When runaway Alberto Garcia breaks into the abandoned home, after being kicked out by his parents for being gay, he doesn't expect anyone to come home early. Certainly, not a ruggedly handsome older cowboy.
Jake Sr., or Big Daddy as his friends and lovers call him, thinks he'll never love again after the heart ache of his past. Then, he meets Alberto.
Neither man expects to become close friends fast. Neither man expects that their age difference will bond them. And neither man expects to fall in love.
But there's a secret Alberto is hiding from the older man. Big Daddy is his best friend's dad.
* This short novel is part of the I Got You series, and can be read as a standalone as well. Contains hot steamy m/m sex. This book a 32,000-word novella.
Jamie Lake is the author m/m gay romances such as The Trainer, Boyfriend for Rent, Marked for Love, Bad Boy: Naughty at Night, Stay Always and many others.
Not really sure how to rate this so I won't. I won't read it again but I did finish it. I started to really like this book and then Sickness, religion, and immaturity came into play. Oh and when they made up did they talk about ANYTHING?! Nope, the just said "I miss you" and yep...fixed!!!! Never again...
Loved, loved this story. It was emotional, poignant, heartbreaking and wonderful. It was great to get a different take on Jake's father and see this human side of him. Alberto is adorable. Great job, Jeff!
I have to say I enjoyed reading this book.. I love this series all together. I started this book at 8am this morning and had it read by 3pm its a real page turner. I love Alberto and BD..I thought what BD did was wrong but in the end he paid for it.. I was happy with the end.. If you haven't read this series you should get on it it's an amazing series
I should have listened to my gut and tapped out after the first book I listened to by these authors and narrator:
This is my second book by these authors and this narrator. This is a two-fold review....
One: The narrator did a better job on this one, but the editing was still sloppy. Too many repeated lines. But at least this time, there wasn't any coughing. That being said, I felt like the narrator was attempting to do something outside the scope of his range. It felt like he was over reaching and parts just fell flat.
Two: The story line had so much potential, but it was boring in parts. I skipped some, but the overall reason I'm giving this a 1 star is because as I listened, I heard something that really shook me. Big Daddy has HIV and instead of telling Alberto, he just threw on protection and got busy. Yeah, that is just wrong!

It’s not often I read books about homosexual relationships but for the most part they are pretty good. And this book is no different. I loved how flirtatious Alberto is. And BD was from jump your typical leering guy. He was checking Al error before he even knew his name. This definitely a faced paced romance but not too unrealistic as the timeline is still there.
I do wish we got see BD and Alberto come out to Jake as a couple though. And also find out if BD had AIDS or not. But all in all good read.
Not for me. Narrator made Big Daddy sound too old so it felt like he was taking advantage of a kid and not even being honest upfront about something that could put his life in danger. Not much romance but lots of hot sex. Tried to tackle deep subjects too briefly like religion, acceptance, health issues, homelessness etc.
Superficial although the storyline is curious. But the story itself just did not develop. Characters were not believable and the way their relationship developed just didn't make sense.
I really liked these characters and the sex scenes were hot but omg it was so SO SOOO cheesy half the time! A lot of the sex dialogue came off feeling like it was from a low budget porno made in the 70s, I found myself cringing a lot. There were also quite a few plot holes or just stuff that was mentioned but nothing came of it. I guess maybe I forgot about the writing style or something since reading I Got You but this felt like a totally different author aside from the Disney underdog scene in the church which was just like the speech scene at the dance in Jake's book.
I still gave this book three stars because I did really want Alberto and Jake Sr's story and I'm thankful for the author delivering it and the sex was hot, aside from the dialogue. The ending of this book is like UBER depressing if you've read Jake's story because you know what happens later on that night and omg I almost cried thinking about it! It does end up as a HEA but not for months and months after the end of this book.
Jeff Riveria has really out done himself this time. This book was so intense and emotional, but so, so.....I can't even adequately describe how much I really loved this book. Through every twist and turn with this couple it all felt so real. I felt their pain, their frustration, their tears, and their love for each other. At times, yes I was angry at them because they were being so stubborn and hard headed; must be one of the reasons the two are perfect for each other. But, I will say that I hope this isn't the last of Alberto and B.D., because their story can't end just yet. There are still some questions left unanswered and quit honestly I'm not yet ready to say goodbye to these two. Please keep continuing to write, Jeff. The stories you come up with are so amazing and the characters so real it's a wonder they don't just pop write off the page. Thank you for being the amazing writer that you are.
I've been looking forward to this book since we met Alberto and B.D. in I Got You. I wanted their story so much. I needed to know how they met and became a couple.
I'm a fan of older/younger relationships in MM novels. Alberto and B.D. were really sexy together. Alberto really knew how to push B.D.'s buttons and B.D. didn't let him get away with it. I liked how they easily fell into their relationship. Their comfort level was nice. I just wish they would have been able to open up to each other better.
Keeping secrets is toxic to a relationship and theirs certainly suffered. I got so mad at them, mostly B.D., I wanted to reach into my Kindle and smack both of them. I hated that they hurt each other.
I really fell for Alberto in this book. He grew so much in this book and really came into his own. I was proud of him and found myself cheering for him.
I can't wait for the next installment of this series. I'm hooked.
„Call Me Big Daddy” is third book in „I Got You” series. This time storyline focuses on Alberto and Jake Sr. They met under extraordinary circumstances. Alberto is on the go after his parent threw him out, because of his homosexuality. B.D. catches him tying to sneak out from his home, but he lets him stay.
There was so much sexual tension and so much love between the characters. They relationship develops quickly, but secrets they both hiding put that all to jeopardy.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was engaging and I couldn’t put it down and I loved every plot twist. I need more ASAP! Recommended.
The beginning of this story had me rolling my eyes so much I got a headache. As I kept reading and Angelo and Jake's relationship became stronger I started to enjoy this story. It was sexy and loving. You can't help but feel bad for Jake/ BD on all counts especially with his relationship with his son. He really needs to be more open and honest with who he is. Obviously Jake Jr. would understand and then they could really have a relationship with no more secrets. It would be even better because the both love Angelo, in different ways of course but they both want him happy
There are two types of mm books. The silly kind that you take with a grain of salt as a guilty pleasure, and the kind with real issues and real situations. This one qualifies as the guilty pleasure kind, so the HIV element just turned me off completely. Because in the real world and even in a real story with real situations not telling someone you have HIV and still sleeping with them would be incredibly irresponsible and reprehensible. And every time I got angry about it I'd have to stop and say its one of those silly stories. I guess my point is, you have to really commit to dealing with a serious issue if you introduce it, or just don't include them.

Read book 5 (a prequel featuring Big Daddy). Liked it well enough to try this again. This is set maybe 15 years later. I didn't like all the secrets, particularly the one BD keeps from Alberto. He has HIV, but we're not sure how he got it, and we know the other man is no longer in the picture. Was it the MC from book 5? And what happened to their HEA? Too many unanswered questions. I also want to know how the events of book one fit into this book. Or, does this come first chronologically?
DNF Characters seemed too different than when they first appeared in book one. Also, a bit cheesy

After reading the first two books, this one is so confusing. In book one Alberto and Jake's dad had finally revealed that they had been dating. There was nothing ever mentioned that his dad was sick. He dad lived with his sister and was always on the road. This book he lived alone and didn't deal with his kids and it does not even mention that he is his stepdad not biological and he adopted him and his sister. The book was okay but it didn't follow the other book as far as story line goes.
Loved this long awaited love story between Jake Snr and Alberto. From the unconventional way these two came together to the hot, steamy and passionate affair that ensued their love is a emotional roller coaster that kept me captivated from start to finish. Jeff has done it again with another great instalment to this series! Can't wait to read what's next!!
Okay the reason why I only have this book 2 stars was because I felt the ending was horrible. To me it ended without anything getting solved. Are they together, are they not? How did the best friend feel about their relationship if they are together or did they keep it a secret. Are some of the things that I would have liked to know. Other than that it was a decent book.
Seeing and feeling how love can grow for anyone is special and rare. Thank you so much for sharing your talent, your love of people, and showing that everyone deserves and needs love in their lives !!!
I like all of Jamie Lake's, and Jeff Rivera's books. This story tore at my heart. Two lonely people just looking for love. What a wonderful story, I loved the characters; and the story was great. Jamie Lake, and Jeff Rivera two great writers who makes their characters so well developed.
This was OK. A story of a younger and older man. Both are keeping secrets from the other, but one of their secrets may have serious implications for the other.
I've been waiting for this book to see how Jake Sr & Alberto got together to get their POV's. I liked it & it was a good read. Looking forward to next book in series.
