Everyone is busy making gifts for their loved ones. Eva LOVES crafting, so she creates all sorts of fun gifts and treats for her friends. She is excited to give out her homemade gifts at the big party at the Old Oak Tree. But then Eva realizes she forgot to make gifts for her family! Will she be able to make the gifts in time?

A series offered by Scholastic's Branches imprint of early chapter books. Lots of visual support for the text, making it perfect for emergent readers and children transitioning from picture books into chapter books. The diary format produces text in a conversational style, further enhanced through the abundant use of speech bubbles. The protagonist, Eva, is a likable, creative problem-solver who likes to involve and support her friends. Each volume contains comprehension questions at the back of the book.
In this fifth title of the series, Eva celebrates a special Treetopolis holiday with her family and friends. This fictional holiday is sort of a cross between Christmas and Founder's Day. The fairy thing seems weird when juxtaposed on the owl theme of this series, but then kids of this age love anything to do with fairies. Every book in this series is sweet, but Eva's generous, giving nature really shines in this one.
Eva is a very lovable character! In this story, her village is getting ready to celebrate a holiday called Warm Hearts Day. She was so busy helping her friends and being caring to the creatures in her village, that she forgot to make some important presents. Her loved ones understood, though, and saw the creativity, compassion and generosity of the little owl, and felt proud of her. I am loving the Owl Diaries series!
This series is super popular at my library, so I wanted to pick one up. Umm... I guess I get the appeal - it's like a silly Saturday morning cartoon in book form. It has colorful illustrations and it seems like kids go gaga over anything written in a journal format these days. I personally found the owl puns grating and over-saccharine.
I get why kids might like it, but it's not for me.
In this formula-fiction early chapter book, the Owl Diary cast of characters, led by Eva Wingdale, returns to share a new story of kindness in Treetopolis. In this 5th book in the Owl Diary series, the owlets are preparing for their annual Warm Hearts Day celebration. With the series’ characteristic mix of text in a diary format, graphics and speech bubbles, this book shares Eva’s journey toward understanding the true purpose of celebrations beyond the giving and receiving of gifts. The book is full of the humorous plays on words and owl references readers of this series have come to enjoy. For example, there is a fairy owl named “Twinklewings,” and Eva knits “wing-warmers” for her family members. This is a great book for use in grades 1-3. Those students just transitioning to chapter books will benefit from the small amounts of text on each page, interspersed with colorful, comprehension supporting illustrations and entertaining speech bubbles. Like with other formulaic early chapter books, once students are familiar with the characters and setting of one Owl Diaries book, they will be enabled to read the rest of the series with greater fluency and comprehension. This book would make a great read aloud near a holiday such as Christmas or Valentine’s Day to help students focus on sentiment rather than gifts, candy or cards.
Eva loves Warm Hearts Day. She made a pretty garland for the party at the old oak tree. She made cookies and she made wing warmers. But she was too busy to make presents for her family and that was really bad. The might before hearts warming day, she was looking for presents, but then she ran into different animals and she gave everything she had with her to them. When it was finally hearts warming day she didn't have presents but she had a costu.e for the song and her family loved the costume.
My favorite was really all of it!

Love this series! This book introduces a nice imaginary holiday that lets Eva experience giving gifts and sharing time with family - minus any religious implications or anything. It's a sweet way to include everyone!
I loved this story. I always enjoy helping others myself, so it is wonderful to read about Eva helping out others. I feel that Eva helping the other animals helped to return the holiday spirit to her heart in the end.
I can't believe that Eva forgot to give her own family presents. If I was having warm hearts day the first present I would think about to make is the ones for my family. Edit: I just reread this review and for the next holiday I'm going to make cool things for my parents.
Owl Diaries Warm Hearts Day is the fifth book in the Owl Diaries series, and it follows Eva as she prepares for her favorite holiday, Warm Hearts Day. The story takes place in Tree Top Forest, where animals of all kinds live together in harmony. Warm Hearts Day is a special day when everyone exchanges gifts and shows kindness to one another.
The story is centered around Eva and her excitement for Warm Hearts Day. She spends a lot of time preparing gifts for her classmates and decorating her gift bags. However, she soon realizes that she has forgotten to make gifts for her family. Eva is upset and panics, but with the help of her friends, she comes up with a solution to make gifts for her family in time for the holiday.
Throughout the book, Eva meets several animals who need her help. She assists a lost horse in finding its way back home, lends her decorations to a group of sheep who are struggling to prepare for the holiday, and makes wind warmers for a Beaver family to keep them warm during the cold winter.
The book has a heartwarming message about the importance of kindness and helping others. The animals in the story used to be enemies, but they learned to work together and became friends. Eva also learns that it's not just about giving gifts to her classmates but also to her family and those who are in need. The book encourages readers to be kind and helpful to others, just as Eva is throughout the story.
The illustrations in the book are adorable, and the writing is easy to follow and understand. The author, Rebecca Elliott, does a great job of incorporating important themes into a fun and engaging story for young readers. Overall, Owl Diaries: Warm Hearts Day is a lovely addition to the series, and it's a great choice for children who love animals and stories about kindness and friendship.

I've got so much to say about this book. Watch my full review on my YouTube channel to hear all my thoughts. https://youtu.be/lCeAonK40jE
{My thoughts} – Celebrations happen everywhere and it’s always nice to learn about new celebrations and traditions. In Eva’s town they have a celebration called Warm Hearts Day. This celebration is to help remind all the animals about a Fairy that had taught them all to be loving and true to themselves in order to help others.
Eva goes out in search of special gifts for her family and unintentionally reminds animals of the Forrest what the true meaning of Warm Hearts Day is.
I really like the lesson in this book. It’s about helping others and being kind, it’s about giving without the expectation of receiving. All to often children think they should get and shouldn’t give anything. This book helps to show that those that give have the potential to brighten up someone’s day.
When you think about it, it’s the little things that make the biggest differences. Eva does little things throughout gherkin book but in the end all those little things make a big difference to the animals of the Forrest.
I really enjoy these books. They have bright illustrations, Sine stories and easy to understand lessons. Also at the red of each book there are discussion questions that can be used to further discuss the understanding of the book.
This installment was adorable! Our characters are celebrating a winter holiday where they learn that gift-giving isn't everything. It has a cute message and it's something that will appeal to readers of many backgrounds. I especially enjoyed getting to see other animals in Eva's world that aren't just pets. The book also follows a picture book format a little more, with the events in threes.
For: fans of owls; readers wanting a diary format and fun illustrations; readers looking for a holiday book that isn't about a specific holiday (there's a made up holiday that's sort of like Christmas).
Possible red flags: angst; mentions of other animals that are less fortunate.
Eva liked a lot of things, She was too busy because she was making a lot of cart decorations and cookies for her friends because it was warm hearts day. when he was making the gifts she remembered that she did not have presents for her family. when she left to look for some presents she see a sheep family then a beaver family and then a bear family. she wants to help him so she gives her decorations cookies and more to the animals. In the end, the animals that Eva helps bring presents for everyone, and then everybody celebrates Eva.
It was warm hearts day in Treetopolis. Eva and her Classmates are singing the warm hearts day song. Also Eva and her friends are making present for the classmates. Eva made cookies, warm gloves, and garlands for herself and her classmate. But in warm hearts day eve, Eva thought that she forgot the presents for her family. She woke up early and she find she tries to find a present but she found the poor animals Who don’t have any special thing to celebrate the warm hurts day. Eva you a present to the poor animals bird Eva doesn’t have the present for family and her classmates anymore.

My favorite thing was the warm hearts day because that was the most fun part. And I had one more favorite thing: it was Eva helping the beavers, bears and sheep. She gave all the decorations to the sheep. One of the little beavers was cold so Eva shared her hat with them. She gave the bag decorations to the sheep.
I learnt that when we share it is very good. It is a very nice book.
This book tells about owls, their lives, two places in the book show the theme. The first one talks about them every morning, children go to school, adults go to work, the elderly can enjoy life, to rest day, they can go out to play, the second one talks about their holidays, visit each other, help each other.
I thought that Warm Hearts Day was going to be a Valentines book, but instead, it is a made up holiday that the owls celebrate. There is a very cute background story to the origins of Warm Hearts Day and a very sweet message about being helpful and charitable towards others. Great book! My niece loves this series. It is easy to read for children who are just starting to read chapter books.
I liked the book. Eva and her classmates were going to sing a song about warm hearts day but when Eva made feather warmers she was nice and gave them to bears that needed them, Eva also gave warm hearts day decorations to sheep that did not have the warm hearts day spirit, and gave cookies to other bears that needed food.
We love this series in Spanish it's sooo fun for the kids and I to read. The illustrations are fantastic and we super appreciate the Spanish translation, very well done with the play on words, character names and all. We love the diary format, my kids noticed it always starts on Sunday and goes through the week.
This one was really cute and one of Clara’s favorites so far! One of the things she loves about these books are the “thinking questions” at the end of the book. If she can’t remember the answers then we go back into the text to find them :). This is a great strategy to learn and practice as a reader.
My favorite part is when Eva helped the animals. Even though the gifts were for her friends, helping is better. The animals needed help. The bears had nothing to eat, the beavers were very very cold. And my other favorite part is when they threw Eva up in the air, like when my dad throws me up in the air. (Alon, 7)

Another pleasant installment of the Owl Diaries series. Warm Hearts Day is a big celebration in the owl community, and apparently with the other animals of the forest as well. I really like Eva's character in these books and how she is always looking out for others. The art and formatting is fun, too.
Warm Hearts Day is the time to celebrate kindness and love by making cards, giving gifts, and sharing delicious treats. Holidays in the woods of Treetopolis are just as sweet as everything else. Such great messages in these books. Makes my heart warm!!
I liked this story because it was about giving to others, and thats a good deed. Also, friends had to get together and sing songs. They gave cookies, chocolate, cards, and presents to their classmates.
