The devilishly funny companion series to the acclaimed manga, Love in Hell!
Utsunomiya Sousuke is dead. But his new life is about to begin...in Hell! Upon awakening in the Afterlife, Sousuke meets his painfully sexy devil guide Sanagi, who may be short of stature, but packs an all-powerful punch. Like Rintaro before him, can the hopelessly irreverent Sousuke repent from his sins, or is he fated to be forever tortured and teased by a gorgeous demonic temptress?
The sequel to Love in Hell, this 2 part series also seems to have been ended early, which is sad. I think it would have really benefited from having just one more volume like its predecessor did. Nevertheless, it is an enjoyable read and the author once again shows that his is capable of wrapping up a story in a pinch.
It's nice the lore doesn't have to get reestablished but the pacing is kinda all over the place and the balance of fan service and gore is leaning heavier in one direction in my opinion where as I'd prefer a balance.
Before picking up this book (or the original series of Love in Hell) I should warn everyone showing an interest that this book is not for the faint of heart. Just in this book you will experience limited nudity, excessive violence and gore, and some sexual content so if these things bother you then please stop here for Hell is not always a pretty place and it is where the story plays out in.
With the warning out of the way the story has basically rebooted with the conclusion of the previous Love in Hell series with a new Sinner (called Sousuke Utsunomiya) and a new handler demon (Sanagi) who although short in stature is a natural at torture. Now Sousuke must make amends for his sins in Life while learning some moral lessons on the way (or at least how not to be as big of a wuss.) With a cast of demons and sinners in this wide world you are sure to experience many different personalities and enjoy or suffer through the trials as everyone learns.
My favorite part of the book would have to be when Sousuke first gets to hell and picks on Sanagi for her height and she takes swift actions to adjust his beliefs. :)
