I was really loving this one up until I reached the end. Unfortunately, the ending felt way too rushed and didn't make much sense in terms of the way the book was heading initially. I'll still check out & read more by this author since I did like the rest of the book.
As a girl, Callie thought of the world as a magical place, especially Slocum Wood, but she wanted to know whether there were other places in the world like it, or whether it was just her home that was unique – and that is the reason she left - but now she has returned. Everyone in town knew who Jake and Bobby were to Callie, and she to them, but Callie never spoke openly of what they had shared growing up. Their feelings for her and hers for them had been a common denominator around them all their lives, deepening their bonds – her two bears – her lovers to whom she always returned. Now their father, Curt, is dying, Bobby is spending more time sitting in vigil at his bedside or in Elders Cave; the First Ones are calling for Curt, the King Bear, it is his time. The Canids want control of the cave and kidnap and threaten Callie and Bobby. The fighting between the werebears and werewolves continues until the First Ones command them to stop. When the battle ceases, recognition dawns on them and everyone is humbled. The First Ones have a message for them, and now that they have spoken it was time to move forward. This was an excellent story which I enjoyed reading and would have no hesitation in recommending it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love shape-shifter romance and Her Twin Bears by Amy Star truly fit the bill. It is also a story about a person being different, and understanding the differences not being wrong. OK, enough of the morality section of this review. I loved the relationship of these three people, and how it began as friendships, then attraction, then full fledged love. I am not going to rehash the blurb of the book, you already know what it is about, or you would not be reading the reviews. I will say that this is a wonderful story, wonderfully written, and very in depth considering it is a novella. I was gifted with an audio copy of this book from the performer Meghan Kelly for my honest opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute listening to this book. Ms. Kelly performed the book in a way that took you into the story as much as the story did itself. This book totally did what I want a good book to do, take me away from my life for a few hours. I look forward to reading and/or listening to more from Ms. Star and Ms. Kelly in the future. Thank you for reading my review. If you love a great shifter romance story, this one is for you.
Callie is one lucky woman to be loved by two hunky bear brothers. How she can believe in bear shifters but not the First Ones is just another interesting piece to her mix of part scientist and part supernatural believer. Even with her interesting character I still can't believe that she could leave her lovers for more than a few days at a time or take other lovers who would never compare to them.
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I enjoyed this short story. Amy Star put suspense, thrill, and romance in a short story. It was not a deep story, but enjoyable. The characters were well developed. I was wondering how she was going to end the story with a three-way relationship. I thought it was a complete story. Overall, it was an enjoyable listen. After all, that is what fantasy is all about.
Unfortunately this book wasnt my favorite, which says alot considering every book I read ends up being my new favorite. I was bored, it was slow to pick up and most of the begining was describing sex between teenagers and then sex between the same people just as adults, the problem with this were there overly flowery words "roots of a tree of manhood", "lady-fruit", "foreskinned pipe of maleness", "joy handle", etc. It's just too much, and not sexy at all IMO. The other thing was the ending, I won't spoil it but the synopsis and the ending don't track. I'm extremely disappointed and feel like it should have continued on.
This author took time to create descriptions of body parts and intercourse that are more cringe worthy than using slang. I got to about 25% and I just couldn't take it anymore. The premise of the book looked so exciting but her writing just couldn't bring the story to fruition.
The relationship between the three main characters just didn't work for me. One second they're like best friends who keep in touch and then they're practically strangers who don't know anything about each other. I just didn't like this one.
This seems like a start to this storyline, not sure if there is more to come from these characters but I definitely want it!! It’s a hot relationship that I feel hasn’t finished. Great performance from Meghan
2.5* Ok! I liked some of the story but was not a big fan of the sexy scenes, the descriptions and dialogue just wasn't my cup of tea. I think the narrator did a good job telling it!
Oh my! Now, this book definitely had a different twist. This author certainly has a unique imagination mixed with the ability to spin a vivid tale from it that will leave you questioning everything you know. A unique telling, this book relates the story of Callie, as she returns to her home town after completing her schooling, as well as travelling the world in search of answers to the scientific unknown, and her homecoming to the two men she loves, twin bear shifters, Jake and Bobby. Even though the two men are identical twins, their beliefs vary, even though they share many similar ones, but one thing they both believe in equally, is their love for the human woman they grew up with, Callie. Definitely worth the read. Even though it is a happy ever after, I’m not sure if I like the ending. I won’t spoil it, but it is totally not what I was expecting.
Callie is coming back home, she has missed her men. She hoped coming back home she would get to be with them again. She knows there is more to the world than just humans.
Jake and bobby have been in love with Callie since they were kids.
For me it a friends to lovers story, of how they come to terms with wanting to be with each other even after all the time.
Being Bear shifters there father is dying. There clan protect the Elders Cave but The Canids want control of the cave, so they kidnap Callie in hope to take control.
It’s a story of hope and loose, love and wants. I enjoyed this book and the dynamics between these 3 defiantly worth taking the chance.
This was the story of Callie, Jake, and Bobby, who have known each other since childhood. I thought that Star had a very interesting way of describing her sex scenes. They included a lot of euphemisms for body parts and sexual acts (except fellatio, which is identified as just that at one point). Honestly, not a ton outside of sex happens before the last chapter (where this is a tiny bit of not very explicit violence). This was a HEA book without a cliffhanger. Overall, I thought it was interesting (though I'm still not sure whether or not that's in a good or bad way).
I felt like this book was too wordy and descriptive. It lost my attention with the inner dialogue that I found myself just waiting for the conversation to move on.
I was disappointed in the ending but the story itself had great promise. I love shifter books but this one was built up for the drama that is common in shifter stories but then just ended. I could have used more battle and not such a quick fix.
I enjoyed reading the love that has built over the years between two identical twins and one very special girl. The story goes you you expect for a awhile and it keeps you turning the page because the chemistry between this trio comes right off the pages. But then the twist happens, and at the end unfortunately I was disappointed there wasn't more.
I read this book as part of the WereTwins bundle. I absolutely loved it!!! It is very well written and I enjoyed every word in it. Callie, Jake and Bobby has a wonderful relationship even after years of being apart. The ending threw a curve at me that I didn't expect but could understand from everything in the story. I will admit I did cry. For a book to move me to cry, it means that it is a great book. I can't wait to read more from this author.
This book was OK. If I’m being honest the free book that came with Her Bear Twins, Running with the Bear is a much better story. The story line was very good as were the characters. Her bear twins I would give 3-4 stars, but I would give Running with the Bear 5 stars. As Running with the Bear is not the main story I am giving this combination 4 stars.
Kindle Unlimited standalone book. Wasn't happy with the ending. Book had potential but just missed the mark. Only got 2 stars because of the hot scenes.
I really need to remember this authors name so that I never ever subject myself to this torture again. I got passed the super flowery sex scenes bexause they were fun in cheesy way. But the end sucked and overall it felt like a high school girl wrote it.
Good story. Last paced. Spelling errors, typos detracted from story. This was a free book with a bonus. The first book needed editing and even got a character name wrong. Read this author often. Stories unique. 3 for errors.
It was ok, however I dont feel the blurb really describe the book the best as there was no marriage complication about who would be leader, only the love of the woman by twins. I did enjoy the ending of only one brother in the end except it left me feeling flat
