Damsels in distress seem to always find Doug Renaud. He doesn’t mind being their knight in shining armor, but there are limits to what he can do. When he visits a patient in a psychiatric hospital, he knows there's a chance his life is going to get an extra dose of drama. He just didn't know that drama included meeting the woman of his dreams working as a nurse at the hospital. Not that simply finding her means everything will fall into place in Doug’s love life.

There’s not a day that goes by that Lizzie Ellens isn’t looking over her shoulder. After escaping an abusive husband, she and her two-year-old son have jumped around from city to city, trying to keep a step ahead of him. When Doug walks into her life, she knows he’s trouble, but it’s hard to deny the connection she instantly feels. As intriguing as starting a new life with him sounds, her past means taking a chance on a famous hockey player isn’t in any of her playbooks.

Will Doug and Lizzie be able to work around her fears? Or will Lizzie's past show up to put everyone they know in danger

I have always had a passion for the written word. Along with that, I've always had ideas for stories swimming around in my head. It finally got to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore and had to start getting my thoughts down on paper. There are still too many ideas, but I am working to get them out as fast as I can. My hope is that one day my brain will be mine again.

Other hobbies of mine include: drawing, baking, arts and crafts, motorcycles, hockey and archery. I like to think I have eclectic tastes where my hobbies are concerned. I love to laugh and try to make myself smile at least once a day. With the crazy thoughts going on in my head that usually isn't hard.

DNF. This is not for me. The story felt odd and weird.

Hero is going to help some woman (not the heroine) get out of a mental institute after she tried to hurt another person. The hero and this woman are not even friends.

The male POV (Doug) sounded feminine and he is supposed to be this great hockey player!!! The woman Doug wants to help get released is a sister of teammate who he had not spoken to in 3 years. The hero was going to help this Steph get out of a mental institute after (I think) she tried to kill someone. Doug even thought Steph was crazy but because she wrote him a "nice" letter, he went to see her in the mental institute and was going to help her get out?!?!? Steph is not the heroine. Elizabeth is the heroine who works at the mental institute.

There is also too much mention of cologne. (loc 188, 207, 262). I quit reading the book so there could have been more mention of cologne, I am not sure. The constant mention of cologne made my head hurt.

The verbiage and actions of the characters felt weird and creepy.

This is my opinion. You may love this book. Reading is subjective. This did not work for me.
