Celine Rose Cristobal Gaño, who has been a Financial Journalist for more than 6 years now, has been stringing words together since childhood to create compelling stories.
At age 9, she started writing short stories in an old notebook given by her mom. But it wasn’t until in her early- to mid-20s that she was able to confirm her love for storytelling. She’d read action-packed novels by John Grisham, Dan Brown, and home-grown talent Ricky Lee and philosophical stories by Paulo Coelho. Authors, who she said, greatly influenced her and her writing process. She would also watch short films by Asian-American producer Wong Fu Productions. But here’s a secret: she admits she enjoys watching the behind-the-scenes footages more because she gets to see the process of how the story was created and be able to break down the story into scenes to learn the techniques in writing it.
In 2014, she joined The Film Gym, the film school of the Film Academy of the Philippines, and received training under the tutelage of Director Surf Reyes, co-founder of the Mowelfund Film Institute. A decision, which she claims to have helped her a lot in becoming visual in writing her book.
A graduate of Management of Financial Institutions at De La Salle University – Manila with a great love for weaving words and sharing relevant information to people, she currently works as a Financial Journalist at MT Newswires, an American media company.
"Querna Dose," which translates to "Prison Cell Number 12," is her very first novella. But she vows this won’t be her last.
So far, Querna Dose is one of the best Filipino novels I have read. Once you start reading it, you'll never want to stop because you will always be intrigued with the roles each character will play in Father Art's life.
