Marriage is the beautiful institution designed to reflect Christ and His bride, the Church. And within this covenant there is one who holds a position of intricate worth and power.
Her strength is quiet and gentle. She gathers grace and sprinkles it lavishly upon those around her. She collects pieces of sad and weary hearts, salves them with kindness and washes them with comfort. Her presence is a joy, her words are wise, her life, although difficult, is like a well-watered garden, peaceful and vibrant.
She is called wife.
Her power is love, founded and replenished in the One who created her. He invites her to partake of His love, then enables her to live moment by moment through its power. As she leans fully upon Him, she knows He will never let her down; He will never leave nor forsake her.
She knows her Father and He knows her.

DNF. While the content is decent, I was expecting a prayer journal to guide me to be a better, more supportive wife, but instead the focus was all about the husband, kinda interceding to God on the husband's behalf. Yes, praying for husbands is good, but it left me feeling helpless, as if there was a burdon on the husbands shoulders as provider that I could not share. Summary: it is a decent guide for prayers about husbands, but was lacking in practical personal development (which is what I was looking for)
This book covers forty areas we must pray about in our husbands' lives, many of them being areas we don't often think of, such as victory over the past, plus additional tips and scripture verses, prayers to get the ball rolling, fasting challenges and prompts to write your own prayers. Another great thing about this book is that it not only focuses on praying for our husbands but for ourselves as well. Many of us, whether we care to admit or not, sometimes find ourselves praying for God to change some aspect of our partners so that it better suits us when we should really be praying for God to form them into who He has called them to be while at the same time praying for us to be formed to what He wants or has called us to be. It's for us to support our husbands. I love this book and would definitely recommend it to women who are married and even those who are preparing for marriage! I will definitely purchase the hardcopy of this book.
This was a really worthwhile book with great prayers. She applied scriptures to prayers in ways that I have never thought to do and did an excellent job of having a well rounded approach to prayer for your husband. I have recommended it to several people. They only negative comment I have is that there is a typo in almost everyday, mostly basic stuff that a good editor should have corrected. After reading this I have purchased several more books by her on prayer.
I loved reading and praying through this book. I will probably go back and use it over and over again, maybe without fasting all year round, but there is so much wisdom and guided prayer deeply rooted in scripture. My only issue is a few editorial mistakes, like some passages the reference is off by a chapter, but otherwise it's a very practical helpful book. (Posting as my husband because we share one account).
This novel, like so many others, has failed to grab and captivate my attention. There are many different times that I can pick up a novel and cannot finish it at that time; however, I might be able to return to it at a later date. This is one of those, who knows, maybe next time it will be a game changer.
I loved this book because it challenged me in humility. Praying for another deepened my faith in God. I would recommend this book not only for wives but also those for women who are not yet wives.
First... I did not do the fasting... If I had, this may have been a 5-star review. That said, this was a very helpful prayer guide, soaked in Scripture. I will be returning to my highlights on this one in the future!
This book is like having a wonderful best friend weathering the storms of marriage with you!
Kaylene is amazing at writing scripture based prayers that get to the heart of relationship challenges. She always inspires me to lean in to God's strength.
I came across this book after reading other prayer books by the same author, which inspired me to start daily prayers for my husband. While I value the daily prayers for husbands in this book, I expected it to delve more into how wives can pray for the Lord to shape and nurture our own hearts. It predominantly focused on husbands without addressing our own hearts and minds. Only the first two days discussed how we can improve as the Lord’s daughters and our husbands' wives. I found the authors honesty and humility in those early chapters powerful, resonating with my struggles, such as pride and embracing humility. The first three chapters were incredibly profound, touching not only on ourselves but also on our marriages with God’s word.
While the author's devotionals are impactful, the prayer sections disappoint me because they consistently target husbands' mistakes and trials instead of addressing our own. I anticipated the book would center on a wife's spiritual growth or the marriage as a whole. Although praying for one's husband is beautiful and should be done daily, I wish there was a balance to help us wives grow with the Lord through these prayers too.
My favorite day was Day 20 about humility. I've been wrestling with my pride, and I pray for strength and wisdom to overcome that sin. I appreciated how the author wrote about choosing our response path when we make mistakes, through prayer, encouraging repentance, and seeking discernment. Although Day 20 ended with a prayer for teaching our husbands humility, I wished for a similar prayer for myself.
Despite the imbalance mentioned earlier, I believe this book is still a good read, especially during times of fasting. While reading some of the prayers, I adapt them to focus on areas I personally need to work on to please the Lord. At times, I combine prayers for both myself and my husband, turning it into a joint effort to improve together.
Such a great resource and reminder of God’s word. The practical application and guided prayer is so helpful for when we are living the moments when we can’t find the words ourselves. Thank you so much for the time and dedication to write this book!
I pray every wife who is going through a lot can get to read this book, I pray that this continues to help a lot of women around the world who need help in Christ
I would recommend this study to any Christian wife. It is one I will be returning to on a regular basis to pray the 40 prayers over my husband and myself.
