Mounted: Book 5 in the Agent Rawlings Series of FBI Thrillers
When a package containing macabre photos of four dead women is mailed to a Louisville newspaper, the Manassas FBI office is called upon. Agents Hank Rawlings and Beth Harper are immediately dispatched to the scene.
The man responsible for the murders, along with horrific acts upon the remains, has referred to himself as The Sportsman. A letter included with the photos pledges more killings to come.
In Louisville, Hank and Beth work diligently to track down every hint of a lead. However, with each new piece of evidence uncovered, the investigation only raises more questions—questions they simply don’t have answers to.
For the killer, the dead women, as well as his tinkering with their remains, was merely preparation for a larger goal—something he’d promised someone years before.

From the start this book extremely gross and very scary. It's not for everyone, be advised. Also for those in the work force, remember in search to get ahead do not step on anybody.
As usual the author is obsessed with gore and is entirely too graphic for leisure reading. Also Rhinehart’s style is to give too many tiresome details which do not apply to or advance the story. Why does the reader have to know every minute detail about the decor of every hotel room in which Rawlings stays? Or the name of every intersection on the GPS?! It’s as though the author has to augment his word use because the story is too short to meet the minimum word requirement. Th main characters are good and likable- very little profanity and a steady moral compass - a great strength in my opinion. The story is interesting but the reader has to skim or skip over a third of the book because it is unnecessary filler. Every book follows the same formula and the same aggravating lack of skilled writing.
My favorite. I've enjoyed the other books, in the series, but not this one. As a few of the other reviewers said, it was too gory! Just the description, from the police and the FBI perspective. When the killer starts talking and talking to his victims, telling them how he's going to kill them, I felt sick! I had to pass over those parts. I also felt this book had way too many details, about everything going on. Like, the phone rang and he picked it up and talked. Every little detail was described. Some of that is already implied. I think our intelligence tells us. It was interesting how they went from having no information, to solving the case. So much tedious, time consuming work.
I think I am a bit burned out of Agent Rawlings. It took me FOREVER to finish this one. I'm not sure why, it was paced just like the previous 4, we had the same characters with too much of Beth's ex husband. I may need to wait a bit before reading #6. I will read it to see how Hank and Karen do with growing their marriage.
This is the second time I have read this book and it is just as interesting and hard to put down (or turn off the iPad) as the first time. Hank seems so much more in tune with the whole ‘detecting thing’ than all the characters he joins in other cities and his partner as well.
Another action packed crime novel featuring two FBI serial killer specialists. Young women are missing and now the killer is taking credit. Resolved by these 2 with the help of locals.
E.H. Reinhard does a masterful job developing good, strong characters and has a phenomenal story arc with these Agent Hank Rawlings books. Start with #1 so you can see first-hand how Hank grows as a field agent and person . . . .
The book, like all others in the series, was a fast, enjoyable read. I really like the main characters and how their background stories continue to evolve. The end was disappointing, considering the purpose behind the suspect's revenge.
This was a suspenseful and disturbing story that's not for the faint of heart. It's not a story that thriller lovers will want to miss. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
Girls gone missing with their cars later found, windows down. With multiple cases stacking up, Hank is on the case to figure out why the girls are coming up missing.
Another very strong effort from author E.H. Reinhard in his Hank Rawlings series. Entitled "Mounted", this yarn is a very gritty suspense thriller. This fifth book in this excellent series takes place in Louisville, Kentucky where a gruesome serial killer taunts the PD as he seems to be killing at will. The PD is overwhelmed and needs the help of the FBI and their resources. FBI agent Hank Rawlings and partner Beth Harper travel to Louisville to help the local PD track "The Sportsman". This serial killer has sent the police a package with sets of photos of what he does to his victims step by step. With four victims to date and two other women missing this case gets the highest priority. His name is William Allen David, and he has an ax to grind with single successful women. David seriously tortures his victims for hours before he "Mounts" them in his own sick way. Rawlings and Harper doggedly track down every small lead possible to find this killer. With this Rawlings series, author E.H. Reinhard has created some creative and brilliant characters that are enjoyable to follow and root for. At a lightning pace just over 230 pages, I read this book in just a couple sittings. I've found almost all of E.H. Reinhard's books incredibly difficult to put down once the story starts rolling from page 1. Five stars out of a possible five stars for E.H. Reinhard's, "Mounted", a top notch suspense thriller. Do not miss this series. Also Reinhard's Carl Kane series is just as excellent.
Once again the author develops a plot that draws you in and makes you squirm. Enjoy the professional growth of Hank's character blossoming but still find his relationship with his wife asking for more. Similarly, Beth's personal life is not believable and her inability to deal with her ex leaves one shaking their head.
Wow, this killer is seriously messed up. I know there are some really bad people out there, and I can honestly say, I'm super glad I don't know anyone who would do these types of things to others.
This is another excellent addition to this authors collection.
Graphic details are too much for me. Have been reading crime novels for decades and cannot stomach the horrific details in this book. They do nothing to enhance e the story in my opinion. Will never read anything by this author again
