What do two porn stars, a pair of psychopathic killers, a cop and three students have in common? Drake Mansion - a creepy, occult-ridden estate owned by Ellis Drake. Ellis has a deep interest in the supernatural and collects magical paraphernalia and relics, which adorn every room in his manor. Ellis tries his own hand at magic, and ends up with two overly inflated testes. As you may have guessed, this is not your run of the mill haunted house story. While Ellis is away, his housekeeper plays. Her plan of casting her own jealous spell is foiled when she meets the murderous and completely merciless Cutter and Peaches. Blood is spilled, a curse is cast, and a monster comes to life. All fear the Schoolmaster. His plan is to put everyone in Detention, where every test takes a life in the most heinous of ways. The class - porn stars Tanya and Chad, detective Tanya Rockford, and actual students Mike, Jordan and Sherri - find their way to the mansion during a sudden, violent storm. Of course they all enter. It's a horror story. School is now in session. All six students must try to survive the exams given by the vicious and malevolent Schoolmaster and his new assistant, Peaches Principal (yes, that is her last name, much to the delight of the Schoolmaster). What will the students encounter? What will they be forced to do? Reader, you have a decision to make. What is to follow (and some of what has already occurred) is hardcore. There is extreme violence, graphic sexual situations, and bad language. Oh, yeah. It goes there. Those of you strong enough to survive the triple X rating will be delighted and entertained. And that ending...
Reading the synopsis for Hell Dancer, I really wasn’t sure what I should expect. The only thing that I did figure on was that this author was going to offer up a story unlike any that I’ve ever read, along with a great deal of shock value. In that respect, Wol-vriey did not disappoint.
Let’s be honest, Hell Dancer is not going to be an academic treasure for generations of scholars. It was never meant to be that; it is an in your face (or any orifice that presents itself), rock ‘em, shock ‘em book that will leave you wondering, “What the devil was that?!” So, that is the approach that I have decided to take in my review.
Wol-vriey has packed a solid group of characters into Hell Dancer. Some we get to know better than others. Predictably, most of the cast is one dimensional with very little character development. What these characters really had going for them was a high concentration of corn. That’s right, I liked the corn in Hell Dancer. Chad Cannon, Venus Deluxe, best friends, Mike and Jordan, and I cannot forget, no matter how hard I try, the infamous KY. I have to give credit, Wol-vriey has put together a perfect cast.
Now, the plot. Wol-vriey has developed an elaborate world; many of the parts are over-the-top, but I don’t think that it could have been accomplished any other way. As outrageous as the scenes were, everything worked and was tightly pulled together, while thrusting the action forward.
In the end, Hell Dancer far exceeded my expectations. The climax was completely satisfying. There were some proofing issues that could be easily fixed, as they were only a minor distraction. Now for the real question, “Would I read another Wol-vriey book in the future?” Yes. Yes I would. It just needs to be the right place at the right time.
A book that people should check out by Wol-vriey, I had the honor of reading it this week, when he asked if I would be interested in Reading it and giving a rating. Now I've gone and downloaded Big Trouble In Little Ass, as I like Hell Dancer. I'm going to keep my eye out on his other books.
Yes another great read from Mr Wol-vriey . Full of massacre and blood cuddling horror, with voodoo and occult and then the characters that differ fro. Serial killers to open stars. Explicit sexual scenes mixed in to add to the whole scene. A gripping story that keeps you entertained from the first page. A definite recommendation to anyone that loves the more extreme storyline.
I was asked by Wol-vriey if I would like to read and review Hell Dancer.Hell Dancer has a lot of your typical slasher film scenes. If you like horror scenes without to many gory details then I recommend this book for you there is one sexual scene in this book that you probably don't need to read if you have a weak stomach. My favorite characters were absolutely Cutter and Peaches because they remind me of the film Natural Born Killers.I gave Hell Dancer three stars because I like the character background stories more then the story as a whole but overall it was a interesting book.
Almighty God’s looking the other way, ‘Cos you’re his damned sheep that wandered astray.
With the luck of the devil bringing them together, eighteen years old Pamela “Peaches” Principle and her older boyfriend Joel “Cutter” Miller, found an odd desire to murder and torture other people, deriving a sexual high from the shared experiences. After leaving home at fourteen after her father finally crawled into bed with her, she fled to the streets around New York and Massachusetts where she settled into growing up on the streets, where prostitution and drugs ran rampant through every street and vein. After a John got particularly brutal with his fists to her after she failed to pit pocket him, Cutter cane to her aid and murdered the man. Now, the two falling endlessly into a psychotic love affair, they would become infamous in the brutal and high standing body count left in their wake. For Police Detective Tanya Rockford, life was seemingly dropping down into the bottom following her shooting and slaying a young teen, Josh Milton, she needed a break to save her career and her reputation. Put onto the case of the two murderers, seemed to be the luck she finally needed, but it would take her far beyond what she ever thought possible. Porno actors Venus Deluxe and Chad Cannon found themselves strung out and high off cocaine when the freak storm sent them scattering down a desolate path into the woods. As they found their way to the mansion hidden deep into the woods, a feeling of terror gripped onto their souls as the evil resonated from within those walls. Tanya was mystified by the hundred mile an hour winds and rain that dampened everything around her vehicle. Forced to pull over, she allowed some lost college students shelter in her car. Seated around her they ranged from twenty one to twenty two; Sherrelle “Sherry” Jackson, Jordan Levine, and Michael “Mike” Myers. They too found the allure of the mansion and with their feet crossing the threshold would lock themselves in Detention, A place that harbored on the brinks of Hell.
“Everyone deserves punishment. They simply don’t know it.”
Yet before any of these “students” stumbled upon the mysterious mansion deep in the woods, Cutter and Peaches found it by Sheer luck, where they butchered the occupants inside. The Housekeeper Miranda Salecd0 and her girlfriend Sandra “Sandy” Baker has been in the middle of an intense sexual experience together when they were brutally murdered. Watching her lover die, Miranda recounted an old evil spell, which brought the statue of the School Master to life, landing Cutter and Peaches in Detention where they quickly met their matches. Now as everyone who stumbled into the old mansion died horribly, Peaches found herself reanimated and server the School Master in his crimes of punishment. Each student earned demerits in their records and were out to many grueling test leaving the loser dead. As Tanya and avenues found themselves the last standing, they weee cursed by Venus’s period which shrunk them to big sizes. As fellow pornstars Ky and Evan stood outside the mansion, Tanya and Venus stumbled outside, shrunk to tiny sizes before being stomped and smashed. Now with the world of secrets locked in Ky’s head, she was admitted to a south ward for eight months with the truth of her discovery forever haunting her.
I agreed to read and review ‘Hell Dancer’ for the author, Wol-vriey.
In ‘Hell Dancer’, two sociopaths Cutter and Peaches are on the run from the police. However, that does not deter these lovers from brutally torturing and murdering people. Meanwhile, Detective Tanya Rockford is hot on their trails. When Cutter and Peaches wind up at a secluded, menacing mansion, all hell breaks loose as once you’re in detention, you can never get out.
From the beginning, I found the story to be intensely gripping as the author wasted no time in providing ample details about the creepy mansion and its eccentric occupants. As a result, there was a strong sense of impending doom thus I was eagerly anticipating the moment where all the characters would find themselves trapped in the mansion. It took some time to get to that point but it was mostly worth the wait. The writing style was appealing for the most part as it was descriptive yet straight to the point whenever necessary. However, I noticed several grammatical errors throughout the book. They didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the story though.
The characters weren’t particularly fleshed out but there was some background information on a few of them. Cutter and Peaches were definitely the most memorable because they were evil personified. It was hard not to feel incredibly disgusted reading about how much they actually enjoyed hurting people as well as getting turned on by watching the pain they’ve inflicted upon others. Needless to say, there were tons of gore in the entire story – certainly not ideal for the fainthearted. It was disturbing at first but the excessive amount ended up having a numbing effect on me.
As heartless as it sounds, I didn’t quite care about whether the other characters - Detective Tanya, Venus and Chad (porn stars) as well as Sherri, Jordan and Mike (students) would manage to escape from the demonic Headmaster’s detention. The only one I might have remotely cared about was Tanya simply because she seemed like the only decent character. Plus, she had gone there for a purpose (to capture Cutter and Peaches) and her determination to succeed was admirable. The students were bland and one-dimensional while the porn stars were terribly dumb and way too reliant on everyone else.
The first half or so of the book was fast-paced and exciting but the whole detention thing only became hilarious the more I read. It was hard to take it seriously. One moment they’re all scared and fighting for their lives; next they’re making out with each other and even falling for each other. Unconvincing on every level. The good thing though was how unpredictable everything was. Plus, all the deaths were horrifying and bloodcurdling. Unfortunately, I felt that the abundance of sexual content overshadowed the possibility of truly spine-chilling horror that this book otherwise could have delivered.
Anyhow, I liked the ending which was quite fitting for this story. Overall, ‘Hell Dancer’ was an entertaining, morbid read which was jam-packed with a combination of bloodbath and sex. A couple of scenes would definitely stay with you long after you’ve finished this book.
Hell could be an understatement This story starts out strong and does not let up: no dull moments, top notch excitement and epic horror! First we learn a little bit about the Drake Mansion, it’s history and owners, including the current owner: Ellis Drake. Then we are thrown into the world of Cutter and Peaches, extreme psychopaths and serial killers out on an adventure. We also meet Tanya, a Boson cop, on the lookout for Cutter and Peaches but with her own issues also. Then we meet Chad, Venus, and some of their friends in the porn industry. Just to get all the main characters introduced, there is also Sherry, Mike and Jordan college kids on a journey who get caught up in a storm and picked up by Tanya. OK, still with me? At some point, each of these characters will end up at Drake Mansion where all Hell breaks loose times infinity! Some black magic along with the always horrific human nature take place at the mansion and something is awoken that most definitely should have stayed asleep. Find out the who, what, when, where’s and whys for yourself, this is a fans of modern horror must read! This was an edge of your seat thrill ride with violence, horror, gore, sex, the supernatural, and pure evil humans. I highly recommend to all fans of modern horror and cannot wait to check out more by this ‘new to me’ author. Thanks for the awful visions and nightmares!
As a began reading this book, I became thoroughly engrossed in the serial killer couple and thought wow what a grotesquely fantastic start. From the beginning there was violence and gore, tortuous hate filled the pages. I was absolutely enthralled! It was just the hook the book needed.
As the story continues, we meet porn stars who after a night of partying become lost and inevitably find themselves inside a creepy mansion. The rough detective Tanya, who is right on the serial killers tail, finds herself inside the same creepy mansion.
This is where the book takes a complete turn and dives into a supernatural hell dimension. "Detention" is a place that I hope to never find myself. The characters were great and the story line was nothing like I had envisioned by reading the synopsis.
This book is heinous, gory, filled with lots of sex and not just vanilla sex, there are porn stars starring in this book after all. This book crosses so many lines and barriers from the norm and I absolutely loved it. This was so unique, I have never read anything quite like it and will definitely read more from this author.
This novel is thinly plotted Torture Porn. All scenes involve either torture/ graphic murder, graphic sex of various kinky varieties, urination, defecation or a combination of any and all of these.
Most of the characters manage to be porn stars or serial killers, all of whom have sexually degrading episodes from their past that get used to fill the pages between almost plot-relevant scenes of equally degrading torture porn. The few other characters are not left likable either in that they have no backstory or development or no redeeming qualities. One's meant to like the police officer who apparently thinks it was okay to punish her husband for masturbating by anally raping him with a nightstick in a non-consensual way. This, described graphically multiplied by all scenes of the book = Hell Dancer.
Lovecraftian elements are window dressing, ultimately not building any true sense of a multi-dimensional world of horror.
3 1/2 stars. I was provided this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I would consider this a horror porn novel with a supernatural flair. It is a triple X so you have been warned. The book starts out strong with Cutter and Peaches, two sociopaths who love to kill in very nasty ways. We pick up Tanya, a detective on Cutter and Peaches trail, and Venus and Chad, porn stars who become lost and 'led' by a magical storm to a specific destination. Once all the players are in place,(a malignant mansion filled with an abundance of occult material) the supernatural part comes into play. I agree with a previous reviewer that it starts out fast paced but once you reach 'Detention' it lags. A very different style of book for me, but I wish the author all the best and if this review has intrigued you then take a walk on the wild side and buy this book!
Ok. This book had a good idea but it was personally a bit too much in the graphic sex department. Some of the characters were well fleshed out and others had next to no background. The adult film characters had deeper backgrounds then the college students or the police officer. The serial killer duo were fairly entertaining and I wish they stuck around more. I also felt that the detention should of had more students. As a book it felt kind of flat. But I could see it working better for a movie. No offense to the writer. It just was not my cup of tea.
I left my comfort zone in sticking with writers I know because I never considered anyone new nor tried. I got Hell Dancer by Wol-Vriey and so glad I did because it's been so long since I felt disturbed, disgusted, thrilled, scared and tense all at one time. I loved it! Thank you Mr. Wol-vriey for taking me away from the "comfort zone" I've been stuck in. This was for me one of the best decisions I have made and I have your great novel and your story telling to thank for it. I suggest you readers do the same and be surprised as I was with Hell Dancer. Well done sir. :)
Really enjoyed this book, read it in day...lots of characters with bad intentions a few you would like to see come out of this okay. the setting is highly unusual to say the least. not for the squeamish...some of the scenes depicted reminded me of early Edward Lee and as violent as Bryan Smith. so many unsavory characters in one place, but the author does a good job making them human, there is good in everyone sometimes it's just the circumstances your in that forces us to be as we are. if you like your reading hardcore and unapologetic than I would certainly give this book a read.
The author was kind enough to offer this book for me to read and review!
I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started this book but it was a crazy ride! Not really my cup of tea and I like crazy, blood and carnage and sex in my books as much as the next person, but some how it just wasn't my kinda liking in this one. the characters were interesting but I didn't really like them. I always like a character I can feel for and root for but not in this one. The imagery and setting was great and the gore in some parts. It was a twisted book and I did enjoy it, but not a favorite.
Wow what a book! It was so vibrant that it leapt of the page and felt visual. It felt like a slasher movie crossed with a hocus pocus spooky movie. I'm used to some pretty hard core horror, and don't scare easily, but it did creep me out. The characters were a great mix and I was pleased to see that the author didn't rely on having a character that everyone else hates in order to start the killing spree. It's always so obvious when authors do that; it insults the reader.
This is the first book that I have read by Wol-vriey, but it will not be my last. This book has everything that I enjoy in a horror novel, sex, drugs, and splatter!!! It had a lot of twists and turns, and kept me guessing the whole time! I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to reading more from this author!!
