining post apocalyptic thriller. The plot is different than others in that the storyline is focused on the factions, some less than altruistic, trying to possess the possible cure of the virus. There is no shortage of depraved individuals who take advantage of the situation.

Good old fashioned shootouts

The story rolls on with a small band of heros and heroines pitted against superior numbers and amidst some treachory and fortune hungry betrayers. Good characters and background reminders in case you read book 1 a while back. All in all an enjoyable read that is hard to put down at times ..now for book 3 in the series!

Lucas, what a ride.

Lucas is just one of the characters but what a character he is. You will have to start at book one to find out about him. But let me tell you that you will not want to put this book down once you start reading.

Really good

Five years after a virus has wiped most of the population out, the survivors are doing their best to maintain. But along with the good, bad rises to the top and honest folks suffer.

Fabulous

Whew, our characters are off on a truly gruesome trek though who knows what. This story certainly doesn't lack for fight and drama. I am vested in this adventure to save Eve. On to book 3

Captured my attention

I usually make notes along the way, while I read, and in some areas of the book, mistakes were made, but most people wouldn't recognize them. Technical things. But besides that this book series is really good so far. I'm liking it.

Number 2 - just getting better!

So far, a great story continuing to build on the first book. I love the post apocalyptic genre, especially stories that build throughout a series! Thank you
