She teaches women to use nutrition and lifestyle choices to look and feel their best from the inside out. Her first book on beauty nutrition, Eat Pretty, debuts in March 2014.
I picked this journal off the Target shelves in 2017 hoping it would change my life and because the cover is so darn pretty. And I'm vain and wanted to eat and look pretty forever.
I used the journal every day in October 2017 and really thought about the importance of food when it comes to fueling your body, and what beauty on the cellular level can mean. That being said, it did not change my life because I did not choose to change my habits back then. And while it did make more mindful to journal, I also became completely obsessed with my intake because I was writing down all my food every day (this did NOT encourage a healthy relationship with food for a high-achieving, perfectionist like me).
Now in 2020, during this pandemic in which I have nothing better to do than work and declutter my bookshelves for a third time (to actually read stuff I said I was going to read or finally move on), I came across this book again and definitely still think it's a pretty cover and cool concept.
After reading it again, while I won't do the journal portion or any food tracking for that matter again, I respond well to Hart's concepts. Her way of thinking about the day and rethinking vanity really resonates with me. So I've decided to keep this book, maybe get/read her main work Eat Pretty: Nutrition for Beauty, Inside and Out, and I'm going to incorporate more seasonally-leaning fruit and veggies into my diet.
I got this as a gift from a friend a few years ago and took forever to finish it. Had it not been a gift I would never have bought or read this book. The reading material is pretty basic and very cheesy. Most of the “nutrition” tips are also very basic and seem to be mostly focused on trendy diets. I couldn’t help but cringe while I read this. I’m not a huge fan of the concept of a ‘guided journal’ as someone who regularly does a bullet journal. I find bullet journals a much more fulfilling way of journaling but with that said I will probably take some inspiration from the layouts of the pages in this journal. Overall not a bad book it just wasn’t for me.
This guided journal has been helpful to me in so many ways! I love that it included the seasonal aspect of eating and the fact that our bodies need different things at different seasons of the year. I have really been fascinated with food choices lately. I’m turning 30 this year and I’m more interested than ever in maintaining my health and boosting my energy. This journal has added mindfulness to my eating and beauty habits. Definitely recommend this to anyone who is ready to make changes in their eating habits.
"Beauty in, beauty out." I've always been looking for a motivational, informational health book that isn't centered around religion or doesn't have verses throughout it. I was at Target, browsing the book section like I always do, hoping that I'd find something that would interest me. This. This book/journal pulled me in. I bought it, read the first parts and on January 1, 2021 I started the journal portion and am now on day 9 of the journal. It's helping me keep track of what I eat and how I feel about those foods after I eat them. It's design is beautiful and the size is perfect for carrying it with me throughout the day to work, etc. There's a ribbon to mark your spot and I honestly feel like it is chock-full of information for starters who want to focus on the food they eat, and not picking up another serum at their local drug store.
I soon ordered Hart's other 2 Eat Pretty books: "Eat Pretty: Nutrition for Beauty, Inside and Out" and "Eat Pretty Every Day--365 Daily Inspirations for Nourishing Beauty, Inside and Out" and have enjoyed reading them all together. I feel like it's a great start to the new year for me! I need more suggestions to books and authors like Hart. My favorite Youtuber is certified by the IIN as well and I'm always devouring her content.
Very inspiring, and helpful. If you don't really have a clue about what fruits, veggies, nuts, etc. do to help your body and skin. This book is a great start! It recommends her other books first but I think if you're a 'Doer' this is great to start with itself. Very interactive and goal oriented for your own desires.
This might be a 3 star. I was intrigued on it being a "journal". Found it was not what I was looking for. When I picked the book up I didn't read it close enough to realize it is also a food journal. Having completed these in the past I did not want to go through another change the way I eat journal. I can see where others may get a lot out of it but it was not what I was looking for.
This was recommended to me by a friend. It was very interesting to see what was recommended for how to take care of one's body. I now feel that my everyday food choices affect my lifestyle. I will now try to be more conscious with what I pick to eat and how much.
I read Jolene Hart other books . So I had to order myself the cookbook. I trying to eat healthy and nourish my body from the inside out. Eat Pretty Live Well Journal helps you take her day to day tips and apply it to your life.
Hart’s philosophy about beauty and wellness has really helped heal my relationship with food and with my body. This is a wonderful journal to help guide you to listening to your body and therefore how to fuel it so that you feel and look your best.
I received this book in a giveaway and I love it! I have type II diabetes and arthritis and I am using the journal as a tool to help me with my pain issues also. It is full of useful information on what foods are in season when, what foods you should incorporate more of in your diet and what they do for you, as well as lot of useful info for managing stress. It also has a daily food diary that asks you questions that make you think about what you are doing and how you are feeling which causes you to reflect more about the choices you make during your day, but not in any negative way.
I give the book two thumbs up as a useful tool for everybody! You don't need to have health or diet issues to benefit from this journal. It's great.
A personal journal for the reader to help guide you to build a lifestyle that supports a radiant, energetic, and beautiful self. Jolene Hart starts with the philosophy behind eating pretty....nutrition, eatting for beauty, eliminate betrayers (alcohol, caffeine, sugar, ....), and create a beautifying routine. She gives a list of beauty foods from A to Z with their benefits, discusses portions, meal timing, creating a beautiful life, and seasonal foods. The best part is a 40 day journal portion with a food diary, affirmations, beauty nutrition, and self care essentials.
I received a free copy to review via a Goodreads Giveaway. Many thanks to the author & publisher for their generosity.
A solid option if you're looking for a positive and reaffirming new journal. Only slight downside is that it last for just over a month so you'll need to find another journal in a fairly short amount of time.
