A Lion's Pride #5

When a Lioness Snarls

Rate this book
Stalking is only a crime among humans. In a lioness’s world, it’s called dating.

Jeoff, is a bit of a killjoy, a super cute one who gets furry on full moons.

But so does she.

Luna is everything Jeoff is not. Outrageous, outgoing, and violent. Very violent, and unafraid to go after what she wants—and she wants Jeoff.

Silly man, he thinks he can resist, but once a lioness sets her sights on a man, paws off! And if anyone thinks to try and take him… There’s a reason why the ladies of the pride win the yearly award for Baddest Biatches.

Fear the claw. *Snarl*.

When a Lioness Snarls by Eve Langlais

Narrated by Serena St Claire
Book 5 of The Lion’s Pride series. Paranormal romantic comedy. Can be read as a stand-alone.
The heart of the lion is, of course, arrogant. In this book, lioness Luna is ordered by her King to help Jeoff investigate several missing shifters. He is so luscious, that she has no pride or inhabitations in flaunting her naked body and enticing him to a quickie. Shocking her, he continues to refuse her!
Jeoff is seriously interested in Luna but he want more than just a fast romp.

Fun and lighthearted, these two eventually succumb to passion and solve the mysterious disappearances.
A fast and entertaining read. I listened to the audio version which was great.

An okay book.

I honestly dove into When a Lioness Snarls because of a challenge. It was an interesting shifter book but mostly worked for background noise while I was working away. Doesn't mean I didn't focus or enjoyed it but that doesn't mean it made really invested either.

First couple of chapter were kind of an annoying back and forth conversation. It didn't really beg me to listen to the audiobook or the couple in it either. In all honesty, I was a bit bored but then things started to pick up.

After meeting Luna and Jeoff, I was a bit hesitant. They were kind of cute but I didn't really know how I felt about them. Plus the whole first half of this book made me want to murder them both. Then these two robots finally got likable. I don't know what it was or when it exactly happened but I got interested - quickly.

In the end, they were a perfect match that needed to happen. Kind of made me think of pride and prejudice a bit? Ugh, now I want to read me some Darcy!

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:

The A Lion’s Pride series has been a nearly flawless winner up to now, and WHEN A LIONESS SNARLS is up there with WHEN AN ALPHA PURRS in terms of sexy fun and action. Centered around a modern pride of werelions, these novellas are quick to read and will make you laugh out loud, which is always a bonus in paranormal romance.

Although the lions like to think they are in charge, it’s the large number of lionesses (so many cousins!) who are they real muscle in the pride. One on one, they may not be as strong, but they stick together, and in human or lion form, lionesses are fierce adversaries you don’t want to mess with.

Her species and her huge extended family are the main reason Jeoff, the alpha of a smaller wolf pack, fights his attraction to Luna for so long. He’s got a pack to take care, and he runs the security for most shifter events, including the security in the highrise where most of the lion pride live. He’s seen what kind of damage the pride can do, and he doesn’t want his peaceful life disrupted on a daily basis and more than it already is.

Unfortunately for him, Luna likes his dorky glasses and he has a really good sunbeam in his living room she loves to bask in. When they are asked to work together by the pride Alpha on a case, Luna sees her chance to finally wear him down.

She thinks she’s going to work hard at getting Jeoff to notice her, but what she hasn’t counted on is that Jeoff has been paying attention for years. And the close proximity blows any defenses he’s built up to peices. It was adorable and hilarious to watch her work so hard, when Jeoff was already so close to cracking. There’s only so much a red blooded wolf can take!

They are investigating missing shifters, and all signs point to all the shifters having gone to one swingers’ bar before they disappeared. In order to get in, they’ll have to pretend to be a couple, and a sexually adventurous one at that. Corny? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely. Especially when they realise they are going to have to play the part in front of the whole pride in order to keep the charade from unravelling!

This book introduces new adversaries and allies, and really shows the power the lionesses have when they work together. It could easily be read as a stand alone, although I definitely recommend the other books in the series. Eve Langlais has written a few shifter series in this genre - Kodiak Point takes place in Northern Canada, and Bitten Point in the bayous. They read almost like episodes in a tv show: quick, fun and hilarious. Check them out if you need a laugh and some steamy shifter romance.

Jeoff and Luna were so much fun! Both want nothing to do with the other, especially not a relationship, but then why are they always drawn to each other? Of course, there is a mystery to solve that they need to work on together in the middle of all this, keeping them in close contact. Jeoff caves o the relationship first, but Luna is a hold-out until the bitter end, making it all the more sweet when she admits she wants her HEA with him <3

This one was ok but not as awesome as the previous books that's why it was a bit disappointing

- Here the hero and heroine were like water and oil, where the heroine was bold as brass the hero was a prude, where the hero was organized the heroine was a mess.

- I liked the heroine's boldness it was cool XD

- The club was a bit creepy to be honest

- I liked the badass moment at the end when they ganged up together

- the epilogue was very intriguing and so looking forward to the next book

Overall *50%*

Kickass heroine, with a bit of crazy. I loved the hero, he was so stoic to the heroine's nutty. A perfect combination. Hot and humorous. Another great shifter story by Eve.

After six whole chapters of "OMG just fuck me already!" and "No, I'm never going to fuck you, even though it's all I can think about when you're around." I AM SO FUCKING BORED. Done.

This is the fifth book in the Lion’s Pride series and while each book can be read as a standalone, they work much better read in order. And honestly, why wouldn’t you read them all? All of them are so funny, witty and terrifically written. This one shows us Luna and Jeoff. Jeoff is a wolf shifter and the head of the Pride’s security. He is the alpha of his own pack and is determined to not look at another shifter romantically. He likes his life ordered, boring and easy to manage. Luna is a force to be reckoned with and does not back down easily. I absolutely loved her. She was fearless, brave, stubborn and confident. Together, she showed Jeoff how much fun being spontaneous and letting go can be, and Jeoff showed her she is more responsible than she thinks and that doesn’t have to change who she is. They were a perfect match and the mystery of the missing shifters was a perfect backdrop for these two connecting and reluctantly falling in love. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. A must read for shifter fans!

Favouite quote:
Men, not the pride males because they learned early on not to mess with a lionesses, but other men, other kinds of shifters, always thought they could control situations. Thought a woman should be demure and seen, not heard. Screw that. Luna had always been a bit of a free spirit and a tomboy.
Aunt Zelda often lamented, “June, how can you let her run wild?” To which her darling mother replied, “That’s not wild. It’s strength and character.”

* You do not need to read the previous stories to read this entry.

Luna is not REALLY stalking wolf alpha Jeoff, she needs him to help her investigate some missing shifter couples. That she is waiting naked for him is just the way lionesses do things. But even though Jeoff resists her attempts at seduction, they will work together on the missing cases. And when they find out the evil that lurks behind the crimes, Luna and Jeoff need to rely on each other more than ever. And then a sparks ignites and their romance takes off.

Pro's:
+ Action packed, with quite a bit of mystery regarding the swingers club. This is a proper detective story, complete with violence and explosions. The romance is also very good, which is always quite hit or miss with this author, as the two leading characters keep circling each other.
+ Luna is the best female character in this series thus far. Completely mad, witty and with almost no fear at all, she will make you chuckle throughout the story and yet somehow you'll still take her seriously.

Con's:
- Jeoff's resistance towards Luna's seduction is quite hot, but sometimes he is a bit whiny about it. He has so many negative things to say about lionesses, but in the end he cannot keep his hands off her.

Another great entry in the series, with more mystery than any of the other entries. Also, I really like a funny detective story, so this really struck home with me. I read it in an afternoon's worth, so its a nice little story to pass a couple of hours with. Luna and Jeoff are very good together, their energy is really good. So really recommended, even if you want to read this as a standalone entry in the series.

This one starts off with tons of sass and laughter and just keeps on going. I adore all of this series and couldn't wait for this one. Jeoff is so serious while Luna is the woman to get him to loosen his tie and have a little fun. They have been teasing us in the last four books and they are the definition of opposites attract. While working on a missing persons case together Jeoff and Luna find themselves working towards not acting on their growing attraction. Well Jeoff is working at not acting and Luna is doing everything possible to get the wolf to act. Like NOW! When Luna is kidnapped Jeoff shows just what a wolf will do when his mate is in danger. This pair kept me not only laughing but rooting for them from beginning to end. The little tease at the end about Reba really excited me. I just know that she is going to be as powerful as Luna. After all they are friends and hangout together a lot!

The fifth book and my favorite so far, in A Lion's Pride series finds readers finally getting a story about Luna and Jeoff who have tantalized fans ever since the first book. Like the others this is a definite lighthearted laugh out loud shifter romance again with an unlikely pairing. Not just because ones a canine and the other feline but well personality wise Luna and Jeoff are totally opposites. But it doesn't stop them from getting the hots for each other. Unlike the other books, this one does have a mystery that is dying to be solved, throwing our protagonists together because of it. Which leads to a lot of very sexy encounters. It will also introduce to the series another kind of shifter which will probably be finding out a lot more about in the next book. In the end we do get a very sexy and hilarious happy ending!

Good pick me up from the funk I've been in lately. Luna was a great character to read, and Jeoff was just too cute. Their chemistry was awesome. The teaser for the next book has me on pins and needles because Gaston seems like an amazing alpha male. Can't wait for the next one!

Luna's Love!

Do you remember Jeoff? If not, he's related to Arabella. This book is about another cat & dog relationship; Luna's the cat (lioness) & Jeoff's the dog (wolf). You also get to meet the new player in town & lets just say he has some tricks up his sleeve too.

This was a very good book & not because of the sex scenes in the last part of this book. This book has a good vs bad plot, 2 stubborn shifters that are attracted to each other & a new player in town that doesn't have to report to Arik, the King of the Lions. It will be interesting to read the next book as it's about the new player & Reba, another lioness.

Great book

This series is awesome. The humor is laugh out loud and the heat scorching. The danger is adrenaline pumping and the love palpable. It was so fun to watch Jeoff and Luna take turns trying to resist each other and watching them eventually succumb to their list and love for each other. I also enjoyed the introduction of some new creatures and can't wait to learn more about them in the upcoming books. If you enjoy shifter paranormal romance books with a ton of heat and danger then this is the series for you. And even if you can read these books as standalone stories, I highly recommend that you read the series in order as they take place within the same pride and characters from previous books make an appearance.

This is another great story for the A Lion's Pride series. Luna and Jeoff are an amazing pair. I really enjoyed seeing how the crazy, impulsive, feisty Luna got the uptight, stand-offish, straight-laced Jeoff to come out and play. I really enjoyed seeing what the author did with the characters. I also enjoyed the new species addition to the series. I look forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

The narrator also did another great job. She brought another life of life to the characters. I look forward to listening to more of her reads.

I loved Jeoff and Luna. I thought there romance was more about a cat a mouse game (no pun intended). I loved the fact that Luna knew that she wanted Jeoff and refused to let him go. Then Jeoff became the one to chase Luna. I also loved the story that was happening and we are introduced to a new character, Jean Francois, that gets his own book When a Lioness Pounces. I want to know more about him and his group.

Eve Langlais is one of those authors I can read over and over again and I want more from her. I need more from her.

I really like the fact that there was no insta love and insta lust here right away ...
And I really like how the wolf was presented ... A bit nerdy, but still very interesting!
Luna ... Sometimes she's great, and sometimes I want to strangle her ... Well, sometime him too ....
Certainly the plot is getting more complicated with new characters ....
An interesting light read that will both frustrate and make you laugh!

Another great instalment by Eve. Luna was, as usual, a kickass heroine, with a whole lot of crazy. Love those lionesses.
Jeoff was also great, he was so stoic to all the craziness that surrounded Luna, it was funny at times but on occasion a little clichéd.
Steamy scenes with lots of humorous banter.
Overall a quick easy read and am looking forward to the next instalment in this series.

Another great book by Eve Langlais. A lioness and a wolf are just crazy. The way the to interact is just hilarious and romantic at the same time. Now if they could just get their acts straight they might just work great together. Lots of action is expected with a lioness that sees everything as a play toy.

This is the last book I am reading from this author. Her writing stile became somewhat juvenile . The dialogs full of clichés, The plot is underdeveloped. The first couple of books were nice, not this one. This one is boring and ridiculous
