As she heads into her final semester at Darrow Law School, Kelsey runs into a string of bad luck, which Tyler brushes off as accidental. He joins her for a romantic Spring Break, but before it’s time to head back to school, the two of them realize that sometimes bad luck isn’t random at all.
Frustrations abound in this novel. First let me say that I'm totally hooked on this soap opera. I tried very hard not to get into this series after book 1, but to no avail. The characters were just too interesting. My pet peeves overtook me in this novel, though, such that I'm writing this review before finishing. 1) As the series progresses, the grammar and editing get worse. Things that stand out and finally irk me so much that I'm enumerating them: a semester is half a year. so if there are three terms in the school year, then it is NOT a semester. It would be a quarter because each school term takes up 1/4 of the year (leaving the last 3 months for summer). Next, misuse of the word "worse" when "worst" is the meaning. 2) The events in this novel were predictable. I'll accept that a 23-24 y/o might not understand the complexities of the legal corporate world, but in this situation, Kelsey was just dumb. She is straight up threatened by a woman who has been known to take no prisoners, and she wonders why bad things are happening to her. DUH! A seriously stupid few weeks. For someone who is so smart, she really was not using any portion of her brain. And while I may not be at this point in the book yet, WHY HAS SHE NOT TOLD TYLER about what Lisa did?! Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. That is the first thing I would have done b/c if anyone knows Lisa, it's Tyler, and Kelsey needed that ally.
Clearly not enjoying this novel as much as the previous ones because of the stupidity at play here, but like an addict, I can't put the novel down. I can only express my unhappiness and hope that the author gets some better beta readers and editors.
Midnight With the Billionaire Boys Club: Billionaire Romance Series Book 12 is by Cara Miller. My goodness this is the best of the series yet. Have a box of tissues on hand though as you will definitely need them. Emotions run high in this book. Lisa Olsen finally made her move and tried to pay Kelsey ten million dollars to break up with Tyler. She had found out about Kelsey’s criminal record and that gave her the basis on which to face Kelsey. Kelsey wondered what Tyler would think about it; but she didn’t ask him. She wasn’t going to come between Tyler and his Mother. Kelsey had always known that her background would come back to haunt her even though it was supposedly expunged. She isn’t sure what she is going to do. Right now, she has to finish her classes and head out for spring break with Tyler. First, she and Tyler went to San Francisco for a short break. It was wonderful to have time alone with Tyler and no worries. However, they did have Tyler’s bodyguard, Jade, to step in as a chaperone in their suite on their last night. Their will to stay apart was fraying. After this wonderful trip things began to fall apart. The lawyers who recommended her for the bar pulled their recommendations, her job at Collins Nicol fell through, and now she had to go home to Port Townsend. What else could go wrong? Plenty!
This is definitely the best book of the series so far!
Lisa is absolutely horrible. I can’t believe she would stab her son in the back all because of her experience with her ex, which will find out who it is in the book. I sobbed throughout this whole entire book and can’t wait for Tyler and Kelsey to get back together. Their love is awesome.
Romance, Romance, Romance.....reminiscence of Roman Holiday. Simple, Clean, Romance, Intrigue, Character Development, Reality, and the list goes on and on and on!
