If you like the “Eric Ludy” brand of humor, then this book will give you an hour of laughter as you discover a disturbing trend within the Church today. Throughout twenty years of ministry and standing on the frontlines of Christian leadership, Eric Ludy has received a lot of potshots, accusations, and name calling—which God has used to produce laughter and leaps of joy. One such label that has been thrust upon him is “cult leader”—a title not many of us want placed around our necks, or in this case, our waist. In this hilarious, fun, and insightful book, Eric unashamedly pokes at the topic, discovering what makes a great cult leader, and in the end, finds himself lacking. Using humor to illustrate a difficult topic, this book reminds the Body of Christ that we must stand together rather than devour one another.
Eric is a bestselling author, internationally-recognized speaker and president of Ellerslie Mission Society. He is also the senior pastor at the Church at Ellerslie and the lead instructor at Ellerslie Leadership Training in Windsor, Colorado. Ludy is the author of more than a dozen books, many of which were co-authored by his wife, Leslie Ludy. The Ludy's books have sold well over a million copies in the United States and have been translated into over a dozen different languages and circulated widely throughout the world.
Humorous little book, with a few good quotes. I appreciate the author’s attitude and response to being called a “cult leader”. Nothing super remarkable about this book, but it’s very short and kinda funny, so I can’t complain.
Some quotes:
“But, ‘Eric, you are a cult leader’ - that’s a totally different story. It’s sort of like naming Winnie the Pooh People Magazine’s sexiest man alive.”
“To change a corrupt system, you will likely need to offend the corrupt system somewhere along the journey.”
“Please don’t miss this all important lesson: manure makes amazing fertilizer.”
Are These Really My Pants? is a hilarious memoir about a pastor being given the 'pants' of a cult leader. It is a short book that touches on topics such as, giving thanks to the Lord even when being wrongly accused, how to handle false accusations, how to graciously accept the cult leader title and in turn use it to grow spiritually, and more.
The lessons Eric taught were interesting and kept you hooked through his wonderful sense of humor. I think anyone would be able to enjoy this short book, and it's free online, via the Eric Ludy website!
