A Turtle's Magical Adventure is a charming, heart-warming story of a turtle who doesn't like his shell because it makes him too slow. Tad asks other slow animals if they also mind being slow. Each one gives an answer that helps Tad feel better, but, still he wants to be fast. He happens upon a snake who tells him there is a wizard that can make him fast. He goes on an adventure into The Magical Timberwood Forest to meet the wizard and hopefully get his wish fulfilled. He encounters delightful, magical creatures along the way but also meets with danger and choices. Will Tad get his wish or will the wizard turn him into turtle soup?
I'm a High School Guidance Counselor with 22 years experience. I also hold a license in Mental Health Counseling but I'm not currently practicing. My passion is to help children be the best they can be. I write books that entertain as well as carry a positive social/emotional message. I love cycling and swimming. I live with my 2 lovable Yorkies, Scruffy and Tessa. My daughter is like Little Birdie in Little Birdie Grows Up and she has flown the nest and lives in another state with her husband.
A cute story about liking yourself and discovering your own unique qualities. The wizard seemed like kind of a jerk but did the right thing in the end. My child was glad to see Tad return home safely at the end of the story. There were some editing issues and parts of the story did drag a bit, but overall we enjoyed it.
I listened to the Audible audio version of this book. I rated this book at 4.5 on Audible.
"Such a Cute Story With a Great Message"
"A Turtle's Magical Adventure" was too cute. I thought the story was exactly appropriate for the age group. There was a great message about acceptance and the characters were adorable.
It was a little Wizard of Oz-y and a little Adam and Eve-ish and it worked. With that said, there was no pretense at all. This audiobook was just plain adorable. I think Wanda Luthman has a knack for writing children's stories. My youngest grand who's 7 would love this one.
Mercedes Phillips' narration was cute. She was able to get down on a kid's level of speaking. She also has a good tone in her voice. The audio quality was lacking only slightly but what kid's going to notice that. A non-issue.

How focusing on what you can do, helps to accept what you can’t.
A turtle’s magical adventure is an awesome children’s book about Tad the turtle who isn’t pleased with being slow on the ground and he is searching how he could run quicker. He thinks he would be much happier if he could be faster. This becomes such an obsession for him that he only listen to the advice of the snake to find the wizard. On the road, he also meets a duck, a snail and the gnome women Phlome. They all had something that didn’t it easy for them, but they decided to look at the benefits of what they can do, instead of looking at what they cannot do... And Tad starts thinking and thinking. But then the wizard comes into action. What will happen?
You can see, he morals of this book are obviously visible, but it never made this book less interesting. On the contrary, it was an exciting read and kids will love it. And learn, it is important to focus on what they can do, that will help to accept the things they don’t like so much.
This is a charming story with a strong message for children. Tad the turtle doesn't like something about himself. He wants to change and become more like others he admires. Tad is willing to risk a lot to change himself and become what he thinks will make him happy, even venture into the forbidden forest to seek out the magician's help. On Tad's adventure, he meets a snake, a snail, a duck, a lame gnome girl, and the not-so-accomodating magician; and all the character's opinions weigh on Tad's view of himself and help him decide what is right for him. Children will love this story because it delightfully shows why it's okay to be who you are.
This book did a great job of teaching self-acceptance, and showing how dangerous it is when we start trying to change important things about ourselves before we truly know what those are. Entertaining while being educational and inspirational for such a young audience is difficult. Heck, let’s face it, doing those things in any age-group or genre is hard, but for kids? WOW! Does this book accomplish the goal? Absolutely! In a big way! Great book for the wee ones, and parents please read at least once with older children to make sure and discuss the book when done. Great job Wanda.

I occasionally like to pick up books to read to my granddaughters. This one is a shear delight. Tad, the turtle doesn't seem to be happy with himself. He wants to be faster. Through a series of events and with the help of others (along with a sassy snake who gives very bad advice) Tad discovers that he is perfect just the way he is.
This was a delightful story from an author I will seek out to find more books my grandchildren will enjoy.
This is a cute little story with an important message. Tad the turtle is unhappy because he isn't faster so he goes on an adventure in search of a way to get a magical wizard to help him, but Tad finds out a lot about himself along the way. Written in a simple, easy style, children will be able to understand the lessons that Tad's friends share with him about self acceptance.
A fun easy read that kept my sons interest throughout. A positive message runs through the story to love yourself as you are which is great moral to pass onto kids. Well written with many life lessons for kids - highly recommended!
A Turtle's Magical Adventure by Wanda Luthman is an adorable storybook for children with an excellent message; that of accepting their flaws and loving themselves, and turning their negatives into positives. Tad the turtle loves swimming, but he was curious to know why turtles are slow on land. He meets a few people who give him different responses, but he still wants to become fast. Steve the snake advises him to meet a wizard who lives deep in Timberwood Forest and Tad decides to listen to him. Will the wizard be able to guide Tad and make him faster on land? Or will Tad the turtle accept himself and be happy?
The story is whimsical and has good life lessons for children. The message of accepting oneself is encouraging for a lot of children, especially those who are unhappy with themselves. It's a good story for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries and also makes a good bedtime storybook. The illustrations are vivid and lively, and they give a good pace and movement to the story. They succeed in making the scenes and characters tangible to young readers.
Children understand a concept, moral, and message with clarity when these are conveyed with the help of a story and illustrations. Tad the turtle and the rest of the characters in Timberwood Forest are magical and will enthrall young readers till the very end.
