After almost six months, twenty year-old Paula is still reeling from the tragic death of her adoptive parents. Beckoned by the sealed envelope containing her birth mother's contact information, Paula takes a step of faith and opens up her world in a way she never could have imagined... Following a charming first meeting with her birth mother's family, Paula Dickson finds herself as a month-long houseguest and temporary nanny for her six year-old half brother and reluctantly falling for the Becketts' attractive neighbor. As the relationships she forms shine tiny pieces of light into her dark world, and a secret from the past threatens to dissolve one of them, Paula seeks to discover if the God she feels let her down in the worst way possible is still good.

I really enjoyed this book. It was nice that Paula was able to meet her biological mom. They hit off really great. Her husband and child came to love her right away. The only drama there was was between her and Jackson. Thankfully everything worked out for them in the end.

Fireflies took me back to my own teenage/collage years with characters that reflected people I had known in my own experience-allowing a deeper understanding of their perspectives, motivations, and complexities.
With just enough detail to paint a vivid and colorful setting, Paula, Olivia and the other characters step into relationships with each other as vulnerable, sometimes uncertain, and equally flawed humans who are being woven together into a strong fabric by God's unending mercy and love.

I finished this on one cozy Sunday afternoon, and truly enjoyed the nostalgic and hopeful tone this book held for me as I read! A recommend for sure!

What an incredible read! My biggest criticism is there isn't a sequel. The author has us follow Paula through tough loss right in the beginning of the book. This loss sends Paula adrift in her life but the season of renewal and healing that comes is wonderful. I highly recommend this book! While it may seem some of the plot twists are a little to convenient, this charming and heartfelt story will capture you. Now we just need a sequel!

Not just a summer read.

There are some great lessons in this book. It's an interesting storyline. I found it humorous in some places mixed with sweet modern day parables. The characters were likeable. Stephanie was my favorite, I hope she gets her own story. (Hint, hint)

Sweet story

The characters are relatable. The story catches the readers attention, and keeps it throughout the story. As you read through Paula's story it catches your emotions right alongside hers.

Lovely lovely story

This book was an absolute delight. The main character was so vividly described that I felt like I knew her. The story of her heartbreak and the subsequent events that led her to healing and love was extremely well developed. Highly suggest reading it.
