This is a good first book by a first time author. I have some close associations with the Jackson Symphony and have met some of these characters, as they are loosely based on the characters that people the symphony building. The book drew me in immediately with a vivid description of Mahler's second symphony. It drags some in the middle but then gathers intensity as it begins to wrap up with its conclusion and denouement . I gasped to find out "whodunnit" and am glad to know that there will be a sequel.
