Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
un volume clamoroso, da cui esce tutto il talento di ONE nella scrittura dei personaggi. "Tu ti ritieni al di sopra di tante persone, ma purtroppo vivi in un mondo in cui sei l’unico abitante".
This was like reading an old school Marvel Comic, it is just walls of text with a lot of the action hidden behind those walls. Despite having some interesting dialog and self discovery of several characters this volume is just one long fight. It was not bad and I was entertained. Mob is growing up and maturing rapidly.
One of my favorite volumes so far. The interaction between Serizawa and Mob was brilliant. Despite his young age, Mob is very mature and understands himself and others better now. You can see how much he has changed. Other than that, the majority of the volume is dedicated to the fight between the Boss and Mob which is sensational. Both the Boss and Mob are absurdly strong and I loved how Mob changed from one emotion to another during the fight. The volume ends with a cliffhanger and this arc is almost over.
Mob Psycho 100 is an amazing series. And this particular volume really serves to showcase. In this volume, the CLAW situation comes to a head as Shigeo and co face off against Touichirou Suzuki, the self-important superpowered CEO who wants to take over the world...just because he can.
Touichirou is a really interesting villain. Not because he has incredible character depth (though many of the characters in the series do), but because he serves as such an interesting metaphor for power. The entire point of Mob Psycho 100 is examining both the struggles of coming of age and the mundanity of adulthood through the lens of the paranormal. Like many things in the series, Touichirou is a satire, and one who serves as an utter juxposition to the themes of the story and the everyday struggles of the main cast. It's quite an interesting look at corruption, power, and arrogance that uses supernatural battles to examine the nature of humans within society.
I also really liked the interactions between Shigeo and Serizawa at the start of this volume; though it wasn't fully explored, it's really interesting how they serve as sorts of mirrors for one another. Both are incredibly powerful and incredibly awkward; the difference is, however, that Serizawa is an adult who has given in to his fear. Shigeo is a child trying to overcome it.
I just love the introspective nature of this series. In particular, the big boss battle really stood out to me. While I did think it was a bit rushed, it also, like all the battles in this series, was framed almost as if this is a horror story. The dissection of violence and conflict in this series through a Shonen lens is always fascinating, and that was of course still present here.
To summarize, I really liked this volume, and thought it did a great job of exploring some of the series' main themes.
I really love Mob. He’s just such a kind kid. Reading this volume was interesting because I’ve seen the anime. Admittedly, it’s been a while. And maybe that’s why things happened differently than I remembered. Nothing major, but enough minor stuff that I was kind of confused. Maybe I’m mixing up plot points from different parts of the story?
Anyway, this volume consists of three long chapters. They encompass Mob’s fight with Serizawa, Sho’s fight with his father, and then Mob’s fight with Sho’s dad. Funnily enough, Mob’s fight with Sho’s dad reminded me of Mob’s fight with Hanazawa.
I know Sho’s dad is meant to be this big, scary overlord villain. But the stuff he was saying made me feel second hand embarrassment. He sounded like a whiny teenager. I get that it has to do with the fact that he’s emotionally immature, stemming from the fact that he’s never been able to connect with people. But even so, sir, I cringed.
He definitely sucks though. He’s homicidal and lacking in empathy. It looks like he was finally not viewing the world with main character syndrome near the end, at least. Meeting Mob will do that. I’m looking forward to the next volume.
I can’t believe I only have one volume left now that I finished this one. The climactic final battle was all I could have hoped for, but that cliffhanger….
is mob okay? this is the type of story that you wouldn’t think would have a major twist like killing off the main character, but you never know.
The climax of mobs conversation with the boss was beautiful. He finally reached through to him and made him remember his humanity. But it may be too late.
How will Reigen react, how will Ritsu react?
Mobs carousel of emotions is what I like most about his character. It makes him feel real. The fact he still wants to save the boss after everything he’s done, it’s inspiring and makes me want to implement such morals into myself.
That’s how you know it’s a good story.

Salah satu volume favorit.
It's a nice mix of incredibly stupid and hilarious that the 'boss' keeps screaming about his high power level and the numbers keep going up and up and up and become bigger and bigger and then Mob just has a single emotion and evens the playing field. Yeah, you might be strong, but Mob is "sad" so get rekt.
Mob's friends vs. Claw. Power distribution. Mob talks down most of his opponents and only resorts to his powers for defense or as a last explosion when all is lost.
Finally finished this. Wish I had done so sooner as this is a really good volume, but still have a waiting period for the next volune as I don't read these online.
