One destroys me One breaks me And one becomes my everything.
I may be the girl that takes school far too seriously, avoids walking under ladders and walking over three drains in a row. But I’m also the out-going, cheerful, social butterfly that loves to go out with friends, party and have fun.
Have all that I am ripped away from me, what am I left with?
Who am I?
They say bad luck comes in threes.
After barely surviving the first two, I’m out to prove to Lady Luck that my number doesn’t come in three’s.
The blurb on this one was intriguing so I decided to give it a try. I was expecting a college romance type but this is far better than your typical college romance. I was nervous when Willow had so many different types of men surrounding and wanting her, I thought it would end up making her character dumb and insta-love with all of them but it didn't. The real relationship between her and Cole makes the wait, the drama and the sad things that happen to her and her friends worth it. This is a new author for me but I will definitely be trying some of her other books now.
When Willow started college away from home with her best friend Allie she learns not everyone is as they seem. What she thought she was ready for ends up being more than she ever anticipated. Will Willow get through her first year or will it break her?
I was gifted this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review and boy did Lisa have me hooked before the first chapter was done.
This book isn’t for the fate at heart as I found it hard to read at times but that’s the nature of this story. There are twists in the story that I have seen before in other books bringing light to many issues in many people lives today. You can’t help but like the cocky confidences of Logan and Jamie but you know there is just something about them that make you want to hate them too. Liam Cole (Cole) is the bruiting Alpha male who makes you fall in love with him easily. He seems to know what Willow needs and takes care of her. They have this intense connection from the first time they meet. You can feel it every time they are in the same room. Willow instantly trusts him and that’s about the only thing that can save her sanity. When these two are together fireworks go off. Cole’s best friend CJ will keep you laughing. He is attracted to Willow’s best friend Allie from the moment they meet and he loves to push her buttons but this is his way of flirting with her. He gets jealous when other guys around her show any sign of interest in her. Allie is the shy best friend but she has a story that eventually comes out after years of keeping it a secret. Allie will do anything for Willow including putting up with CJ’s antics.
What I like about Willow is that she may have started out being the damsel in distress but when she finds out that what happened to her is just a game to others and they are getting away with it. She decides that she needs to stand up for the ones who couldn’t stand up for themselves and get justice. She has a great group of friends who not only back her up when she decides to take a stand but they help her out with the risky plans she comes up with.
This book had me on a roller coast ride of emotions that left me speechless. Willow’s story may have been a hard one to read and may hit close to home for some but it is one that will keep you thinking about it or what you would do for years to come. It’s hard to believe that this is only Lisa’s 10th book. She has grown so much as a writer and touching on some serious subjects but she’s written about them so well that you can’t help but be drawn into the book and her characters. I look forward to reading her other books in the works.
This book starts pretty good, fun to read (but also a bit confusing with all of the - apparently - hot male characters beimg introduced right away.. who the f knows so many hot guys? That's not what real life is like!). But then the weirdness begins. So it's about this fun, talkative girl with her nerdy bff starting college (hello stereotypes! Guess which one's the virgin). The nerdy girl, Allie, waited for her bff, Willow, to have enough money for college (bc college is not free in the uk, blessed to live in Austria) so they can experience the whole thing together. So they live in a - what seems to be ginormous - flat together. They decide to go get to know the neighbours CJ and Cole ("This is Liam, but you can call him Cole" ????) (who does that, i'd never talk to some stranger neighbours.. mine could have been dead for weeks and i couldn't care less, but w/e) and SURPRISE they are super hot and all four of them have a crush on each other. Randomly, Willows best friend, who she hasn't seen in two years, turns up, and though he seems like the funniest and nicest dude ever, no one but Willow likes/trusts him, including Willow's boyfriend Alec. Have I mentioned that all the dudes are hot in this book? So story goes on, Alec doesn't like Logan, Logan behaves like a little shit, Alec and Willow fight, break up, Allie's behaving weird around Logan, blah blah. After the fight between Alec and Willow, Willow decides to go to a party hosted by Logan and - wait for it, you won't believe it - gets DRUGGED AND RAPED BY HER BFF LOGAN! (I mean.. really?) So after waking up it's all drama and Logan acts like it was not rape, Willow gets home, all crying and hurt, and decides to drive to the hospital. Alec shows up and accuses her of cheating with Logan cause he has a picture of them on his phone (where they are naked), hits her and breaks up with her. On her way out she meets her neighbor Cole and he brings her to the hospital (if I has just been raped I wouldn't want a dude next to me but ok). So the story goes on and Willow finds out that Allies weird behaviour around Logan was caused by a almost-rape when they were much younger.. but she hasn't told her bff? Anyways, the girls decide to get revenge on the rapist dude and get theor neighbors in to drug logan and get him in prison. At halloween shit goes down. Willow's almost being raped again but finds a shit ton of dvds (WHO THE HELL HAS DVDS IT'S 2016 IN THIS BOOK) of all the girls he has raped. Logan gets in prison, Allie and CJ get together, Cole/Liam and Willow are a couple too, happy end. But the book ends in a cliffhanger - a girl that knew Logan got killed at college.
There are a few things I don't like about this book: - Typos all over the place (proofreading no?) - the second half of the book is straight up boring - Willows behaviour? Already being in a relationship with a guy just a few weeks after beig raped..? - BFF's not telling each other about being raped? - Willow 24/7 worries about money, but all of a sudden after the rape she has enough money? - Alec not caring that his ex has been raped - How has Willow not seen that Logan is an asshole? - WHY HASN'T THE AUTHOR PROOFREAD?????
So, yeah, would not recommed.

I really liked this one! At first I was like "woah how many guys are going to be involved with this girl" because we had the best friend, the boyfriend and the hot neighbour all in the first couple of chapters...or was it just the first chapter? Either way it was like "well damn". I knew Cole was the endgame though. Logan was too sketchy and Alec was a little b*tch.
Willow and her best friend Allie are starting Uni and moving into their apartment when the door opposite theirs opens and out come 2 hot hulking boys. Jackpot in the neighbour department. CJ, the playful charismatic one and Cole the intense quiet one. The perfect pair. And they immediately set their sights on their new neighbours. Cole with Willow and CJ with Allie. All very convenient I know but whatever. But tension rises when Logan, Willow's boy best friend, enters the picture, having obvious beef with Cole and CJ. And then there's Willow's friendship with Logan, that has only ever been friendship, and Willow's boyfriend Alec doesn't like it one bit.
But then one night everything changes.
Like I said I really liked this book, and I'll be reading the next one for sure, but there were a lot of loose ties and pointless parts of the story not really emphasized as much as it could've been.
1: Willow's babysitting job with Cole's six year old little sister. That kind of fell flat. 2: Kicking Alec's ass. Where did that douche end up? What happened to him in the end!? 3: That Christie chick...what was she introduced for? What was her point in being in the story at all other than to be an annoying b*tch. She wasn't an ex...not that I know of. Her and Alec seemed like they had history. Either way she was just pointless and good riddance. 4: The cover indicates this story will have to do with sports, football specifically, IT DOESN'T. The boys are in the football and rugby teams but that's not even a factor for the storyline. Misleading cover much. (This one isn't a biggie but I did think it odd)
Now what has me worried is that CJ and Allie are already together and the next book will be on them. So what will their problem be? An angry ex of CJ's since he was a player before Allie? I HOPE TO GOD NOT! I can't deal with exes and the sh*t past they drag back up and...just don't let it be that please.
Foul play is a story of heartbreak, betrayal and justice.
Another amazing story by Lisa Helen Gray, that gave me the feels. I went through a range of emotions whilst reading Foul Play. When Willow hurt, I was hurt for her, I was angry for her. I was rooting for willow to get justice for not only herself, but for all of the other girls. Lisa projected the storyline and the emotions perfectly! I cannot wait for more from the Whitehall series. Lisa is one of my favourite authors, and if I am honest, I didn’t think I could love another of her books as much as the Carter brother’s series. But I loved Foul play, just as much as any other of Lisa’s books.
I was hooked from page one; I absolutely loved Cole and Cj. I loved the bickering between Allie and Cj, I cannot wait to see what happens with them further on in the series. I really liked how Cole and Willows relationship progressed, I liked the steady build up of it and the protective bond they had of one another.
When willow moves to attend university with her best friend Allie, she expects to have a fun time, and spend time with her childhood best Logan. But things soon start to fall apart and Logan is not all that he seems. What willow thought would be the best time of life, turns out to be a year that is determined to break her. But is Willow strong enough to whether the storm. Is she prepared for a battle of justice of will she let the toughest time in her life, break her?
With the help of her best friend Allie, and her new found friends: Cole, CJ, Jordan, Jane, Becca & Rosie. Willow creates not only a family, but also a support system and finds enough peace to move on from painful events.
Willow is anxious to begin her college year with her best friend. She believes she has it all, a caring boyfriend, her best friend from childhood is back in her life and her new neighbors seems to be extremely nice. Willow's happy life is about to crackle though when one of the above does something she is not sure she will recover from. Betrayed but with the best possible people to help her fight, Willow plans to take down the person who she thought she could trust.
This was different from this author. I liked Willow a lot, she goes through something horrific and becomes a fighter for others as well as herself. Enjoyed the romance aspect but it is a slow burn and not the full focus of the story. Can't wait to see what is next in this series.
The synopsis intrigued me so I decided to read it and I didn’t regret getting the book. I was hooked from the first page and the characters gives something to the story.
When Willow moved to attend university, she thought it was going to be the beginning of fun time, especially considering that her childhood best friend Logan also attended the same university. Though soon everything starts to fall apart because Logan has his secrets and Willow didn’t see it coming. It broke her in a way and she had to pick herself up with the help of her friends, including her hot neighbour, Cole.
Willow is definitely a lovable character. You will fall instantly for her because she’s just a sunshine. She’s so positive and happy. Ally, Willow’s best friend is also very likable. She makes the perfect sidekick for Willow. While Willow is loud and social, Ally is shy and quiet most of the time. They balanced each other very well. Cole is definitely an intriguing character. He’s quiet but there is just something about him that got Willow’s attention (AND MINE!). I like the slow build between the two. It took time for both of them to get to know and trust each other
The issues discussed in Foul Play are serious issues. It kinda scares me how real it felt to me while reading the book. Lisa Helen Gray has her way with words. It was almost like I could feel everything Willow was feeling and because I was rooting for her, it affected my feelings even more.
I can’t wait for the next book. I want more Ally! And I think I’m going to read more books from Lisa Helen Gray.
Another amazing read from Lisa. This amazing book had me crying one second and laughing the next!. Foul play is the struggle a young woman named willow. She goes through a life altering event and this follows her In her courage and determination not to be beaten. Not to let life's events dictate her life her future. The need to correct a wrong. You follow her through her battle and you feel every emotion along the way. Secrets are revealed. Plans are made and just when you think it's done Lisa leaves you wanting more. It's amazingly written and will have you laughing through your tears. This is a must read but be prepared to have your tissues on the ready. Can't wait for book 2! X
This book is a little darker than expected. Willow has finally made her dream of attending university come to fruition. Moving in with her childhood friend Allie, they are determined to make the change exciting and memorable. Willow is attending the same school as her boyfriend Alec and her childhood friend Logan. When a run in with her new neighbors and her friends things take a strange twist. This story took a turn I didn't see coming but it will make you fall in love with the big guy and show the strength of Willow. This is a fantastic story that should be read and shared.
This is first book of Lisa's I have read and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. It touched on a subject that is so sensitive and it was just wow. I laughed and cried! My heart broke with willow and I bloody loved Cole and CJ. Definitely worth a read I promise you will not be disappointed. Can not wait to read her other books.
I'm not violent, but now I want to jump in book and kick someone. When Willow started college away from home with her best friend Allie she, did not expect to come across there her long time friend with whom she grow apart. There are so many boys in the book. Logan Willow bestriend from childhood. And then there is Logan bestriend Jamie, and Willow have boyfriend Alec. Who is very jealous on to Logan that he pays a lot of attention to her girlfriend. Add two more hotties there Cole and Cj Cole bestriend her neighbors. Cole is hottie, athletic alpha male and with a good heart. And if Willow and Cole they first meet then sparkle fly between them. But Willow is not such a girl who deceives her boyfriend. But something changes and Cole and Willow road gross. This story shocked me very much. There is scanes in book so violent and lot of confusion. As you would not believe it would be possible. Yes of course Author making things even more complicated in Epiloque . Overall drama, violent, teen problems, mean girls, assholes ,alcohol, drugs, partys and romance. Thank you Lisa Helen Gray!
I love romance novels but when there’s a plot such as the one in this novel you can put the book down. Rape is such an awful crime but I love how the plot ends, wishing that all victims out there had a Liam and a CJ in their life’s and the strength of Will to survive their trauma. My heart goes to all out there that had suffer in the hands of vile people such as Logan. Great job author.
This book is amazing and definitely worth a read. It can be quite dark in places because of the subject matter involved and for some it may cause triggers ,so be warned . But saying that , I laughed, cried and totally fell in love with both Cole and Cj . This is a brilliant first book and I can't wait for book 2.
I never have money for books but I got a gift certificate and bought this one and the next two first thing. I am not disappointed I didn’t want to put it down. It has good character building the friendships and relationships building is there. I was cheering the entire time for the good guys. I have yet to read a book by Lisa Hellen Gray that I have not loved.
Okay I read this full series and the books were all really good reads but also kinda depressing at times all the drama and bad shit going on throughout the whole series was jut insane I found myself wanting to throw in the towel and call it quits a few times that being said I am glad I stuck it out because all the books had epic HEA's so I am a happy bookworm
Again a brilliant book, I couldn't put it down the story line was amazing showing how strong people can be, I loved it so much it showed true friendship & heartbreak, I was absolutely in book heaven reading it. Thank you for another fantastic book
I could read a Lisa Helen Gray book any day, Easy! Every single one of her books just pulls me in for a crazy ride! Absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to finish the rest of another amazing series !
I liked this book a lot, but it's not as good as the Carter brother's series. I'm actually not even going to read the next one. I did like the character's, but didn't get as invested as I wished I could. It was missing something.
