Geoffrey Boycott OBE is a former Yorkshire and England cricketer. In a prolific and sometimes controversial playing career from 1962 to 1986, Boycott established himself as one of England's most successful opening batsmen. Since retiring as a player, Boycott has found further success as a cricket commentator.
Interesting account of the tour to Australia through the eyes of Boycott. There is a more moderate tone in this book, and more of Boycott's cricket knowledge and intelligence comes through, rather than his occasionally boorish side.
Cricket was a different sport, when I was growing up. It was not slam bang...ala IPL and T20. It was a test of character to survive against challenges...persevere, it was about beauty of the bat vs ball in a poetic manner. The book reminds you of glorious days of cricket...when test cricket was at its peak. On the face of it, it is a coverage of a series from Boycotts point of view as an opening batsmen. However the true beauty of the book is reading about a game, which used to be poetry in its own way
