Throughout the years, civilizations have been plagued with the concept of alien life-forms visiting our planet. What if this hypothesis was true? "Emutate," shows putatively how aliens from an unknown galaxy tumbled unto our planet hundreds of years ago and fused within our human culture. The alien beings masquerade as a major conglomerate known as Search International in Kor City, Colorado. The company has a voracious appetite for humankind. While framing pearly smiles and special eating habits by metabolic function, Search International busies itself in mastering the posture and communication of humans for the inevitable.

Emutate was a shocking, futuristic look at what could / might / would happen on earth when the planet is infiltrated by flesh-eating aliens. The aliens operate in subtle ways so they can slowly take over the government and stay under the radar of the authorities. The story is comprised of relatively short vignettes about and from the point of view of different humans, aliens and supposed humans who are really aliens. Some characters, especially the more evil or gruesome characters, stood out in my mind and were easy to track as the story progressed, but others were confusing and blurred together at times. Thankfully, the humans were inventive and fought back in smarter and more effective ways as time went by. To find out who ultimately wins, you'll have to read the story... if you dare.
