I shouldn’t have kissed Lindsey the morning after her husband died… Letting Lindsey leave kept her safe from the eventual unhappiness I’d bring to her life. The distance I’d maintained was only broken that one ill-fated day. Now she’s attempting to rebuild and I’m at a loss to reconcile the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. While I still can’t have Lindsey, maybe I can help her. I shouldn’t have let Mitch think that kiss was about us… Guilt over betraying my husband’s memory is killing me and letting Mitch take the blame for that kiss was wrong. He’s still battling his long-standing demons and, to make matters worse, we’re slipping back into the reckless pattern of our lives from when we were young. I know he’ll push me away like he’s done before. But I’m not sure how to stop us from hurting my daughter.

This is a well written conclusion in tying two books together. The author once again brings a cast of strong characters along with tons of emotions to the story line. She moves the story fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and delivers another great read.

4.5 bumped to 5 Red Pepper & Meant to Be Stars. Imprint picks up right where Canvas left off. This one seems to flow a little smoother. Maybe that’s because of the familiarity I already had with the characters and that they are now adults with families and careers of their own. They are not as impulsive or at least try not to be. There is way more at stake. Yet, with all of the growing up, the maturity, and the stability gained there is much that is in upheaval. Sometimes it seems the more things change the more they stay the same. That is especially true when you begin to realize that there are some things you just can’t fight and the harder you try to, the worse it gets.

Mitch is still making the wrong decisions for all the right reasons. He is still in protector/self-sacrificing mode when it comes to those he truly loves. He had an abusive childhood, which is difficult for anyone to overcome. Oh, he wasn’t physically abused, in many ways that would have been easier to get over. No, his was emotional and mental abuse. To the person who should love and protect him above all else, he is just a tool. Mitch has known it for a while, but he also feels he has to “take it” so that he can protect his real family. He knows that the woman who gave him life will go after them if he doesn’t fall in line with her manipulations. He tries the best he can to fight her, but he feels it’s useless. And so is he, she’s told him enough times that he believes it. Mitch has never shared all that went on while he was with his mother. Because of this, his true family doesn’t understand his actions much of the time. They try to figure it out and know it’s connected to his mother, but they don’t know the full extent of it all. In Imprint, Mitch finally has to decide which path his life is going to take. The one that protects everyone? Or the one that will make him happiest? Or can the two actually be combined?

There are just as many emotions in this one as there were in Canvas, but this one is a quieter emotional ride. There are a lot of revelations and soul searching. Once again, there is more than one story that runs through this one. Yet because the Hammond family is like it is, all the stories come together to form a picture of life and the true love that comes with it if you’re lucky.

Great storyline, poor execution.

The first book of this duet was tough to start, but the storyline was good and kept me going. I purchased this one because I wanted to know the ending. The typos in this book are beyond distracting and I am finding the formatting difficult to follow at times. There is too much repetition and recapping from book one. There is no need to repeat book one in book two or to speak what is easily implied. Give the reader some credit in being able to continue reading a story.
The characters are interesting and are easily relatable. I really enjoyed the multiple perspectives in the story, but again the constant recapping and stating what is easily implied was distracting.
With more care to typos and further editing to remove what isn't needed and this is easily a 5 star duet.

Brilliant. This is the second book in the duet and takes over from where Canvas ends. I enjoyed book one, but feel this is better.... Focusing on the relationship between Lindsey and Mitch and everything that has happened between them over the years.
Mitch finally comes to terms with his feelings for Lindsey even if it takes most of the book yo come to a head, but it rears to the fore in great fashion - in the bridal shop, within the hearing of his bride to be Amanda, plus Lindsey. He finally succumbs to accepting his relationship with his mother is disturbed and dis-functional; plus hid marriage to Amanda was nothing short of a smokescreen in smothering his love for Lindsey. The writing of the final chapters & ending is lovely and rewarding.
Mitch learns to man-up. Amanda, overbearing gets the truth, Megan and Doug have problems to face, Joan is a cameo character, Lindsey is the grieving widow slowly facing her fears, loss and desires.

Lindsey and Mitch .... finally get together???

Imprint is the second book in the Canvas series and is continues the story of Lindsey and Mitch. The first book, Canvas, must be read before this book otherwise you may not pick up everything. These books are an emotional roller-coaster ride with two people who share their life's ups and down. There were times where I found the story dragging, repeating or rehashing things from the first book. So I did skim parts just to get past these things. By the end there were some unanswered things so not sure if the author is planning another book or not to this story, as I had thought it was only going to be two books. Overall this was a good story.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Imprint picks up right where Canvas leaves us. The storyline is extremely good and I preferred this book to Canvas, although it wasn’t taking me in a direction I wanted it to go. Nevertheless by the end this angsty, emotional rollercoaster, drama laden book had me feeling like I’d been put through my paces, I was wrung out and in need of a drink and tissues. Maybe a weekend on the lake with Scarlett and Peter would be the place to recover. OMG David is my hero, he is so level headed that he had me crying so hard for him. Frustrations at the lack of communication between Mitch and Lindsey. Although he meant well, I just couldn’t understand his thought process at times, thankfully he opened his eyes and saw clearly at the end.

Wow multi person POV was interesting way to write and read a story. A few times I had to stop and think- which person's voice. Made for a different kind of read I kind of enjoyed.Mitch has been controlled by his mother his whole life even though he lived with his father and step mother who he called mom. He never felt like he could keep anyone in his life with his mother's far reaching powers. This leaves Mitch keeping everyone at a safe distance until he literally falls in love with Lindsey who he pushes away to safe everyone. not a cliff hanger ending but I knew I couldn't stop with book 1 dug right into Imprint

This is book two in The Canvas Series and it continues Lindsey and Mitch's story. I really enjoyed the conclusion to this story and I couldn't put this book down as it had great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. I definitely recommend you read this book but just remember that you will need to read book one which is Canvas first to get all the background history but it is definitely worth reading.

Really enjoyed reading the conclusion to this 2 book set. Good depth to the characters, sharing their ups and downs of living life. Great understanding of the human psyche and the emotional strengths and weaknesses we all experience at some point. In the end concluded quite quickly to the HEA but the Epilogue was a nice touch.
Was left wanting to read more from this author.

The second book in the Canvas series a story that kept me turning pages. Mitch and Lindsey's story mainly with its ups and downs, and Mitch finally realizing what he is about to lose if he goes ahead with his plans. It is also about their family and friends. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is part of a duet and should probably read in order since "Imprint" picks up right where "Canvas" ended. The writer does a really good job in this story. The characters are strong and the plot is very interesting. The story is a roller coaster ride and worth every minute.

Worth the wait

It was a tough slog as Mitch wrestled to come to grips with the women in his life. Some to embrace. Some to cast aside.gave me pause for thought, which is great.

This is the second book in the series, the first being Canvas. Here we find Lindsey dealing with the aftermath of tragedy from Canvas, raising her daughter, and being pulled back into a very complex relationship with Mitch. Mitch, now engaged to a successful lawyer, finds himself torn between his love for Lindsey and his never-ending internal fight to settle into the life he feels he deserves. We also see Mitch's sister, Megan, as she deals with the strain of being a wife, mother, sister, and friend, all while dealing with heartache of her own.

The characters are well-developed, and the dialogue is quick-witted and always intriguing. As with the first book, I find myself both loving and hating Mitch, much like his sister might. You know what's best for him, as Megan does, yet you cannot believe he's so stubborn that he cannot figure it out for himself!

I can't think of another book that has made me want to gather up everyone I love and hug them as badly as this one did. Unfortunately, I was home alone when I read it. This is a sequel to the novel Canvas, and again follows Mitch and Lindsey on their personal journeys through life, trying to find peace with their inner demons and figure out the intricacies of love. The characters in the book are so real that you hate to see bad things happen to them, even while knowing that even in real life it doesn't work like that.

This is a good story that flows and was harder to put down than Canvas. I love the way Mitch develops in this story, a person with good traits and possibilities, but not so over the top goody-goody that the reader says "Yeah right, as if somebody like this really could exist!”
