Before getting reacquainted with my old friend Jasmine, and becoming Mrs. Howard, I had quite the story to tell. I, Britney aka Neya, am living a pretty grand life now, but it wasn’t always full of glitz and glam. The life I lead now, thanks to my dear husband Hasaan, came with a price, and he graciously paid it.
In youth, I struggled with the daily demands of being a beautiful black woman of a larger stature. It wasn’t until Hasaan came along that I started to understand the true beauty I held inside and out. His dire need to replace my self-doubt with self-confidence left me feeling forever indebted to him.
Being a firm believer in loyalty, I transformed into the ultimate ride or die. These beliefs stemmed from my depleted background of nearly nothing. Where I’m from, your word was all you had, so when it comes to loyalty… I know no boundaries. Because of my unwavering loyalties, I’m beginning to understand exactly why The Howards’ should be mentioned amongst the ‘The Carters’ and 'The Mackies’.
My grit of a love story is a spin-off from P. S. I’ll Still Be Loving You. On the upside, you’re already aware of how 'The Howards’ made out in the end. This is only the beginning…
After reading the first book two books I had to come back and finish the series. I didn't really think I would be that interested to read Neya's story because I was so in love with Jasmine's character but Neya's life story was really good and I love her and Hasaan's love just as much. Neya, was a BBW who grew up with a hateful Mom named Charlene that hated herself so she picked on Neya for fun and made Neya her slave. Neya cooked, cleaned, and used the money from her part time job at the greasy joint Charlie's to pay the majority her Charlene's bills. Needless to say Neya didn't have much money leftover to be fly. Hasaan, the biggest dope boy in her city, could see past her Shabby clothes, and despite having a bad chick on his arm, wanted to know more about Ms. Neya.....and so their love story began. This story is relatable and I love how the characters flowed.....looking forward to reading more of this series in the future. Great job again Ms. Hill.
Very good read. Poor Neya couldn't catch a break but she didn't let that get her down. I love her and Hasaan together. I can't wait for him to come home and give her the life she deserves.
