But how deep is she in the operation and can she help Colt escape?

After the devastating attack on Canadian soil, Brenna is recruited to go undercover to find out what Nazer is planning next. She’s close to her goal until her former flame Colt Mitchell is taken hostage. With their hearts and their lives on the line can they survive long enough to stop Nazer from ravaging another country’s sense of security?

After reading every Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and Hardy Boys book her elementary school library had, Julie Coulter Bellon knew from a young age she wanted to write books and be a published author someday. That dream came true and she is now the author of thirty romantic suspense novels and two children's books. One nightmare that also came true was that she once tripped up the stairs going on stage to accept a book award and she thinks about that moment more often than she should.

Julie loves to travel and her favorite cities she's visited so far are probably Athens, Paris, Ottawa, and London. She is a former journalist and podcast host of Authors Off the Page. This story immediately starts out with heart-pounding excitement and suspense. Brenna is deep undercover in a terrorist compound, trying to discover what attack plans are in the works. Colt is captured and taken hostage and ends up reuniting with Brenna again--in a most unconventional way. They have a history together and she broke his heart, but to escape this nightmare, they must learn to trust each other again.

I love the way Ms. Bellon writes such great characters and situations. I feel that I'm a fly on the wall, watching everything unfold, and it almost stresses me out. I become so involved in the book and can't figure out how these characters will possibly resolve their dilemmas. Either they're smarter than me or used to working under pressure, but somehow, twists and turns happen to take things in a new direction and many times, it's because of the way they formulate new plans and execute things in surprising ways.

I really enjoyed Colt and Brenna and they way they each have such quick thinking skills and reactions. Daring, brave, and committed, they're both great. This is a fast-paced and intense book that was over before I knew it and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I'm already waiting for more in this Griffin Force series.

Content: war type violence that isn't too graphic, including torture, prisoner abuse, etc; mild romance. I would consider this clean for a reader who is mature enough to handle the war stuff.

Intriguing story, but the characters left a bit to be desired and the romance wasn't my cup of tea. Overal, a semi-interesting read, but not a favorite.

Recommended for ages 16+ for violence and romance.

"The Captain" is book 2 of the new "Griffin Force" series by author Julie Bellon. First, I LOVE the cover of the book! It is so vibrant which caught my eye immediately. I read book 1 when it was released last year so I remembered how fantastic that story line was, so I was expecting this book to be just as good. I was not disappointed!

"The Captain" is about the Griffin Force characters from book 1, but mostly focuses on Brenna and Colt (who we met in book 1). Although the same characters are mentioned in both books, I feel like this book could be read as a stand alone since it has its own plot.

Of course, I recommend reading them all in order because the character developments and flow of the story lines will be more intense and dramatic.

I really liked how Brenna, Colt and the team work together. There is alot of action and drama-very steady and intense. There is mention of prisoner torture and methods, so I would not recommend this series to young adults. However, I do let my 14 year old read books by this author since I know all of her books are clean and free of bad language and he is a mature reader.

I can't say enough good things about this series and I can't wait to read book 3 when it's released later this year. This is definitely a series I'll be keeping on my bookshelf to read again and again!

**Clean, suspenseful, action packed fiction**

I always feel like such a lucky girl to be able to read and review for Julie Bellon. Her books are so good- full of military suspense and action but not in an overly graphic way. I love the bit of romance that weaves it's way through the story. It's never the center stage but in this case, it was the driving force behind the way the events unfolded.

Colt and Brenna have a history. They knew each other intimately before but went their separate ways due to Brenna's choices. Imagine coming face to face with the person you loved when you are a hostage and she is undercover as a slave. Wild set up, that.

This book has awesome pacing- never a dull or droopy moment. I love that. I started the book dropped right into the very thick of things and it just never let up. I was completely engaged the whole time. It left me wondering at the end if that was a shorter book because it felt like it was over too fast. So good. I love this series!

Content: Clean romance, some violence (torture, death, injuries, drugging)

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Oh my word! I was intently listening to this one and felt like I was holding my breath during some of the scenes! Edge of my seat and nail biting moments! Wowsers!

Brenna is in deep undercover with Nazer al-Raimi, a terrorist. She's seen things that she wishes she could have avoided. But she's too close to Nazer and doesn't want to compromise anything. Until a new hostage is brought in. Colt. Her former boyfriend. Can she stand back and watch him be tortured? Or will she risk everything she's worked for and struggled through to rescue him?

Seriously, I was holding my breath as I listened to Brenna's situation. A slave in Nazer's home and working next to him. Eeeekkk!!! Could you imagine? She has nerves of steel, seriously! I kept cheering her on and then sometimes would be talking out loud to the book and telling her, "Don't Do It Girl!!!" Or I would yell, "Ruuuuunnnnn!!!"

I wondered what she was going to do in regard to Colt. I kept hoping she'd do the right thing but then she'd remember her mission, but then she'd remember Colt and their history. Another holding my breath moment. *grimace*

Let's just say that I was very happy with this book! It pulled me in, hooked me, kept me listening as quickly as I could and I loved it all! Even the narrator was wonderful! He's one I've listened to previously to listening to this series and I really enjoy the sound of his voice. He's great at bringing the emotions and characters of the story to life!

Content: Clean. Some talk of hostages and torture, being undercover, moments of peril, guns and bombs, hiding and terrorists. The author did a great job being sensitive to the topic and not overly graphic while still delivering a great read. But if you these triggers you, I wanted to make readers aware of the content. Some kisses but nothing further. No language either.

I listened through audible. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading/Listening!!!

This book starts off fast and doesn't let up the entire time. While on a mission to capture a terrorist leader, Captain Colt Mitchell is captured instead and taken away. Things don't look good for him at all. Brenna Wilson, the girl who broke his heart years ago, is now working undercover for the terrorist to find out what his plans are. They are surprised to see each other and Brenna knows she has to do whatever is necessary to get Colt out of there.

I love these kind of books! The characters would get out of a sticky situation to quickly find themselves in another one. Colt and Brenna still cared about each other but had some issues to work through. Their romance wasn't the main focus of this book but it was a great second chance love story.

Once again, Ms. Bellon delivers on the action, suspense, drama, romance and fantastic dialogue, and I couldn't read it fast enough! This book mostly focused on Colt and Brenna, but we got to see some of our favorites from the first book. It can be read as a stand alone, but The Captive is also fantastic, so you will want to read that one, too. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!

I received a copy from the author for an honest review. My opinion is 100% my own.

Non-Stop Action!

This timely romantic suspense takes place in Afghanistan and Europe. The Griffin Force, an elite special-ops military group has sworn to take out Nazer, a terrorist who is trying to make his name and be recognized by ISIS. He and his cohorts specialize in terror and torture of all Westerners, but they are particularly focused on revenge towards the Griffin Force.

Agents Brenna and Colt knew each other six years ago, and meet again under highly charged and dangerous circumstances. They cannot let their feelings for one another get in the way of stopping Nazer.

As we have come to expect from Coulter Bellon, this book is a non-stop ride. Warning: It will keep you up late! The plot could have been taken from today’s headlines. The author is well informed on all the culture of terror in the Middle East, and the story feels very real.

The romance between Brenna and Colt is a classic and fits well into the storyline. I am looking forward to reading the next novel about the Griffin Force!

Love or Duty

An undercover operative must decide whether to follow her heart or stick to the mission when her former lover is brought in as a captive by the very man she is their to gain intel on. If he doesn't blow her cover, she has to decide if she can stand by and watch him tortured. Julie has written an intelligent, fast paced clean romantic suspense that I thoroughly enjoyed reading free on Kindle Unlimited.

Colt and Brenna are part of the elite Griffin task force. When Colt is captured on a mission and taken to be questioned, he winds up at the house of terrorist Nazer's second in command: where Brenna has been undercover for months. Faced with blowing her cover or watching Colt die from torture, Brenna makes the only choice she feels that she can. What happens next is a fun, fast-paced, adventurous novel that kept me reading past my bedtime several nights in row.
This was my first novel by Bellon and I enjoyed the quick moving action as well as the fact that she didn't sacrifice character development for action. I felt like I got to know Colt and Brenna, and was teased by a few of the secondary characters as well. I also liked the fact that while Griffin Force worked hard to prevent terrorist attacks, not everything was magically solved and

This book was another great addition to this series. Like all of Julie's other books it is full of action and suspense with a tiny mix of romance. I have been a huge fan of these books and although I enjoyed reading it, I feel like they are getting repetitive and I am ready to see something new. I want to get that feeling of WOW that I felt after reading her first book. The characters are great and the story line flows really well and if you are a fan of the others I'm am sure you will enjoy this one too. It is fun to see them all get their own stories I just feel that all the books are all very much alike. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this kind of book this week...Like I said overall it was good I just wanted a wow factor and didn't get one, great job though Julie!

I really enjoyed this suspense novel. It continues with Colt Mitchell from the Captive. His being taken hostage and finding his ex-girl friend hurts and makes you hope for things to come. It isn't easy, as both have unresolvedfeeling about each other, and the to make things more difficult, at the same time their lives are in serious danger. Definitely a good read!

From the beginning I was on the edge of my seat. Julie Coulter Bellon has an incredible way of pulling you into that world, realistically detailing the gruesomeness and torture of terrorism, but doing it in a way that puts your focus more on the characters and their unique situations than on violent details. The chemistry between Colt and Brenna is magnetic, and watching how they both wrestle with their feelings for one another while dealing with one of the scariest situations anyone could possibly face is mesmerizing.

Well written with an abundance of action, suspense, and the perfect pace, I devoured this novel within hours. Sadly this is something that could actually happen, and most likely does happen, which ran through my mind the entire time I was reading.

A heart pounding read from start to finish that was exciting to devour and was over way too fast, I loved this book!

The Captain is one of those books that you don't want to start too late in the day because you will not want to put it down until you finish. Captain Colt Mitchell is taken hostage by a brutal terrorist, Nazer al-Raimi. Brenna, Colt's former girlfriend, is undercover in the household where he's taken to be tortured. I found the main characters likable and their feelings for each other genuine (as much as fictional characters can be.) The plot has twists and turns all the way through. It moves at a good pace--fast enough to keep interest high, but at a good speed to let the reader connect with the characters. The setting starts in Afghanistan and moves to England. I got a copy through KU.

Colt is part of Griffin Force, a private military group fighting the war on terror. Colt is captured and ends up in a location where former love Brenna is undercover as a servant. This is the story of their escape, rescue and continuing issues with a terrorist determined to wreak havoc in Britain.
I have no idea how true to life any of this might be but it kept me wondering what would happen next.
Hopefully, good things will come for Colt and Brenna.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. The story was good.

** Audiobooks ** This is a fantastic military romance full of action, suspense, & love. Julie Coulter Bellon writes yet another thrilling military romance. Tristan Wright does an AMAZING job narrating this story with many different voices & accents. This story has great characters and if you want to know what happens, you better grab this book. The Captain is book #2 in the Griffin Force series. I highly recommend listening (or reading) the series. I was given a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

I really liked that the author showed both Brenna and Colts caring and tender personality when the other person got hurt. I loved how they had once had a realationship, and then them working together to take down Nazar showed them that they could love and still do the job that they loved. This book showed that even though we may have trials we can overcome them if we put our minds to it. I really enjoyed getting to know Colt and Brenna.

(I listened to this as an audiobook)

Story: 4.5 stars

Well-written, believable (except that Griffin Force is starting to be filled with couples).

Great story where the fight against terrorism continues with drama and a touch of romance.

Narrator: 5 stars

Nice deep voice, but does women’s voices well. Good cadence, expression and accents. I truly enjoy listening to Mr. Wright’s voice acting.

The Griffin Force continues the hunt for terrorist Nazer al-Raimi and on insider intelligence they make a move to strike. Colt is taken hostage and moved to a secret location, where his old flame Brenna is undercover. She breaks cover to get them out, but not in enough time to determine where the next attack is taking place. They continue the hunt, following the intel. Working together brings the flame back to their relationship, but neither of them can imagine a future together.

It's a fast-paced race to stop the attack. If you enjoy clean, suspense-filled story I recommend it.

This was a fantastic addition to the Griffin Force books! I really enjoyed the interactions between the two main characters and the adventure they go on together. It was suspenseful, but not so suspenseful that I couldn't enjoy the character's interactions. The content is clean, some violence, but it is tastefully done and not graphic.

Wow this read grabs you right from the beginning. Its a fast paced edge of your seat read. Thats a real page turner that I could not put down until I finished. The Narrator really brings the different characters out. And the Author has written the scenes so well that you can picture the scenes in you minds eye as you listen. This is definitely a must listen or read.

The second installment of the Griffin Force series was way better then the first. The situations drawing our characters together and pulling them apart were beleiveable. An interesting read but not something that has twists and turns to keep you guessing. That being said, I'm sure I will read the next in the series as well because it is entertaining.
