Every soul longs for purpose and new life. But when we’re in the midst of a cold, dark winter with no hope on the horizon, it can feel like life is futile and spring will never come.
Broken dreams, loss, addiction, betrayal, fears, guilt, and haunting reminders of our past can overwhelm our souls. We dream of a day when we can break free from the bondage and silence the toxic voices that play over and over in our minds, convincing us we’re failures and that things will never change.
So we search. We try more. Pray more. Read more. Thinking we just need to believe more. Yet the peace and joy we desperately seek continue to elude us, and it seems as though God does, too. We’re left feeling more alone and empty than before.
In A Perennial Life, Tammy Borden invites you to newly discover who you are and, more importantly, who God truly is so you can let go of past regrets and experience the abundant life you’re meant to live. Through heart-gripping true stories, playful humor, raw confessions, and transparent admissions of life’s deepest longings, she’ll help you embrace and redeem your own story — your seasons of life — so you can transform, grow, and unveil the significant purpose your heart longs for.
A storyteller at heart, Tammy Borden is a professional writer turned novelist. As a first-generation American, she’s compelled to share her heritage and family stories through richly woven narratives, connecting history to personal lived experiences and helping readers discover resilience, hope, and the enduring power of the human spirit. Her first novel, Waltraud: A True Story of Growing Up in Nazi Germany, began as a desire to preserve her mother's memories. Her sophomore novel, The Harvest Keeper, is based on her father and grandmother’s experiences, shining a rare light onto one of the most devastating and overlooked tragedies of the 20th century — Ukraine’s Holodomor Famine. She’s spoken to thousands about her work and the importance of preserving family history.
Much more in-depth and rewarding than expected. I have to admit I was initially biased: So many “my story” books by Christian women are written TO women, and often portray God as the big, snuggly stuffed-animal-come-to-life who daily sends us chocolates and rainbows. NOT THIS ONE! Instead, I found myself reaching for the hi-lighter and looking up verses that I “knew” but hadn’t THOUGHT about as deeply as the Author. Tammy gets brutally honest about past hurts and struggles, but offers sound, Scriptural hope — the ONLY hope — for healing and an adventurous future.
Having known the Author for years, I should not have been surprised: All of Tammy’s music and writings are well-grounded in Scripture and sound doctrine. Like other really good books, “A Perennial Life” challenged me to get back out there where my feet can’t touch bottom, and TRUST.
Tammy has written an extraordinary story of a life full of trials and tribulations that are easy for many of us to identify with and woven it with tales of a strong yet struggling faith. I found myself feeling sad as I watched the end of the book grow near and wanting to know more! This was a quick, easy-flowing, but still thought provoking, and possibly Iife changing book.
I found this book to be enlightening. Although my situation is not the same as the author's I found many things that mirrored my struggles. Worth reading!
I loved Tammy's openness and transparency throughout the book. She shares deep topics in such a way that you feel as though you're wading into the waters with her. She shares triumphs and struggles in such a relatable way that you connect with her and her story, whether or not you've struggled in the same way, because she presents the deeper, universal struggles we all face. The way she talked about the issues really spoke to me, and many of the analogies she used gave me "Aha!" moments. I loved this book!
