Mr. Match

Rate this book
Oliver Shrike thinks ahead. He likes to make lists and tick off boxes. He plans, he plots, and he’s got everything under control.
Until one day he sees my videos on his dating site. The private erotic videos I make just for him.
When I’m looking at the camera I can practically see his face. Hear the internal arguments. Feel his desire.
Because I’m that kind of woman.
You should delete my videos, Oliver Shrike. It’s your job to keep that dating site on the up and up.
But you don’t, do you?
You watch them. You get off to them. You crave them.
Every week I make a new one with you in mind. I’ve got you addicted to my body, my moans, my secrets.
I’ve hooked you now, Mr. Match. You’ve been in control for way too long and this is where it ends.

Mr. Match is the last book in the Mister Series. NOT a standalone book.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

“Do you want me happy? Or do you want my secrets?”
Mr. Match is the fifth and final book in JA Huss’s Mister series, and the one I’ve been looking forward to the most. I knew that in this final book, everything would come together and we’d finally get answers to all the questions we had. And of course I was looking forward to it because it’s Oliver Shrike’s book. Most everyone knows Oliver Shrike’s parents. Spencer Shrike of Shrike’s Bikes, and his wife Veronica ‘Bombshell’ Shrike. It felt almost nostalgic reading this book. The fact that it takes place in Ft Collins, and you get glimpses of people and familiar sites from the original gang made my heart happy.

But back to the story… the first four Mister books can technically be read as stand alones, but to enjoy this one, you most definitely need to have read them all. Oliver Shrike is Mr. Match. All of the Misters were set up when they were in college and their lives were forever changed. This is where we find out why. How everyone ties together and who our missing pieces of the puzzle are. Katja Kaloahova is a flame from Oliver’s past, but she’s so much more than that. Katja is one of those missing puzzle pieces I talked about.

Oliver and Katja have an interesting past. Oliver Shrike is one of the most romantic Misters. I wish that more of the book would have centered around these two. I felt like a lot of it was the story coming together (which was necessary) but I also felt like we missed out on some Oliver time we’d all be dying for. Oliver is a poet. He’s a sweet and kind guy and he’s carried a torch for the lovely Katja since the first time he laid eyes on her. Katja has a lot of secrets. She keeps them to protect the ones she cares about.
There’s no greater purpose for this life than to find the partner who understands your soul.

Even though the Misters series is concluded, I feel like it’s really not. I have so many questions about what happened and a particular person need to be addressed more. Even so, this story gave me a lot of the closure I needed. Julie always seems throw us for a loop in her suspenseful series and this was no exception. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, with a lot of steam, mystery and love I recommend these. Meet the Misters! Mr. Mysterious is definitely mine :)

First and foremost, I am a little sad to say goodbye to the Mister Series since Julie has taken her fans on one hell of an adventure with Mr. Perfect, Mr. Romantic, Mr. Corporate, Mr. Mysterious and now with Mr. Match. The long awaited conclusion of the series was everything you could have wanted, expected, and needed from J.A. Huss.

photo a9c5edd7953f30ebb2b61b97083889_zpss4yivkcd.gif You express me better than I express myself. You shall be more to me than my poem.”

So who is Mr. Match? Well, it’s none other than Oliver Shrike. Yeah, if that name sounds familiar then I know you know who is parents are. Who can forget Veronica and Spencer’s only son? Oliver Shrike is the perfect combination of his mom and dad since he is indeed the modern gentleman as he is both sexy, intriguing, mysterious, and dirty.

#MrMatch2

Oliver runs a matchmaking service with his sister, Ariel. His company matches couples to find love. Or does it? While Oliver’s real work may be up for questioning, his personal life is pretty much tight lip. Oliver keeps everything about his past life secretive especially when it comes to the matters of the heart. And so when he comes across a video file on his matchmaking company, he is surprised to see Katya Kalashova.

photo a9c5edd7953f30ebb2b61b97083889_zpss4yivkcd.gif I told you,” I say, “that when you came back I’d kiss you everywhere. That I’d still love everything about you. That your scars are my scars. We can own them together.”

Four years ago, Katya Kalashova was a seventeen year girl who got involved with Oliver Shrike. Their love affair was a bit unconventional as these two were sexually and emotionally attracted to each other. They both kept secrets and yet every scar, pain, and emotions were visibly unspoken. They both knew that this thing between them was the real deal. But what happens, when the fairy tale romance comes to an abrupt end?

#MrMatch0

Katya Kalashova had to leave Oliver Shrike. She knew it would hurt but in order to save her sister and Oliver, she had to do it. And so when she returns back to Colorado, the first person that she wants to see is him. When she sends him a private video, the ball is in Oliver’s court on whether he wants to meet and see her again.

photo a9c5edd7953f30ebb2b61b97083889_zpss4yivkcd.gif She is more to me than my poem.”

Oliver makes the first move now that Katya is back. He makes it known to her that this time she can’t run away from him again. He knows that she has secrets but he will stop at nothing in order to help her. It is only a matter of trust. Will Katya be able to tell Oliver the whole truth? And what is Katya’s role in the Silver Society?

#MrMatch3

For four books, Julie has laid out the clues and missing puzzle pieces and in this final installment, the answer to who is after the Misters are answered. With Julie’s meticulously and cunning prose, JA has readers on edge as she reveals the truth. While the big picture is exposed, it leaves readers like myself greedy for more as characters like Ariel, Five, and Rory deserves to get their happily ever after also. So here is me wishing that these characters get a book in 2017.

photo a9c5edd7953f30ebb2b61b97083889_zpss4yivkcd.gif Oliver Shrike is tender and caring. Deep and complicated. He is poetry incarnate. There is not one damn thing about him that requires adjustment or modification. Not his temperament. Not his body. Not his mind. He is perfection.”

Okay before I go off tangent, I will say that Mr. Match was brilliantly executed. Oliver Shrike’s story was told in a way that fit his persona. He was a perfect symphony of bold, alpha, sweet, romantic, and dirty. And as for Katya, she was indeed his perfect match. She was his poem. His words. His missing piece. His everything. So if you are looking for a story the blends romance, suspense, and steam then look no further than the Mister Series. Just remember JA Huss has a mister to suit to everyone’s taste. So are you ready to find your match?

5 SHRIKE STARS

I don't know how Julie does it?! It all started with a lie. One helluva of a lie. Five books, five Misters and five remarkable women.

And isn't it interesting, that number? Five?...Five Ford? Yes, I could be totally reading into this but I'm just sayin'!

How she weaves such a fascinating, sexy, wild plot that starts with Mr. Perfect and ends with Mr. Match, and she manages to make everything make sense. All the tangents and connections and shit, my mind is still reeling - GAH!!!

And Oliver Shrike! Oh my, Mr. Shrike, I fell so hard, so fast and so far for you! I never anticipated this. Mr. Match is my fav Mister. Sorry, Pax! I still love Mr. Mysterious, but Oli's got my heart.

And who knew he was a poet? His adoration for Kat is sweet, swoonworthy and not to be missed.

I highly recommend this series. Julie has this knack of giving you a mindbender and men to die for!

------------------
Well the end is here! GAH! Oliver, Oliver, Oliver, I love your daddy and something tells me, I'm going to love you just as much. I'm going in.

Match is the final the Mister’s series, and it was an epic conclusion like only JA Huss can do.

Oliver Shrike has grown up loved, surrounded by his family. As he builds his own empire, there are only a few things in his life that aren’t really perfect as pie.

A few of those things shocked us in the prior books, some of those things were all part of the building plot of all five books and of course romance... in Match... almost ALL of those things come full circle.

Each Mister has had a piece of his past return. Ten years have passed and suddenly they can’t seem to escape the rape case that nearly ruined their lives all those years ago. With the only Mister left without his moment, everyone is waiting for Oli to come face to face with the woman that is going to be the key to the next phase. Only Oli isn’t quite ready to give up the fact that his past HAS returned. With all the Misters in Fort Collins, it’s only a matter of time before all hell breaks lose.

Oliver knew there was something about Katja “Kat” when he picked her up in that uniform. He knew she wasn’t legal, but there was something about her that made him offer her that ride, that took her home, that TOOK HER and then let her go. Four years later, Kat is back and using his own dating website to send him her very own x rated messages. But her return, his past, their past, the rape case, the other Misters – it’s all tied up and it’s all fucked up. The only thing you can do is sit back, hold on and prepared to have your mind blown.

Before I touch on the conclusion of the series, I have to talk about Oliver Shrike. I remember when Spencer and Veronica had Oli and we all just fell in love with this kid. We knew he was going to be just as smooth as his father. That he was going to have the heart of both his parents. And he did. He surpassed EVERYTHING I expected and wanted for him.

Filling Spence’s shoes isn’t easy. But all I can say is: Gimme more...Gimme more
Nuff said. That scene. OMG. I died because I drowned in the puddle it caused.

Oliver was dirty, sweet and so much deeper than what you saw on the surface. That depth started to show itself in Mr. Mysterious but it isn’t until you get Oliver Shrike in living color that you really see just how perfect he is.

For fans of this author, you will love the return to FOCO although you don’t get to interact with the other characters from R&R, just knowing they were down the street was enough.

Now onto the WTF ending of this series. Bits and pieces were given throughout all the books, but nothing ever really that would allow you to piece it together. And like with all the prior books, I tried hard to get a solid feel for how the story would end, what it all meant and I was still just left wandering out in the unknown. But this is HUSS, so she is going to give it to you, when she wants you to have it.

Mr. Match and the whole Mister’s Series was a suspense wrapped up in a romance that was trapped in a tangle of mystery. Bravo, for not only keeping it all straight throughout all the books but for leaving us readers with a few things to ponder and spin on our own. I will forever be trying to figure out what could have been for those small slivers. But my mind never would have taken me to this ending. It never could have fathomed this is what it was all about, how it was all going to end. And I LOVED IT. Every TWISTY TURN of excitement, passion, dirty – dirty – dirty SEX and I will forever be grateful that I was given FIVE MISTERS because HUSS knows this girl needs more than just one ;)

ARC

The Mister Series has all been standalone novels until now. While you can read any of the prior four releases in any order, Mr. Match is the grand finale of the entire series.

Mr. Match is FINALY here, from the moment I learned who Mr. Match was I was eager to read this book. I couldn’t wait to read about Oliver Shrike and jump back into one of my favorite book worlds. As soon as I realized this story was set in Fort Collins I felt at home.

I loved reading about Oliver's life and seeing so many familiar faces and places. I loved the second chance romance between Oliver and Katja. I actually wish their story had more of a focus, but again we had so many loose ends that needed to be tied up.

Oliver Shrike’s story is also the conclusion to the series and we finally get all our questions answered and in true Huss fashion, expect the unexpected. I love how Julie brought the Misters to life and created this world of secrets, mystery and intrigue to keep us coming back. I will miss these guys, but have loved reading their stories.

The mafia and the silver society!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💚💛
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌏
Character development: 😠☺️😋😉
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Heroes: Oliver Shrike (a.k.a. Mr. Match) - he doesn’t have a girlfriend because he doesn’t want to get any girl involved in his messed up crap. He knows that the rape allegations that he and his Mister friends went through in college were a setup and that even though they never went to trial, it still isn’t over even though it has been 10 years. Now he is a successful owner of a dating website, and he is the king of one-night stands.

The heroine: Katja Kaloahova (a.k.a. Kat) - she dated Oliver 4 years ago and still wants him. So, she starts making erotic videos for his company and for him specifically, since he happens to be the one that goes on to all the flagged accounts and bans them from the site. She comes from a crime family and had a rough life growing up.

The Story: When Oliver sees Kat’s account he is mesmerized. He can’t see her face, but can see her tattoos and knows immediately who she is. In her videos, she is painting on her body. He remembers 4 years ago, when he put a tattoo over her scarred skin and he wonders why she is back.

Oliver is the son of Spencer Shrike from the Rook and Ronin series, I have many of those books but have yet to read them, I will need to do that soon. I just love J.A. Huss, she always has terrific storylines and steamy intimate scenes between the two main characters. You can count on her to always have a sexy alpha Hero and fierce heroine. This book is no different.

Katja is back because she wants Oliver but she also has another reason and she is in trouble. Someone else is behind her return and wants her to do something. Also Oliver’s dating site is more than meets the eye, it is a marketplace for illegal data, though most people (including the rest of the Mister’s), don’t know that.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Joe Arden and Jill Redfield. I love Joe Arden, he is one of my favorite male narrators and has a nice deep, and gravelly voice and does a terrific job at everything he does. Jill Redfield is new to me, but she does a good job. She has a clear and pleasant voice.

This was the last book in the series and took care of a lot of the questions from the rest. It was really exciting! Full of murder, explosions, betrayals and sex. All the stuff that make these Mr. Books fun to read.

This book was bitter sweet. I'm sad to see this series end, but what an amazing ending an amazing series! I loved that all the Misters had their own story but also had a bigger story that connected all the Misters together with an epic ending in Mr. Match. I loved every single one of these guys and can see myself re-reading this series over and over. I highly recommend to readers who want more than just a romance novel. ARC provided by author.

In this book in the series we follow the secret life of Mr. Match and his long kept love of Katya who disappeared from his life 4 years ago and he's been patiently waiting for her return and now the wait is over because Katya is back and this is where all the stories of the previous mister series come together in an exciting, action, suspense filled drama. I loved it, loved all the characters and the hot, steamy sex. I loved the story line it was interesting and addictive, the only problem that I had with this story is that it was hard to keep track of and I got a little lost because the story was so intricate in it's plots from the other books and you needed all the little pieces to fit together. So my advice is to read them in one whole sequence because I left a too long of a gap in between reading the books.

Mr. Match is the fifth book in J.A. Huss’s Mister series and it’s Katja and Oliver Shrike’s book. We got the answers to all the questions we had. I know that it says that all the book in this series are standalone, but to enjoy them well it’s best that they are read in order.

Oliver Shrike is the son of Spencer Shrike of Shrike’s Bikes, and Veronica ‘Bombshell’ Shrike. Oliver Shrike is Mr. Match, it’s the owner of the Hook-Me-Up site, an intelligent, beautiful and rich man. Everyone question is why doesn’t he have a woman, especially if he owns a hook-up site. But Oliver found his love of his life 4 years back. And since then, he never wanted anyone. But fate decides to change his life, forever this time.

Katja Kalashova found her love of her life 4 years ago when she was seventeen. She had a rough life, a sad past and many secrets. Their love affair was unconventional. They were sexually and emotionally attracted to each other. But in order to save her sister and Oliver, she had to leave Oliver. But now, after 4 years she is back and she is trying hard to fight for her own happiness.

Of course, we discover the whole story and the people responsible for the Mr’s tragedy were they wore charged 10 years ago.

But will Oliver and Katja have a new chance to a new life and happiness?
Can‘t wait to read and discover the future books and stories of other characters.

5 Mr. Match Stars

Well holy freaking YEAH! What a way to complete the series.. I am in awe.. I little shocked and kinda sad it is done. I look forward to the audiobooks because I will get to experience them again in a different way.

Book 1 Mr. Perfect is my favorite of the whole series.. and this one is a very close runner up. So much happens, so much is revealed and you’re going to be gob-smacked I tell ya.

These Misters I swear they get under your skin and you don’t want to let them go. Oliver was probably the book after Mr. Perfect I was most looking forward to and he doesn't disappoint he is a naughty one with secrets of plenty.

I think that’s why Katya fits him so well, she likes to be seen but not if that makes sense to anyone who hasn't read the book it will when you do.

Ok I will stop typing what are you waiting for get your copy!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

5 And my heart wants Oliver Shrike Stars

The fact I got to see another Shrike man is a blessing in and of itself. The fact that he's an artist just adds a nice little cherry to the top of my Shrike pie. Seriously, I cannot get enough of this family.

As soon as Julie announced that Mr. Match was--and is--Oliver Shrike, I knew I would do everything I could to read his story. And since Mr. Match is book 5 in the Misters series--and canNOT be read as a standalone--I knew I would read every single one of those men to get to Oli.
Oliver Shrike is tender and caring. Deep and complicated. He is poetry incarnate. There is not one damn thing about him that requires adjustment or modification. Not his temperament. Not his body. Not his mind.

It was totally worth it. The ride has been fantastic and I am sad to see this series come to an end (does it really have to end though? Can't we just throw another Mister in there? The Society started with six men--I'm thinking that needs to come full circle).

Anyway, Oli's blast from the past shows up on camera. He runs the Hook-Me-Up website with his sister, Ariel, and Katya Kaloshova puts her body on screen for Oliver. He knows it's her because his words are still marking her body. He knows it's her because he'd recognize her anywhere. He knows it's her and he knows she's come back for him.
Katya Kalashova is some of the worst news I've ever had the pleasure of fucking.

In one of the hottest self-pleasure scenes I've ever gotten to read, Oliver Shrike dishes out just enough to leave the reader wanting more. More Oliver. More sex. Gimme more...Gimme more. He may deliver this scene, but it isn't without direction to Kat. "Then stick two fingers in your mouth and suck them like you used to suck my cock."

Oli is a dirty, dirty man.
"What part of 'whatever you want' don't you get?"
"Katya,"
he says, mimicking my tone. "What part of 'I like a little fight' don't you get?"

Just like his dad.

And I can say that with a straight face. I can also say that this apple did not fall far from the artistic, muscular, amazing tree.
We are animals. We fuck like animals. Primal and intrinsic and primitive.
Katya gives just as good as she gets. She may be back in Oliver's life to do a job, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want the one thing that has ever made her happy. She wants Oliver and she is willing to do just about anything to make it happen. Hopefully. As long as her sister is safe, she will do what she can to get her HEA with Oli.
"I'm gonna make you beg for it, Shrike."

Yes, this book has sex. Yes, this book is hot. But there is more going on than just a hook-up. There's a reason this book cannot be read as a standalone when the previous four books can. There's a reason you go into this totally fucked up and asking yourself what could possibly happen next. How do this five men connect beyond that initial rape charge at Brown? What brings this men together? We were left with more questions than answers in Mysterious so WHAT HAPPENS?!

And if the brief moment all of the Misters were together in Mysterious wasn't enough for you, these men are all in this book. Every. Single. One. Perfect, Romantic, Corporate, Mysterious, and Match (obviously).
He's not the most pleasant guy when he's irritable. But then again, neither am I. Actually, now that I think about it, none of us are. Mac is pretty even-tempered. But the rest of us? All assholes.

"I think they're a bunch of dumbasses who think with their cocks."

And that is why I love these men. It's a weakness.

But really, why is Kat back after four long years? What does she need from Oliver? Is she there to destroy him or save him?
I will throw everything away to keep her. I will betray everyone I know.

I want more.
More lies, more betrayal, more deceit, more fucked-up beginnings that lead to more fucked-up endings.
Bring it on, motherfuckers. We're ready.

"The Misters are back, gentlemen. And as much as people would like to say they're not interested in our debauchery, they are. So let's give them the headline they've been waiting a decade for."

These men are all different, but all brought together under the same charges. That rape case at Brown, eleven years ago. Because it's been more than a decade since that one fateful night brought them all together. What was Match's role in that night? Why did he go down for something he didn't do? Why did any of them take the heat for that night? They all come together in this epic conclusion to a series that I could have never predicted. It was a wild ride, Ms. Huss, and I thank you for every minute of it.

You express me better than I express myself. You shall be more to me than my poem.

His fingers are tugging on the collar of my coat, pulling it away from my shoulder, then slipping it down, along with the collar of my sweater, so he can see the mark he left on me four years ago.
One arm gathers me close as he leans in and kisses the scar hiding behind his inked words. "And here," he says, lips lightly brushing against my skin.
"And here," I say, tilting my head away to give him free access.
I hug him then. The way I used to, before I was sad. Before I was lost. Before…back when I was happy, but didn't realize it.
He hugs me back. "Come on," he says, pulling me away but grabbing tightly to my hand as he does it. "I've been waiting four years for this second chance."
So there it is.
Our choices made in the moment.
They will seal our fates forever, I think. And one day, years from now, I will look back on this night as the start of something and not the end. And I will feel nostalgic and sad, wondering how I could've missed the fact that things were perfect.

I mostly had just two thoughts while I read this. One, and I've said it before, I really probably should have finished the Rook and Ronin series before starting this one. I don't think it's necessary, but I'm guessing I would have appreciated things more had I read that series and its spin-off before the Misters. Or at least maybe had a better understanding of the past shit-storms and how they connect to these shit-storms.
The second thing was that I absolutely wait entirely too long in between books. I really think this is a series that's probably best read straight through, each book back to back. I don't generally like to read any series that way, but there is just so fucking much going on. I really had no recollection of a lot of the side players, and plots, and I'm sure I didn't pick up on a bunch of tidbits that were sprinkled throughout, but I wasn't lost, there's enough explanation to kinda refresh it.
So my plan in the (hopefully) not so distant future, after I read the next two books of course, I mean I'm this far in, might as well finish it. Anyway, my plan is to go back and re-read/finish Rook and Ronin, and all it's connected stories, then come back and re-read Misters. Because you really gotta hand it to Huss, she can write the fuck out of these stories. Half the time I didn't know how any of this shit could possibly be connected, or even wrapped up to make sense, but it does, and I can't imagine what it would be like to have to write it to make sense, to know how it all connects (or not know, but to make it all connect), to be able to lead your readers there without losing them in all the moving parts and convoluted clues…and…shit. What I'm trying to say is her books are impressive that way. They are absolutely good enough to warrant a re-read, and I will all but guarantee I pick up on shit I missed my first time through. So even though I'm not even at the end of this series, I'm already looking forward to reading it again.
As for Mr. Match, I liked Oliver and Katya, they weren't my fave couple, but they're good together. Nothing played out like I expected, at all, and I am absolutely not mad about that. So enough of my rambling, I'll get to the good parts. Most likely spoilers ahead…

But I'd love to go back in time. Be back in that loft that last night smelling those old tires. Be filled with angst about what was coming, what I was leaving behind, and then make a different choice.
Would we have stayed together if I had stayed? I wasn't even eighteen yet. Oliver was twenty-four.
I had a promise to keep and Oliver…well, he was still stuck in the past back then.
We never had a chance.
I look at my watch as I gaze down to the street below. I can see the tattoo shop, still open, down the block.
That's where Oliver and I ended up that last night. That was the last place I saw him - machine in hand, dipping the needles in the dark ink, squinting down at my skin in concentration as he inked his words on my body.
He erased my scars that night. Replaced them with promises.
I will kiss you here…
And he did. He kissed them all away.
Well, that's the past and it can't be changed. The rules of the game state that you get one chance for every moment. Make the wrong choice and it stays wrong forever.
Did I make the wrong choice?
I have to believe I didn't. I have to keep telling myself that all my choices and all my lies had a purpose that led me right to this moment in time.
Right where I'm supposed to be.
I might not like the circumstances and I know I won't like the outcome - at least as it pertains to Oliver. Once he finds out why I'm back he will make his own choice in his own moment and I already know how fast he will walk away.
But I made my choice a long time ago and I'm right where I'm supposed to be.

~

"Tonight I need sex, Oliver. And I need to keep my secrets for another day."
"Why?" I ask. It's irritating me. I expected her to be more forthcoming. I didn't expect I'd have to negotiate my way through this deal again. "Tonight, tomorrow, what's the difference?"
"Because I want to be happy. Just this once. And if you want promises about when I'll be willing to tell you everything, then I'll agree. But it will taint my night. If I have to make promises to you right now, then I'll worry about it. This night will turn into something stressful instead of the relief I really need. So choose carefully, Mr. Shrike. Do you want happy or do you want satisfied? I'll give you anything you want, including the name you're desperate for. But it comes at a cost."
I scrub my hands down my face and say, "I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable, Katya. I'm just trying to know you better, that's all. I want all our secrets on the table. I want them to pour out of us. Like a dam breaking. Water spilling over riverbanks, crashing into trees, and washing things away."
She sighs. "God, you always did have a way with words."
"And now you do too," I say, meaning her art. The career I gave her so that she could leave the idea of sex work behind her.
Katya leans into my chest again, her face right under my chin as she tips her head back to look me in the eyes. "You have always wanted what's best for me, Oliver. That has always been your weakness. Because I'm going to use it against you right now." She kicks off her clogs, unbuttons her jeans and shimmies out of them. She pulls her socks off and flings them into the puddle of clothes. "Do you want me happy? Or do you want my secrets."
"Bitch," I say, shaking my head. "You're such a bitch."
"A dirty bitch, Oliver. You're dirty bitch. So why not just-" She slips my leather jacket down my arms and lets it drop to the floor with a heavy whoosh of air. Then pulls my shirt up over my head until I help her take it off me. "Why not just go along and pretend with me? Pretend everything is great."
"It is great," I say, gently swiping a piece of hair away from her eyes. "I don't need to pretend. In fact, it's better than great. It's perfect. We are the perfect match."

~

I say nothing because this is the best part. Her words and my words are different in every way. But in context, they are the same thing.
Around my bike they spell out my longing for a new life, a new direction, a new way forward.
Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road.
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.

And around her bike they spell out the satisfaction I could only find in her.
I give you my love more precious than money.
Will you give yourself to me? Will you come travel with me?
Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?

Around her bike they are the completion of a journey.
I put my marker down and let out a sigh. Katya opens her eyes. "Are we done?" she asks.
I shake my head slowly. "No, darling. We're just getting started."
I fuck her for real then. For the first time since we met, I fuck her for real. Everything that came before this moment is junk. Trash. Pretending. And everything that will come after is genuine.
I place my hand over the tattoo just above my cock. The last promise I made that last night we spent together.
You express me better than I express myself.
You shall be more to me than my poem.

And yes, I was a kid too, even though I was twenty-four. Everything that came before that night I inked my promise on her body was childhood. Silly wants and wishes. Delusions and hallucinations. The world of dreaming just for the sake of dreaming. Younger Oliver and Younger Katya are gone.
There is only here and now.
I kiss her when we come. Her moans filling my mouth like my cock fills her pussy. The music playing on repeat. The sex tape that is so much more than a sex tape. It is art and I would play it in public to pay homage to our love, if I could.
I don't care that she's here to betray me. I don't care that she's made a deal with the devil. I don't care what my friends think of that. And I don't care about the consequences.
I love her.
The heart wants what the heart wants.
I will throw away everything to keep her. I will betray everyone I know. I will make my own deal, sell my own soul if I can just walk beside her in this life. Hold her hand as we face the reality of our decisions together. Give her a home in me, in my love. A safe place where no such thing exists.
I know she is filled with lies. Lies people told her. Lies she has told me and lies she has told herself.
And I don't care.
I have tried to be in control of things for as long as I can remember. It sucks. Making all the decisions sucks. Hiding from the past sucks. Keeping secrets sucks. I know hers, and now it's time for her to know mine.
I have been in control for far too long and this is where it ends.
I give it over to her freely. Willingly. Completely.
This is where it ends.

Mr. Match is the biggest mindfuck I have ever read, and that is really saying something! On top of that, the romance and the characters were top notch, too!

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Mr. Match finally brought all the loose ends together, but those ends weren't all neat and nice, oh no, Sir! They were messy. They were filled with lies. They took away some hope. They made people trust each other less. They took no prisoners. But they did clear up everything that needed to be cleared up. WOW what a ride the Mister series has been. Each of the first four books can be read in any order, but this fifth book should definitely be read last - it's the only one that isn't completely a stand-alone (apart from if you decide to read only this one, that is). And I know I have said it before, but Huss totally outdid herself with Mr. Match! I think she can be called the Queen of Outdoing Herself from now on.

Oliver Shrike was perfect in the role of Mr. Match, he was quite secretive, but when it came to Katya, he let everything go - at least it looked that way in the beginning. No more being careful, or hiding his feelings once he got to see her again. Katya, on the other hand, she was burning the candle from both ends, and she was not completely honest about anything. I did immediately take a liking to her though, even if I didn't trust her further than I could throw her - which, admittedly, isn't very far!

As always, I loved the interactions between all the characters, and those other Misters and their women were very much present for Mr. Match and the final showdown when it came to both the distant past and the last six months. With the mystery and the suspense culminating in an impossible tangle, I felt out of breath when I arrived at the end, and I suspect that was the case for other readers as well.

Well written, suspenseful, HOT, with complex characters and an even more complex plot, Mr. Match was fast paced and the dual point of view worked so well! Because while both Oliver and Katya kept secrets from me, they kept even more from each other, so I was able to at least imagine I could figure out a thing or two (I couldn't, though). If you enjoy romantic suspense with characters you want more of, this whole series is one you need on your shelves and in your hands.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Right now I can see ten family members as I look out my office window. My mom, my sister Jasmine, my Uncle Vic, my Uncle Vinn, and my Uncle Vonn are all standing out in front of Sick Boyz, looking up at the sign like it's the Virgin Mary crying or something.

I return to the present and sigh. Why is she back? I wonder. Why her? Why now? Why me?

JA Huss delivers a bittersweet, mind bending and explosive finale to such a heart pounding series! This was everything I hoped it would be. She has managed to wrap up, tie all ends of the Mister series in this book and laid it out flawlessly. Then she gave us yet another Mister to get hooked on and fall for. I didn't know Oliver Shrike—aka Mr. Match—can reel me in this hard with his story and his heart. I always saw him as this young, badass biker dude who owned and managed a dating website, and didn't have a girlfriend, but when Katya Kalashova entered the picture? Oh my goodness, I was a complete and total goner for this man. There's so much more to him than meets the eye.

Oliver Shrike is a genius. A genius who didn't mind getting his hands dirty. A guy who kept to himself, yet didn't mind showing and expressing his feelings for and to the girl he planned spending the rest of his life with. I think that's what snagged my heart the most with this man. I wasn't expecting that tenderloin , sweet side to him. His actions, his words, his small gestures all melted my insides. And all the more interesting? The whole story all boils down to him now. And he's willing to fight to death if it means saving and freeing the girl he loves the most from the kind of life she was dealt with and end her suffering once and for all.

In any way you look at the bigger picture, Katya Kalashova is indeed Oliver's perfect match. She's a girl he met four years ago. A girl he saved, or tried to, who has a sordid past and was forced to grow up early when her parents were killed right before her very eyes. Katya was born to a family tangled up in a clusterfuck of a web. She was left to fend for her and her sister alone. She gave up everything she has to protect what was left for her and just try to survive. Though along the way, she didn't have a choice but to make even more mistakes that might end up taking everything away from her all over again.

If you're looking for a series that will have your mind spinning, overflowing with questions and theories on every book, and have you wanting so much more, this is the one I recommend you start right away. These are not your typical romance books—oh no, far from it. It's a huge puzzle that will make you draw up your own conclusions, thinking if you're putting the pieces together correctly. The Misters will seriously shock and wake your brain cells up. Huss has done such a brilliant job creating this extraordinary world that will have you hooked and your blood pumping in no time.

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

Ahhh... Huss! You and your mind-tripping reads! I bloody love them, and you sure had my head in a spin reading Mr Match! It was amazing to see how much Katya and Oliver were connected. And how almost all loose threads were tied up. It was another complex, sizzling read and I was on edge right until the final page!

Katya, I knew was up to no good right from the start. I did like that she had history with Oliver, but I could see that she was holding back. She was a kind hearted person, looking out for those she loved, but went through events that no tenn should endure.

I liked that Oliver waited for Katya. Even four years earlier he knew she was the one. He was patient, but carried on the rest of his life as normally as he could. He had his own secrets, that took time to reveal, and boy did they catch me by surprise!

The chemistry between Katya and Oliver was off the charts! I loved seeing a little of Oliver’s father (Spencer) in him and how he expressed himself with his artistic flair! That made me swoon, seeing how romantic he could be.

I loved that this final book was set back in Fort Collins. It was good that all the Mister characters were together for the final showdown. I also got tiny glimpses at some of the original characters that made my heart swell for them.

The storyline... a twisted, evilly crafted, mind bender, and gosh how I loved it! It was interesting to see how things were tied together, and how deep it all went! I love the way that J.A. Huss always keeps me guessing. She weaves twist after twist into the story, and you never really know who the good/bad guys are. I'm looking forward to her next project, to see if she can blow my mind even more!

8/4/17 Update: I just finished the audible version of this book and loved it! I love the different experience we get when we listen to a book but specifically JA Huss. She does an amazing job at picking narrators and the stories always have a way of cming to life! 5-stars to this version as well! Loved it!

Original review (eBook):
The end is here. Mr. Match by J.A. Huss was an amazing end to an even more amazing series. We would expect no less from J.A. Huss. This is why she is a must-read author for me. She weaves intricate tales with twists and turns that keep you guessing.

Not only do we get new amazing characters in this series, we also get to see some old favorites. Mr. Match is none other than Oliver Shrike, son of Spencer and Veronica Shrike. You do not need to read any other book, except the Misters, but for the authors fanatic fans (myself included) this was a great nod to loved characters.

Oliver Shrike was absolutely perfect. He was an alpha who was also romantic, but also a whole lot of sexy. And he has met his perfect match in Katya Kalashova, though she had many secrets. Could Oliver trust her? Even so, their chemistry had the sparks flying off the pages.

After walking away four years ago, without any warning, she is back in Colorado. She works to get his attention in a very unconventional way, but boy does she get his attention! But what are her motives? Secrets? Is Oliver a part of her plans?

This story had me so captivated, I forgot the world around me. All I wanted was to finish the book, but savor each and every word as well. After so many clues, twists and turns, we begin to get answers. And finally, we get all the Misters and their Mrs. working together.

This was an amazing series by J.A. Huss and one I would definitely recommend. Mr. Match tied it all together and leaves you feeling satisfied.

Mr. Match by J.A. Huss was an amazing 5-star read for me.

Happy reading!

Starting with THE LOVE. I loved this entire series, how each book was so intricately woven with the snippets of 'who-dunnit'. I loved most of the main characters, as well as the humour and the gorgeous sexy bits inbetween. For me, the best scene over the five books was Young and Old Oliver and Katya - More... gimme more... gimme more. It was incredibly beautiful.

Now, here's where I differ, and I will happily put it down to the fact that I simply didn't understand what I was reading. I felt this book was overdone with the cloak-and-dagger sculduggery. Something new came out of the woodwork at every turn, no one gave straight answers, or full answers, which I found quite frustrating as this seemed to be the norm throughout this book. I love trying to guess who the culprit is, but so many theories and people were thrown into the mix, I gave up and just rode it out.

Five always seemed to be around in the first four books, but was notably absent in this one, especially when I expected him to play a prominent role.

So, as much as I loved the series as a whole, I didn't enjoy this book as much, specifically how everything played out.

This series has me like a kid in an amusement park, one book different from next, but just as enjoyable as the last. My stomach did flips with every revelation. If you like suspense and mind-blowing twists, you'll love this series.

Mr Match is the last book in this series, start from the beginning.

As much as I don't want to say this, I feel like I say it every time I read a Huss book. Expect the unexpected and prepare to be blindsided. Mr Match, as soon as I found out who he was... I needed this book like I needed air. This is a whole different series from her others, but they are linked, in a way, it seems almost all her books are. (No, you do not have to read any of her other series to love this one.) All the misters brought together through lies, betrayal, and tragic pasts. Each book gives you a taste, but the last meal is hard to swallow. The road is slippery, your stomach will flip when you slide. Give me a plot that's totally unpredictable and I'll beg you for more. JA Huss always delivers that sucker punch I crave.

SERIES REVIEW

You know that Pringles advert, "once you pop, you just can't stop," well that was absolutely the case with JA Huss's "Mister" series. Ok, that may be a tiny lie. You may get away with reading the first book and leaving a gap before starting the next but once you've got "Mr Perfect" and "Mr Romantic" safely under your belts, you can kiss goodbye to your life for the next few days, a week tops because you will want to devour this absolute gem of a series. You (like every single other person who read this series before you), will want to know the answer to the question that was on everyone's lips, "what the fuck happened that night?" Oh that darn question drove me crazy and kept me up night after night until all was revealed and then of course came the gasps, the shock, the palpitations, the sweaty palms. Uh huh, prepare yourselves peeps because this is one hell of a bumpy, crazy, wild ride and I loved every single freakin' bit of it.
I feel like i just walked into a trap. I feel like a rabbit looking up into the eyes of a wolf.

As I've said on many an occasion, this author's story telling abilities are second to none and although she has written numerous books (like maybe a gazillion), I never feel like they are "samey" or that there are similarities in the story lines. But this story line, what can I say other than this was pure genius on Julie A Huss's part. The way this series was written ensured that although (in theory) each book could be read as a standalone, in practice that was never (and I mean NEVER) going to happen. The sub plot, that wasn't a sub plot but was actually the pièce de résistance had me hook, line and sinker. God I could talk about it but I can't, I just can't because this is one you will want to read without any knowledge of what's to come. That element of surprise will seriously knock you on your ass.
I can't believe I'm so turned on. Am I supposed to be turned on? Am i supposed to like this?

So on to the characters, boy did these guys test me. Having read "Mister Perfect" and "Mr Romantic," I honestly thought I'd got these books and these men and their leading ladies sussed. I thought I'd worked out the formula for what was to come but nope. Book three turned out to be such a huge game changer as did books four and five. None of the characters were alike. Some I absolutely loved. Some I just wanted to hug and some, well some were really going to have to work their asses off to win my affections.
An honest enemy is always better than a friend who lies.

What else to say without spoiling anything, nothing I guess other than the whole series is a must read. This whole story from start to finish was dramatic, full of twists and turns, action packed, sexy and swoony and full of mystery and suspense. I could honestly see this on the big screen some day. The icing on the cake for me was the link to some of Julie's other series. When an author does this and does it well, it will blow your mind as this series did. Go grab it. What are you waiting for!!!!
The rules of the game state that you only get one chance for every moment. Make the wrong choice and it stays wrong forever.

So ratings: The whole series gets a ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for the genius way it was written.
Mr Perfect: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr Romantic: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr corporate: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr Mysterious: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr Match: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

OMG! I LOVED IT! The ending was perfect! JAH, my hero.

Mr. Match by JA Huss is the 5th and final book of the Mister series. I won't go into what Mr. Match is about, you can read the blurb or the other reviews if you want to know. I'm all about how the series made me feel and why I recommend it. To say I loved this series is putting it mildly. This series is addictive. At the end of books 1 through 4, I immediately started jonesing for the next book. After reading Mr. Match, I thought Holy Crap! Who'd a thought?

The first book in the Mister series, Mr. Perfect, starts out as a humorous office romance. But then.....oh.... but then each book gets progressively edgier, darker, sexier, twistier, and turnier. Ok, I made up the words twistier and turnier, but you know what I mean!

I felt like the author, took me on my own private journey on a magical mystery tour through a fun house where I came out at the end all distorted not knowing what the hell happened but knowing that I liked it and wanted to go on this ride again! It's classic JA Huss.

So bottom line, Mr Match is the icing on the cake with a cherry on top. The Mister series was the whole enchilada, the real deal, the big BANG! Was it worth it? Hell yeah! It was worth 5+ stars! JA Huss: I love you man! Oh, by the way, don't you dare skip the EOBS! No, don't you dare! I mean it!

I'm happy to reach the end of the Mister series and sorry I will start to ramble but that's the way the series was for me. Even until the end I kept getting all the Misters confused, which one was Mr Corporate and his real name was what, Pax and West were Mister which? These were just questions running through my head every time that I'd start a new book I'd try to remember who the previous Mister was. For some reason the only two Misters who I could remember their name and stories were the first, Mr Perfect Mac and the Mister Match Oliver. I wonder why that is?
I'm happy to see most of the questions answered and ends tied up. I found 60% of Mister Match kind of boring. The part with Oliver and Kat started to bore me because it didn't seem that the book was really going any where. It started to get interesting when other people started coming to town and things started happening. I am looking forward to seeing what happened to Five, I'm sure he's some where looking for Rory.

I'm sad to see the Mister Series end, but what an ending it was. I couldn't wait to read Oliver's story because if he is anything like his father Spencer Shrike I knew I would be hooked. This is a mind fuck read and I wouldn't have it any other way. All answers where there about why all the Misters were involved. When Oliver and Kat are together holy shit, I don't think it could've gotten any hotter. Oliver was sweet, sexy and how romantic was his poems. I will miss all the characters in this series and really wish it wouldn't end. Another mind blowing series and can't wait to read JA next book

I think Mr. Match MIGHT be my favorite of the Misters. I love his artist's soul - the poetry and art we're pretty great. And made for some very unique sex scenes! I was a bit frustrated with myself reading this because I forgot a decent amount of the plot that happened in the previous 4 books, but thankfully Julie did a good job of gradually bringing it back to me. I love the twists and revelations in this book for sure. Katia was a great leading lady and I really felt for her and all she'd been through, especially with trying to care for her sister.

I got a little lost understanding exactly what was going on with the deep web, like I understood the concept but the WHY missed me. I think if I understood the deep web (dark web?) better it would have made more sense to me.

I'm very curious to know what Mr. and Mrs. is about since I felt like this book's ending really wrapped things up extremely well. Coming to audio in January I believe :) Because I'm loving the audio for this series and definitely will continue that way!

I really really enjoyed this final Mister book.

The story finally unfolded and more of it made complete sense.

I’ve really enjoyed this whole series and a little sad it’s ending.

Mind. Blown. Yup, that's pretty much my review for the conclusion of a series that I'm frankly not ready to end. What started out as a cute little borderline RomCom, Mr Perfect, turned into something so much more.

I should NOT have been surprised. We are talking about J.A. Huss after all!!

I didn't see that coming.
That either.

I guess I'm still processing it all in my mind.
'Cause "Mind. Blown." and all.

I must admit to liking this book slightly better than some of the others.
Not because they weren't good, but because they weren't about Oliver.

I really like Oliver.
He's shady AF, but a poet at heart.

Here's my heart, sweetie.
It's all yours.

This is it... This is the end and all of the questions are about to be answered but be ready because nothing is as you thought it would be and OMG what an amazing conclusion to an equally amazing series.
Let me start off by saying that JA Huss is one of my favorite authors of all time and this book is just another reason why. Throughout the Mister series we have gotten clues of the bigger picture while getting to know these amazingly sexy men and the women that bring them to their knees. Mr. Match is no exception.
Oliver Shrike aka Mr. Match is a sexy businessman who with the help of his sister Ariel runs a matchmaking site. What no one knows is that, there is more to the website than we think.
Katya is a blast from the past for Oliver, his “ghost”, after spending 6 months with Oliver, she disappears with the promise to return to him, 4 years later she is back and it couldn’t be a worse time for him. However not everything is as it seems with her and she has her own secrets that she has been hiding.
With a race against the clock, who will come out of the crazy, twisted story alive?
All of the misters have problems and insecurities that have come with the Brown case and are all working through it but for Oliver it has always gone a little deeper than the rest.
This whole series was an amazing ride of WTH moments and I am not sure how JA Huss comes up with these stories but god I hope nothing changes because she is absolutely brilliant. You may think you know what is coming but you don’t and you will not figure it out until the end. I highly recommend this series but start at the beginning so that you can get the full effect. You will not be disappointed.
