How do you walk with your children during times of struggle and crisis? Do you feel as if nothing you do will be enough? Where do you find peace?
In this heartfelt book for moms who struggle to guide children through the various stages of their lives, Catholic speaker and teacher Judy Landrieu Klein shows how her own crisis of faith helped her release her children to the care of the Blessed Mother. In doing so, Klein shows you how to find the love, joy, and peace of Our Lord as you surrender your will to him.
Judy Landrieu Klein struggled with her faith as she lived through her son's near-fatal addiction to drugs and her daughter's painful anxiety. She discovered she couldn't handle the relentless pressure of life not measuring up to her expectations and it was eating away at her family.
Klein considered Mary's reaction to the events in the life of Jesus. She meditated on Mary's fiat and her prayer of total surrender to God's will and saw how this act of obedience carried on throughout Mary's life as she witnessed the life of her son. As Klein focused on her devotion to the Blessed Mother, her life and faith were transformed.
In Mary's Way, Klein reflects on the Annunciation and describes her own to struggle to embrace the will of God by surrendering control of her family planning. She meditates on Mary's powerlessness during the Crucifixion, finding a place of calming surrender during her own son's escalating battle with addiction.
Klein shows how you can become a more powerful intercessor for yourself and your children. When you finish reading this book, you'll find yourself turning to Mary and surrendering yourself and your children more fully to God.
Mary's Way: The Power of Entrusting Your Child to God is both a testament to perseverance and a guide to surrender. Judy Klein shares her own heartbreaks as a mother, tracing her journey as a parent and a Catholic. But this book is more than a memoir: it's a call to a very specific kind of prayer by mothers for their own children.
Such an inspirational book. I highlighted so many chapters; I found so many words that spoke to me. I would love to hear Judy speak. So many of us believe that if we pray hard enough and attend services devoutly and are good people, we will not suffer in this world. Judy illustrates in this book that not only is that utterly wrong, but that suffering can and will be what brings us closer to God. That it is through our suffering (the carrying of our crosses) that we draw closer to God. Reading this book has been a turning point for me - a turning towards a deeper faith.
This is an excellent book for all mothers. It definitely made me ponder on many occasions that I have failed at placing my children in God's hands. It challenged me to continue that relationship with Mary and to have the certainty that she will always intercede for me.
I liked the writing and the author has an inspirational personal story. That said, I think the audience is better suited for mothers of late teens or grown children. As a mother of three under six, this felt like a book that I’d better appreciate when they’re more autonomous.
When a friend gave me this book to read, I was confused since I don't have any children. I quickly saw that any woman, with or without children can benefit from this book. Klein's testimony is powerful and beautiful and raw. I'm very glad I read this.
