Tells the backgound of most major holidays and celebrations observed in the US. Teaser: Almost all of them have roots in non-Judeo-Christian tradition.

Historical perspectives on the whats & whys of American holidays. Good mix and, given the Hallmark Cards association the author has, the book included a nice list of lesser-known holidays.
