The explanations and the illustrations in this book make the book easy to be understood by the newbie. This book covers all the principle in the chess game. Worth to read!
It is an introduction to chess but it provides a nice revision as well. Nice to read it while practically performing the moves on the board. The last chapter was on a match between Paul Murphy and the Duke of Brunswick. It was a nice presentation. Hope that I found other books with similar presentation.
Beautifully illustrated in 3D making it very easy to follow. Children can learn chess from this and refer to it when they grow up. A nice book to have on the shelf.
I have been a volunteer chess coach for a local grade school team for 5 years. I always give the new chess players a beginner's book each year. I have also looked for a book that would work as a complement to what I teach in the class.
This is the best beginner's chess book that I have found. It is very similar to what I teach during the year, so I bought one for each chess family to use as a guidebook. I use a very large hanging magnetic chess set when I provide instruction. This will be an excellent review for the players to review at home.
It shows all the basic moves in a large format with many pictures. It will certainly improve their performance if the use this as a supplement.
Highly recommended for new chess players or teachers of new players.
