Holly Dunn didn't know that when she studied at a rock concert, the lead singer would call her out on it. Tommy Nye didn't know he'd be intrigued by her odd sort of ways, which is why he invited her and her friend to go on tour with him.

All Holly wants to do is finish her finals, graduate from grad school, and start her marriage and family therapist internship. The last thing she wants to do is complete her mandatory hours with some has-been eighties rocker and his band of misfits, traveling the country during their comeback tour. But when her friend begs her to take the chance, and when her college advisor tells her any hours alloted with the band will count towards her required number, she finds herself unable to say no.

Tommy Nye wants to relive his glory days when his music topped the charts and he topped the world. When he's confronted by a cute college student most decidedly not paying attention to him and his band during their first concert on their tour, he can't take his eyes off of her. In typical Tommy fashion, he acts before he thinks, and before he knows it, he has two new people on tour with him, with one all over his drummer and the other trying to knock down the walls he's worked so hard to build up.

When a young woman planning for her future and a man desperate to live in the past collide in the most unexpected way, it's necessary to readjust their priorities and focus on the present, before their chance at love disappears.

Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.

Love’s Back Pocket is yet another fun read from Heather C. Myers. Whilst I have given it a three star rating, in reality it is more of a three-point-five star read. I debated whether to round it up or down, but in the end I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I enjoyed some of her other work so I opted to round down.

Heather C. Myers writes a range of romance reads, and whilst her paranormal romance tend to be my favourite I cannot deny that she had wrote some fun contemporary reads as well. Love’s Back Pocket is one of those contemporary reads: it takes the much-loved story of the rock star. Rather than being a tale of a fan falling for the rock star, this is the story of someone who is very much indifferent to the musician and his music. She’s not a hater nor is she obsessed – she just accepts it.

The story was addictive from the start until the end, leaving me guessing as to how exactly things would play out. However, I wasn’t as engaged as I have been in some of the author’s other work. We have all that you would expect for such a story: drama, emotions running high, changes in perception, and a lot of other aspects that work to thrown a wrench into the works.

Despite how much was included in the story, I failed to really connect with the characters. I think it’s because we never had that truly high point that made the characters shine as much as they could have. Yes, we had ups and downs that tested the characters; however, there never seemed to be a moment where both of them realised what was happening – their emotions just seemed to progress at different rates.

Overall, it was enjoyable but it isn’t my favourite work from the author.

So I read this book a few hours after reading a different book. And it didn't affect my feelings toward this book one way or another. I would rate it 3.8 out of 5 stars. I felt at times the way things were described was a bit repetitive. Example: leaving Holly and Tommy behind they walked away hand in hand....Holly and Tommy are left alone. It felt like some sentences were running on a bit for filler. It also seemed at times a bit jumpy. I felt like I was missing something a few times and had to reread a few parts only to realize I wasn't missing anything. However it didn't try to focusing on too many characters. The story line was good but felt like it could have been more developed. Was a nice HEA.

Holly agrees to go to a concert with a friend, and meets Tommy. He calls her on her studying and has her go backstage. Then he invites her to tour for the summer.

Tommy is attracted right from the start. He is a bit selfish. He is very talented. He also has a way with women. Holly cannot stand the man and she almost gives up on him.

This book reminded me of the original series romances. Very old fashioned in its pacing and style. You might even call it a modern My Fair Lady. I thought the characters development was good to see. Music and a hot guy are always a thrill to read also.

In a review of an earlier work I wrote that I was amazed at the wide range of writing she encompasses
Heather C Myers is a relatively new author to me. A good, well written book. I lean toward romantic suspense but this book’s plot line captured me & I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a book that you need to read the acknowledgements at the end. It explains a lot. I will read more by her in the future as she has stretched my enjoyment of the many genres she writes in!

Rocking with Tommy and Holly

Thoroughly enjoyed the story between Tommy the badass rockstar and Holly. Tommy sets his eyes on her at his show and the next thing you know she is going on tour with him. They are complete opposites but their interactions are great. I truly didn't want this story to end. If you like your badboy rockstars you are definitely going to want to read this book

3.5 Stars. I liked the characters but didn't connect with them that well. Good story with angst, friendship, love and attraction. The characters were to far off point for me. With that said...This is a sweet romance sure to warm your heart.

Rock N Roll Love

Opposites do attract. Neither one had ever experienced love. Tommy and Holly didn't understand what they were feeling. Both had to think through the feelings. The story was well-written. I love Heather's books.

Great book

Loved the interaction of the characters. Holly is extremely smart, but is clueless about life. Tommy is the quintessential rock star. Definitely recommend this book.

Love this book

Love the way Tommy along with his band meet Holly and her friend Tanya. They are like night and day. Holly and Tanya ended up going on tour with them. She is working on being a psychologist and he needs one. They have a lot of ups and downs throughout the tour. It is an enjoyable read with ideas of what behind the scenes rock tour would be like. Love them and their friends. It was fun to read.

The contemporary romance novel is about a psychology grad student named Holly Dunn who needs to do a six month intern with a professional supervisor in order to graduate. Tommy Nye is a 80's rocker who wants to relive his glory days. With complex & realistic character's that show real emotions & flaws. The surporting character's are fun & add to the story. Holy & Tommy's love story is unconventional & I was captivated right from the beginning to the end. I could not put it down as I needed to know what was going to happen next. This sweet & entertaining read that I recommend reading. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

A chance encounter changes everything…

Holly Dunn has kept her head down and studied, studied, studied. She is one set of final exams away from starting her internship. After that, fingers crossed, she can start on her chosen path – marriage counselling. What she didn’t expect was to be attending a rock concert with her best friend the night before one of those big exams. And unexpectedly catching the attention of a musician who starts her on a new path…

Tommy Nye is trying to resurrect a musical career that had once taken him to the heights of success. Seeing Holly totally oblivious to the rock concert he and his group are performing catches his attention right away. Dragging her and her friend along on his first rock concert tour in years may have been impulsive but things may just work out…

The love story between Holly and Tommy certainly started in an unconventional way and maybe that’s the way with rock stars? They say being in close quarters can make or break a relationship and being on tour, such proximity, seems to bring out the best and worst. From loggerheads to lovers is a monumental leap and there is lots of angst and drama to work through. The story is well-written, moves at a good pace and the characters are interesting – I just wish I’d connected with them a bit more.

As we get older, age differences don't matter. I'm a concert junkie. So I loved this storyline. Im not sure whom I enjoyed finding their HEA more Holly and Tommy or Tanya and Mitch. It would be REALLY cool to catch up we these characters in more books.

Love's Back Pocket is a contemporary romance with a lot of emotions that have to be worked out. Holly is trying to be a psychiatrist and Tommy is singer in a band. Holly goes on tour with Tommy to get her hours. There's a lot of going back and forth. Pushing feelings away until both can realize that they love each other. I had problems relating just because it's not believable with him just inviting a stranger to live with the band for months. There's a lot of high school behavior and at times I wanted to scream at both of them to grow up. I did enjoy the characters and how they acted with each other and their friends. I rated 3.5 just because it's a little hard to believe.

Loved the story

I liked Holly, she was confident in her studies, a sweet but pragmatic woman. Tommy Nye 80's rock god. The whole sex, drugs and Rock & Roll. I really liked that the both changed but remained true to themselves. I liked that the story connected to me on an emotional level. This book is going on my read again list

The main character was humanely dense.

I made it to chapter 24 before I just couldn't go a by further. The book focuses too much on making Holly really dense almost to the point of never having had human contact. Her upbringing should have been an Amazonian tribe.
