This is a terrific adventure novel. The book contains three novellas that are decidedly intertwined. Each episode brings the hero, Peter (The Brazen) Moore, deeper into mystery and doom. Peter is a wireless operator—the best in Asia—who, through his chivalric actions bring him to the attention of The Gray Dragon (the title in the next book). The Gray Dragon is a despot with his own city—The City of Stolen Lives. The people that dwell there are all slaves. The GD also runs an operation bringing beautiful women to him to add to his harem. These girls and women are kidnapped by his minions.
From that point on it is multiple homicides, knives in the dark and assassins in each doorway.

These stories appeared in Argosy Magazine in the early 1930s. This is the first publication that brings all three back to print after almost 100 years.
