Hitchhiking is a bad idea but Caden is desperate. When she accepts a ride from the first car to come by she meets Gabriel. He's her age, hot, and the closest thing she has to a savior. Problem is, he is a total jerk. With nowhere to go, Caden convinces him to let her stay with him for one night. Gabriel reluctantly lends a couch.
That night Caden wakes up to strange noises. Concerned, she rushes into Gabriel’s room, already anticipating his bad temper. Instead, he’s kind, sweet, and suspiciously harmless—nothing like the man who gave her a ride. He seems like a different person altogether, and claims he is. It is only a matter of time before Caden realizes he suffers from sleep walking, or maybe even something more serious. She doesn’t know yet but by night he is Tom, and by day he is Gabriel. Caden finds herself drawn to Tom and the mystery of who he is.
For Gabriel, Caden is an annoying mistake. One night turns into many, and despite all his anger towards her, she stays. She even seems to accept him and his flaws, but he still doesn’t trust her—she knows too much about him, even though he hasn’t shared anything. When he drops his guard and kisses her, she calls him Tom. Furious and hurt, he demands an explanation. When she explains that he becomes Tom at night, Gabriel realizes that Caden has stayed for Tom, not him. Crushed, he kicks her out, knowing—hoping—she'll return. But if she does, will it be for him? Or will she come with a different agenda? One that may destroy him.
The hunger is encompassing, so she feeds the beast books. But the hunger never settles... so she writes. E.V. Fairfall has an itch that drives her to the world of story telling. With several published short stories, and soon several books (fingers crossed), she explores the topics of humanity and hardship.
During the daylight hours, a book is always within reach. She spends her nights reading with her husband, surrounded by towers of tomes and three furry children curled in close. If she isn’t reading, she is browsing bookstores or hiking, but always awaiting her next adventure.

This was quite a strange story about a boy with two different identities, and the girl who tried to figure out what was going on.
I felt quite sorry for Rebecca/Cade, especially because things were so bad that she felt the need to change her name and run away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. Hitchhiking, and then staying at a strangers house could have caused her to end up dead or worse, so she really did take some big risks.
The storyline in this book was about Caden meeting Gabriel and discovering his other personality – Tom, who only showed up at night, and seemed to be more of a child than a grown man. I did find this story a little strange in places though, and the pace was a little too slow for me.
There was a little bit of romance in this one, but it was also a bit weird as Gabriel had this other personality inside him, who came across as very child-like.
The ending to this book was a cliff-hanger, and if anything these characters have gotten themselves into even more trouble than they were in at the start of the book! I wonder how on earth they are going to be able to solve this mess! 6 out of 10
An intriguing story that really keeps the reader guessing. While not quite a mystery we get a peculiar situation that demands answers from us as spectators.
Rebecca is a teen girl recently abandoned by her abusive boyfriend. So, starting in the first chapter, she decides to call herself Caden. Hitching a ride with a boy named Gabriel, she goes to his condo and starts to live with him in return for cooking/cleaning.
Caden only feels comfortable wearing black, an estranged relationship with her mother, and no real friends to call on. So it is easy to take some sympathy with her plight. However, she is apparently an amazing cook. Too good, in my opinion, for a teenager! This girl makes some pretty fancy dishes. I have never known any teenagers to even come close to what she does. She is quickly attracted to Gabriel, despite his crappy attitude. Frankly, I think she is just asking for more trouble. But what kind of story would we have if she left?
Gabriel comes from money and is trying to avoid his parents so he snuck off to a condo they own in another state. He is a bit elusive, hot tempered and has a controlling side. But under that gruff exterior he seems like he MIGHT have a heart. Also underneath everything is a side to him few ever see...
At night Gabriel becomes Tom. While of the same body, the eyes change and Tom is only of the mentality of a young boy. Every night he is locked up in the bedroom, in the dark. Yet with Caden around, he has his first friend. Is Tom a split-personality or something more?
Overall I liked this book. Trying to figure out what is going on with Tom/Gabriel kept me riveted to the pages. The manner in which we get the story keeps the reader wanting more and content with the pace. The romance is light to moderate. While there is a fast attraction and desire it is not the insta-love "this is my soul mate" mentality. Such a refreshing change of pace!
The thing that bothers me the most is that I do not see these characters as teenagers. How can Gabriel's parents let him leave on his own each summer? Why isn't Caden's parents doing more to keep her from living with strange men (well her mother does finally step in a little too late)?! They both cook really well and act and think more like they are in their early twenties. Not once did I get a "teen" feel from them.
Caden trying to figure everything out by herself also drives me a bit crazy. from trying to solve the mystery and "fixing" Gabriel, to a certain situation at the end that really riled me up. What she does there is the closest thing to "teen" possible behavior we get.
The ending is a cliffhanger that really has me with even more questions. So now I must wait impatiently for the next book.
**I received an eArc copy of this book in exchange for a fair/honest review.**
2021- So after a long time, I finally got access to the second book, and, due to how long it had been, a re-read was in order. Thoughts: I don't fully understand the name change Caden does. Like, she mentions being previously weak but it isn't well fleshed out. And what is with all these people just letting her crash with them? Especially when they don't even know each other. I feel that her family dynamics needed more explanation. At first I didn't like Face's character (who goes by FACE?!) but he grew on me later in the book.
I loved her first book and debut novel Transformed. I loved it so much. I feel bad because it took me so long to get the review up. One word LIFE. This word is a killer when you get very busy doing things. Anyways this book was amazing. I can't tell you how much I loved it. I thought her first book was great. This book was way much better on so many levels. Not that her first book wasn't amazing. But this just like rose to my expectations. I mean I had high expectations already but wow. I couldn't put my kindle down when I was reading it.
The plot was absolutely amazing. I would never think of it and I'm so excited to see where she takes this series. So Rebecca is treated poorly. Throughout the plot you couldn't help feel bad for her. Though she started fresh with a new name hoping it would lead her to a new life away from everything. Her new name is Caden. This same night she meets Gabriel. And he lets her come along with him. That very night we meet Tom who is a total sweet heart. He is like a big kid. Caden feels like she needs to protect him. At first she was freaked out because she wasn't sure what was going on. I mean who wouldn't? I don't want to say too much because you know that would spoil things but the next section is what I want to happen. If you have not read the book you have been warned.
This of course is the first book in the series so I have high expectations for the next books. Though there is a list of things I do want to happen. Number Rebecca or Caden. Whatever you want to call her MUST end up with Gabriel. I mean the ending. He wakes up doesn't know who what happened and how he got to where he was. Then the letter asking her what happen. I was like Noooooooo. You guys should have saw my face. I need them to be together. Second thing is I really want to know what is happening on with him and Tom. I'm pretty sure we will hopefully since most authors tell us what is really happening. I loved how this isn't a love triangle at all plus no insta love. Though I hope this tense feeling that is I really like you but I'm not sure how to say. And I'm really messed up to. The next thing is this might sound cruel but I want her mom to be gone. She is one of those parents who don't care or won't listen to anything their child says. She made me so mad. Almost as mad as Mara Dyer's parents totally off subject. Besides that she was so annoying.
I know this review might sound confusing but I just wrote what I was feeling because I loved this book. I want to say thanks to the author E.V. Fairfall for letting me review another one of her books. I can't say how much I love your writing skills and how your one of my favorite authors.

Title: Sleeping Tom Author: E.V. Fairfall Pages: 343 Genre: Contemporary Age Group: Young/New Adult Release Date: February, 14th 2015 Happily Ever After: Point of View: Third Overall Rating: ★★★★
Unpredictable and compelling read that will make you devoured this book in one sitting. This book was very unique, and different than others I've read, it was intriguing to say the least. I have to admit I really couldn't get into the story until thirty percent but after that it was a page turner I loved how the characters were well written and felt the connection to all of them even the secondary characters.
The first book I've read by this author and it didn't disappoint what so ever. We find out that Gabriel has dissociative identity disorder right off the bat. If I was Caden I would have went bat shit crazy because I felt like none of the characters got any sleep. By night he is Tom, and by day he is Gabriel. The characters not only were trying to unravel themselves you felt like you were trying to unravel them and their mystery, especially Gabriel/Tom.
The reason why I gave this novel four stars instead of five wasn't that I didn't love this book, because I totally did but the fact the beginning could have been a lot better. But come on, I need the second book as soon as possible because I just need to know more about Gabriel. I crave books like this and I know it will not leave my mind anytime soon. Thank you Miss Fairfall for giving me the chance to read this magnificent book of yours!
I love every bit of it; how its so down to earth and its simplicity was what made this book memorable to me.
This book revolves around a teenage boy with multiple personality disorder and how a teenage girl, who loves the one and care for the other, try and make two into one. This story is also much about Caden finding her true self; will she be Rebecca or will she be Caden while finding a remedy for the Gabriel/Tom.
I understand the complicated and mixed feelings of Caden towards Gabriel and Tom. Heck, if I was in her shoes, I might have to turn and run but at the same time I may stay. Why? Just Because. Gabriel was. . . intense. Tom was. . . safe.
See the complication?
I like stories like this because it talks about the struggles teenagers face each day and night and how they cope or do they even cope at all?
The ending was splendid! I was expecting a "happily ever after" or a "super tragic ending", instead I got a cliff hanger!
I cannot wait for the next book and this book is a 5 star rating for me. :)
The story started right away, and it is very gripping from the start. The subject is interesting, and the events just kept rolling. Not one second of boredom. The plan was to read this as a buddy read, but once I started, I couldn't put it down. And before I knew it, I had reached the end.
We start off by meeting Rebecca, abandoned on a bridge under the rain by her abusive ex-bf Sean. After playing with the idea of just jumping off the bridge, she decides that he is not worth it, and she deserves to have a fresh start in her life, starting with changing her name to Caden! Her knight in a shining saab, Gabriel, is driving home and finds her hitchhiking, having never done this but thinking he could use some karma points in his life, offers her a ride but is at a loss when she tells him that she has no where to go. This leads to him making the offer of spending the night on the sofa at his condo - On one condition, she leaves in the morning.. This turns into a weird and confusing encounter during the night as she meets his alter-ego, Tom. A lot happens from then, and we get to see all characters and their struggles.
The multiple POVs worked well in giving the reader a better understanding to what was really going in each character's mind. I can't wait till the next book "Waking Gabriel" comes out! I need to know what happens next.

E.V. sent me a copy of her book for an honest review of it so here I go...
Summary of book- Read the description on the GR Sleeping Tom page. ;) Sorry (not sorry).
Ending of book/Spoiler- After lots of fights, crazy moments, realization of love, and such, Gabriel and Tom's shifts switch. So I guess Gabe (Can I call him Gabe?) now has Tom's nightshift and Tom is a little boy during the daytime. Wow, that did catch me off guard, sorta.
Alright, now for my random spouting off of my love for this book- Alright, so I have heard of MPD before, but I've never really known much about it. Yeah I saw that one episode of Psych where the guy has Multiple Personality Disorder and I've found it interesting... BUT now it has come into a whole new light. Time for bullet points (not actually points, but just numbered though. Darn, they don't have bullet points).
Point 1. Laura and Cade's (Can I call her Cade???) relationship was great. And by great, I don't mean functional and perfect. Of course I just mean entertaining. The whole story about Laura hiding dysfunctional relationships with her daughters and ex-husband and trying to portray a perfect family was very entertaining to me. Laura also made me really upset. :) She just seemed like the kind of person who'd never understand what Cade (I like Cade) was feeling. I also agree that Laura was just shoving her rejection from her ex-husband (By the way, did he have a name?) onto Cade. You know what, Laura needs to suck it up and let it go. End of story.
Point 2. Okay, did I miss it or something, but I don't recall Cade's dad's name? Did Cade and Laura hate him so much as to not mention his name? This just bugs me. Alright then, I'll just call him "Jerk Dad That Needs To Suck It".
Point 3. I love Gabriel, and Tom is annoying. Alright, here's the whole part about Gabe/Tom. First off, we all learned a valuable lesson from this book. 1. Don't hitchhike 'cause the driver that picks you up might turn out to have MPD with anger issues/Peter Pan problem of not wanting to grow up. 2. Don't pick up hitchhikers 'cause you may fall for them and they'll make your life complicated. This just makes me like- Still Point 3. Gabe really should have seen a counselor to deal with those anger issues. Seriously. He ruined a perfectly good coffee mug/I swear he was about to punch Cade about 10 times in the book. Other than that, he sounds really good looking and has a soft spot for Cade. I also do believe that Cade likes Gabe more than Tom. Tom is just so... Tom. If I were to rate Gabe out of 5 stars I think he'd be a 3. *** Now Tom was like the annoying little bro/best friend of Cade. He just didn't understand her subtle hints about anything, and all he wanted to do was play darn games. Almost made me sad though because he never got to "grow up" unlike Gabe. Hmmm. I'd say Tom gets 3 and a half stars. ** and 1/2 * And then there's Caden. Cade was nice. I liked her. She didn't throw mugs, but she did make good food. Mmmmm, food. She was like a mother to Tom, and a confused girlfriend to Gabe (though still not sure if Cade reached Gabe's special criteria for a girlfriend title). Cade gets a 4. **** Other characters- Face (I ended up really liking him. Probably my favorite character.) 5. ***** Keira- (You know what, Keira sucked. She doesn't deserve a star.) 0. HAHAHAHAHAH. Angelica- Meh. 1. * Sean- I wish Sean would've died in the car crash. -5 -*****
So to sum up that rambling up there- The whole angry Gabe/nice Tom shifts were amazing!!! E.V. worked those time schedules well and made this book worth my reading. Seriously, that butterfly also added a whole 'nother darn twist to this twisty road of roads. (made no sense).
Any who... I loved this book a lot. I FINISHED THIS BOOK IN TWO DAYS. Do you know what that means? That means that this book was amazing. I don't even remember the last time I read a book that made me stay awake till 1:00 am. (I think it was Twilight, but I shouldn't say that out loud 'cause people would hate me for reading that...)
Point 4. I DON'T CARE WHAT SEAN OR GABE THINK, SEAN'S CAR IS DARK GREEN AND NOT BLACK. Dude, this is just probably the biggest thing about the book. They have to get their colors right. Next thing you know Gabe will think that Green is Red and then he'll go through a red light and get hit and killed in a car crash. (Speaking of crashes, I laughed in the end when Cade hit Tom. Sorry, I couldn't help it. But it did the "Shift switch" twist. Ooooooh.) Anyways, BLACK IS NOT DARK GREEN. GREEN CAN NEVER BE BLACK.
Point 5...... um....
(Also, the -1 star is for the swearing (Yuck, don't like swearing.) and for Cade and Gabe being a bit too physical for me (Yeah, I'm old fashioned so suck it).
Bonus- My fav. quotes of the book- "Sean's truck was dark green. He always insisted it was black, but it wasn't; green could never be black." ...see what I'm talking about? "The car that pulled up was much newer than Sean's car, and it wasn't a truck, but a mid-sized sedan. It was black; not green, but black." "His hair was blacker than all of her black clothing and swept to the side in messy strands." BLACK. "He would probably have to lend her something dry to wear. Would a Goth wear clothes that weren't black?" No. "'I'm sorry, I...I heard a noise'. What the heck were you doing? Hitting your head against the wall?" No, of course he wasn't hitting his head again the wall... he was full on body slamming against the wall. Didn't ya'll hear that Gabe is a sumo wrestler????? "'Do you want to know what my criteria is for a boyfriend?' ... Caden cleared her throat so he wouldn't mishear what she had to say. 'Love'." Awwwwwww "'I'll get you a new bra." -Gabe "'No, that's weird'." -Cade Come on son. "'...Could I call you Omelet'?" ... I like that nickname. I actually do. Should I go by 'Omelet' from now on? Hm.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
In all honesty it took me a while to get into this book. I wasn't a fan of the poor life choices the main protagonist was making right off the bat. I began to realize that was because I've read too many of those "pixie tough chick" books lately. There are many women in this world that think like Caden and subject themselves to these kinds of situations. I began to read this book as more of a factual account of life events than a fictional one. E.V's characters, though abrasive at times, are very realistic and captivating. I also enjoyed the idea behind the plot. These two characters really need each other to figure out where to go next n their lives and I enjoyed taking that journey with them. The mystery behind the multiple personality disorder was intriguing and kept me flipping pages. I really enjoyed E.V's writing and her descriptions of food. My mouth watered every time I read this book. That ending really made me eager to read the next installment in this series. Overall this book had a beauty in the beast vibe. Gabriel was our abrasive beast and Caden was our studious Belle. I kind of wished that when Caden had her "stand up for herself moments" they seemed more forceful and less pitiful. I hope she goes through more character development in the next book. My favorite character from the book has to be Face. I absolutely loved him. I am so appreciative that I was granted the opportunity to review this book. E.V is an amazing person and I enjoyed reading her book.
I enjoyed this book so much that I had to stay up until 1 in the morning to finish it yesterday! The story line is so different and unique from anything that I have ever read before. You don't see many things coming so it keeps you on your toes, especially the cliffhanger at the end really makes you want to jump to the second book right away! So you follow Caden (formally known as Rebecca) who has just got out of a really bad relationship and her boyfriend just left her. Caden couldn't go back to her mom and admit her mom was right about her ex boyfriend so she goes hitchhiking since she has nowhere else to go. That's where this attractive jerk named Gabriel picks her up, let's her stay the night but wants her out in the morning. Luckily she can bribe Gabriel with food and he let's her stay around longer. Caden realizes that Gabriel is not just Gabriel...but is also Tom. Can't say more without giving it away you will just have to read it but, my favorite character in this was Face :)
This wonderful contemporary YA read explores identity: those identities that we choose and those that we're forced into. When Rachael flees an abusive relationship, she decides to remake herself as a stronger woman, someone named Caden.
With no other recourse Caden decides to hitchhike to escape her situation. She is picked up by a reluctant young man named Gabriel. He begrudgingly agrees to let Caden spend the night in his apartment. However, in the middle of the night, Caden is awoken by a loud noise coming from Gabriel's room. When she goes to investigate, she finds a confused man who will only answer to the name Tom.
Despite giving it 4 stars this is probably one of the most interesting book I've read this year.
Rebecca who changed her name to Caden after what happened with her ex meets Gabriel after hitch hikingride with him. Gabriel is nasty to her but when night comes he's a different person. But as she spends more time between Gabriel/Tom, she knows something is up plus she's starting to have feelings for Gabriel.
I felt for Caden's situation. What with her family and her ex. I hated especially how she was treated. I understood her at the same time I think she made the wrong choice regarding Sean. I disliked her mother. No one is perfect but at the same time I felt she could have done better for Caden. Caden's reasons also have some valid point. But I'm happy for Caden. She's finally taking the right direction regarding her life albeit differently.
Gabriel's character was very interesting. His character fits him. He wasn't that nice to Caden at the beginning but somewhere along the way, he changed. It was a good improvement. I would like to know more about his past especially how his situation came to be. While Gabriel is the adult, it seems Tom is the chilld but he sometimes act mature. I wonder how things will be for him.
I was right about this book. It would end in a cliffhanger. I kept on checking for the title to see if it's part of the series but nothing. I had a feeling the conclusion to this story won't end. I also kept on checking the percentage on where I'm at and judging from where I'm reading there doesn't seem to be a true ending for it. I was shocked near the ending because of that little incident. At the same time, I wonder why Tom chased after Caden? And now, they were in that situation.
I would also like to share that I knew someone who had this disorder but the reason for it was because of stress. His other personality though can stay for days. Not the day/night situation with Gabriel. So sometimes when his himself he gets disoriented about the days and doesn't remember anything during those days he blocked out. Luckily, it stopped when he was in college.
I was ecstatic when Caden received that letter but alas it was the end. I wonder what's going to happen next and how Caden will explain the situation to Gabriel. But I'm so relieved that Gabriel's back.
I also wonder how many books will be in this series?
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book went in a slightly different direction than I thought it would. That's good. Most YA books have become a bit too predictable these days. I thought this would be more paranormal. Either way it was great.
Caden was a bit difficult for me to identify with. She just got out of an abusive relationship and is struggling to figure out who she is and where she belongs. She has nowhere to go, which is why she ends up hitchhiking and accepting a ride and a couch to stay on from Gabriel. I could always understand Caden's underlying motivations, even when I totally disagreed with her. Beyond her abusive ex-boyfriend, Caden has no friends and an awful mother. The type of mother who told her "love isn't real." Well no wonder she's a bit messed up!!
Staying with Gabriel she encounters a mystery - he's a totally different person at night. She tries to unravel the mystery of why and how this can be. Who is he really? Is he Gabriel or Tom or both?
In trying to unravel the mystery of Gabriel/Tom, she starts to understand the different parts of her own personality. She doesn't want to be the person she was when she was with her ex. So she tries to change herself into a bad-ass. But eventually that doesn't quite fit either. It's an interesting parallel between her situation and Gabriel's.
And the end!! Omg I cannot wait for the next book to get here!!
Also, the writing is great!
Her body reminded him of a black hole sucking in all light and happiness, conveniently located in the passenger seat of his Saab
4.5 Stars! I am happy to say I really enjoyed this book! It was so intriguing and different from anything I have ever read. The characters, while super irritating at times made totally sense for this story. I especially enjoyed that Gabriel and Tom, even though the same guy, had such contrasting personalities. While Gabriel was a jerk most of the time, Tom was really childlike. Something else I really enjoyed about this story is how confused you are about where the story was actually going to go. It kept you on your toes, and I was unable to predict anything that happened. That definitely kept me turning the pages. Another plus is the writing was fantastic, and it sucked me in immediately. The only issue I had with the book was I felt like the relationships in it progressed a bit too fast. I wouldn't call it instalove, but it was definitely more quickly than I would have expected. Other than that, I really enjoy this book, and I am looking forward to reading the second book!
Thank you E.V Fairfall for providing me with a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review :)
I really liked Sleeping Tom, it was really different to anything I've read before. Rebecca/Cade was an interesting character - I felt sorry for her, she seemed to have been through a lot with her ex and with her family, but she was quite brave to do some of the things she does! I liked Gabriel, he was a bit moody and grumpy but he wasn't a bad person, especially since he took Cade in when she had nowhere to go. I wasn't sure on Tom though, he was much more childlike and whiny at times! The ending was definitely a cliffhanger! I'm really looking forward to reading the next book!
This is probably the most intriguing, unique, and interesting book that I've read in awhile. I was conflicted at first but after I started getting more into the book, I honestly could not put it down. I somehow could relate to some of the characters, they were very unpredictable and very interesting. I love everything about this book. Hopefully, there will be a next book because I can't wait to read more.
Oh my holy cow!! What a thrillingly mysterious yet charming book!! I loved every bit of it and Im ANXIOUS for the next book!!! Goodness Im still on a high from that book! Awesome and here is a link to my video review! https://youtu.be/C5wY66jhbBM
Sleeping Tom is made all the more intriguing by the fact that E V Fairfall explores the idea of multiple personalities, without crossing the line between reality and the paranormal. At first, Caden assumes that Tom is another person, living with Gabriel, who she needs to rescue. In researching the subject further, she realizes that Tom is just a compartmentalized area of Gabriel's psyche, who, as a result of trauma or abuse has retained his childlike qualities. It is not just through E V Fairfall's creation of Gabriel that the idea of duality is examined. In the beginning of the story, we meet Rebecca, who has been manipulated by her boyfriend. Rather than jump from the bridge she stands on, she decides to become Caden. To her, a new name means adopting a different set of personality traits, " Caden. It fit her better. It had to. She would make it fit; she would change into a new girl. This time she would do things right. She wouldn't mess everything up." Caden discovers that there is an object which is precious to Tom and is possibly the key to his awakening. This is a decorative butterfly, broken on the first night she meets him. According to animal symbolism, butterflies represent "powerful transformation", "renewal, rebirth" and "the world of the soul". Tom is determined to keep the butterfly, even retrieving it from the rubbish, but when Caden realizes its significance, the consequences are beyond anything we could have imagined. Sleeping Tom is a compelling novel, in which E V Fairfall combines psychology and romance. The conclusion to the story is unpredictable and the reader finishes, craving the book's sequel.
E. V Fairfall has done it again! I have been lucky enough to receive an ARC of Sleeping Tom from her, and I have to say I loved it! This book drew me in from the very beginning, not to mention it has an amazing cover as well. This book was such a great concept, it is always interesting to read stories about people with multiple personalities, this is the third one that I have read, and by far my favorite one. E. V Fairfall was able to write such a simplistic story, but it grabs you in. As I read the story I was a bit conflicted just as Caden was; Tom was defiantly more like a child and a friend then Gabriel was. Gabriel was someone she was attracted to and maybe even loved and all she wanted to do was to help Gabriel. I’m not sure that I liked the anger that Gabriel had at times, kind of seem to have aspects of Caden’s ex Sean, but never laid a hand on Caden, which I was very happy about. After finishing this story, I still have so many questions that have been left unanswered. The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that I have to wait to read the second installment, Waking Gabriel!
When I was contacted by the author to read and review "Sleeping Tom," I'll admit I was a little hesitant at first. I read E.V. Fairfall's other book "Transformed" as well. Because "Transformed" was so good, I decided to give this one a try. "Sleeping Tom" was AMAZING. For the first few days I had the book, all I did was read. The vivid details and excellent story line made way for a very interesting read. The characters were developed quite nicely and every turn they came to keeps you on your feet.
The story begins with a girl named Rebecca whose abusive boyfriend leaves her stranded in the middle of nowhere. She considers jumping off a nearby bridge, but she changes her mind and gets picked up as a hitchhiker by a guy named Gabriel. She soon finds out about his multiple personality disorder, and, instead of rejecting him, she cares for him.
Clinging to my tablet as I read, this has to be one of the best books I've read in a long time. I enjoyed every word I read, and you will too. E.V Fairfall is an awesome author.
I was sent an E-Book of Sleeping Tom from the Author E. V. Fairfall and as soon As I received the email with the book I started reading and didn't put it down until I was done!
Sleeping Tom is about a girl named Rebecca who later changes her name to Caden. She meets a guy named Gabriel while hitchhiking. During the day he acts one way but at night after he goes to bed he wakes up as a totally different person, Tom. Caden tries to figure him out and along the way makes a couple of friends and learns that somethings take time to get back to normal.
This book was very unique, I have never read anything like it before and really enjoyed it. It had a little mystery in it. It also showed different family relationships and how they are not all perfect even if they seem to be. The love interest in this book was played out really well and didn't take up the whole story. Yes you find yourself rooting for a specific couple but it's not the main focus of the book. I can't wait for the next book!

This story had me sucked in from the start. I sympathized with Caden's situation and understood her desperation and ultimately her reason for hitchhiking. (Crazy girl!! lol) But I love how her depression and desperation turn to love and selflessness when she meets Tom, and eventually
The change from day to night was fascinating to me. The difference between the two personalities was colossal! Gabriel-grumpy-pants vs. Tom-big-boy-pants. I loved how Caden had to suffer through a few of Tom's childish games on account of her grown-up hormones. He was Gabriel, had Gabriel's body, but wasn't Gabriel!! Ugh. I felt for her.
I loved Tom. He was what Gabriel was missing from himself. The sweet, innocent, oblivious Tom.
Such an entertaining read and hard to put down! I highly recommend!

Thank you E.V. Fairfall for the opportunity to read this book. This was a strange NA read. I thought the story was good, but didn't grip me as much as other books have. The characters were okay as well. Caden was an okay character. I thought she might have multiple personalities while reading this book. Also, I did feel bad for her in the beginning because . Tom was just a childish character. Gabriel was mysterious, but he was also a jerk. I felt the romance lacked a lot. Mostly because . I think the ending was the best part. Though, it ended in a cliffhanger. It was definitely the most interesting part of the story. I will definitely read the second book to find out what happened to Gabriel.
The two main characters both have some emotional issues going on that have hindered their lives. Rebecca/Caden is at a point where she is finding herself, and she's using a name change to do it.
Gabriel and Tom are opposite ends of the spectrum packed into one person. Both personas are drawn to Caden for different reasons, and Caden is drawn to both of them right back. I love a story with a good psychological aspect to it. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series, as Sleeping Tom left me hanging!!
Sleeping Tom by E.V. Fairfall was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
I loved this so much! I found Caden so relatable, and I loved how the characters were dealing with things that seem dramatic, but really so many teenagers go through them. Unhealthy relationships, neglectful parents, identity issues, and so on, and I love that E.V. didn't try to minimize the impact of those problems, or cast them as "boy problems" or "rebellious phase" cliches. It was very real and genuine, and I appreciate that portrayal so much. Not to mention the story itself was unpredictable and intriguing. I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to finish this book, because I was so hooked. I was even ignoring text messages from my husband while reading it lol. I honestly can't wait for Waking Gabriel!
Sleeping Tom is an amazing read, I was captivated from the start of the book. I usually read paranormal or fantasy books so this book seemed very real to me, but in a very good way. I could definitely relate to the struggles the characters went through. I thought it was a very interesting concept to explore a character who had multiple personalities, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait for the sequel, or any more new books from this author. EV Fairfall does a great job of creating suspense and finding romance in unexpected places. I received this book as an ARC
As unpredictable as its characters, Sleeping Tom is a unique and compelling story that had me chasing the rabbit down the hole instantly (and up until sunrise). I love books that expand your mind and have you thinking What would I do? Sleeping Tom delivers on both fronts. If you liked Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher, be sure you don't miss out on this complex tale.
This was an incredible story. The characters are believable and the book is filled with many of the horrible things that can happen to screw up our children. I loved the characters of Tom/Gabriel who must have had a traumatic childhood and Rebecca/Caden who's parents did a number on. This is one story that just seemed to flow seamlessly.
