Centuries ago, Garth awoke in the center of a mystical stone henge in the Scottish Highlands with no memories. A dragon shifter, Lachlan, and wolf shifter, Leslie, rescue Garth and take him to Castle MacWulver. The castle is the home of Clan MacWulver - a group of demon shifters blending in with human society while trying to find their fated Judge, a very special human with a pure heart and soul whose love has the power to redeem a demon of their sins.
A mad scientist and veterinarian who is afraid to love…
Sasha Robinovitch doesn’t like humans, but loves her genetically engineered monster pets. One day, after pulling an all-nighter, Sasha has a candy craving, and decides to go to a candy shop named Helltastic Confectionary. There she meets the owner Garth Mackenzie. He’s a giant of a man at six-eight with bulging muscles and an intense golden stare. Terrified of his thuggish appearance, Sasha tries to flee but when she unexpectedly hears his thoughts in her mind she discovers he’s not so scary after all.
Will an unexpected friendship blossom into true love?
Garth sells candy during the day as he reluctantly tries to find his fated Judge. At night he participates in matches hosted by illegal, underground fight clubs while trying to discover the whereabouts of his Archenemy the Red Priest. Centuries ago, the priest defeated Clan MacWulver and trapped the shifters in their animal forms using powerful Druidic magic. Ever since Garth’s people have been forced to fight sword-wielding Battle Priests and Battle Nuns in matches where rich, masked humans bet on the outcome of those fights.

"Highlander Hellcat" by Kurokoneko Kamen
My Thoughts.....
I will say it took me a minute to get into this read but after continuing on I will say I did enjoy it this paranormal read that dealt with 'Scottish Demons and Devils.' This novel has a lots of characters from Garth, Gabriel, Leslie, Lachlan, Magnus, Sasha, Dominic, Slaine, Urel, Dracula, Roy Kirstin, Muireall, Charming, Danny, Derek, Rebecca, Lazar, Mrs. Banks, Becca, Agent Jay Darkhurt, James, Erika to Issy...and I am sure I have out a few that will definitely keep you turning the pages to see how this author presents this 'Highlander' story so well to the reader. I will end saying the reader will be left wanting much more of this action packed story. I guess we will have to get this next novel 'Highlander Hellcat Revolution' to see how the rest of this story will turn out for Garth and Sasha.
I listened to this as an audiobook. Having not read the author's books before, I didn't realize they are anime/manga in style. Once I realized that, the books were more enjoyable. It seemed that this book is part of a larger universe and that must have been some earlier books that introduced other characters. While I felt that I was missing some history with those characters, the universe was explained pretty well within this book.
The story follows a demon--a shifter who was one of the angels banished to hell for siding with Lucifer. He has now been offered a second chance and is on Earth in human form looking for a mortal woman whose love will be his salvation. When he finally meets her, he doesn't realize she's the one, despite some pretty strong hints. But then, he's focused on another issue. That issue sends him to participate in underground fights during which he asks the other fighters where he can find a certain enemy. I thought his methods left a lot to be desired, but they do fit a manga-style story pretty well. While this was a story without illustrations, it was simplified in the way an illustrated book needs to be.
There were a few discontinuities. A couple of times the same information was presented a second time as though it was new. Once or twice events conflicted with earlier events or information. It seemed like the story was written in serial format, and that would explain some of the issues. For a while I was concerned because Garth was focused on a woman who appeared briefly to him several hundred years ago, but later in the story he does recognize that fact. My main concern was that the book ends before the story is over. It's isn't quite a cliffhanger, but things are far from resolved. Given it's length, I had expected the story to be completed.
The narrator was okay. He had a Scottish accent, which fit the hero's past and the many flashbacks. His reading of the narrative between conversations was pretty flat. His narration of conversation was better, but often lacked the intensity of response (including humor, sarcasm, anger, etc.) appropriate to the scene. A few times words were mispronounced. And his American accents were not all that good. Individual characters were not readily recognizable by voice, but were usually identified by the text, so that wasn't a big problem. All that being said, he spoke clearly and whistles were included when in the story.
I received the audiobook as a gift from the author -- few of her books have been recorded as yet.
Have it in Audio This is the second listen i did from the author. Love the paranormal. And this author has an imagination. Think everyone should try it out ./ it takes place in Scotland. The hell cat has been below but he has one chance of being freed . He has to do an assignment to get that freedom. While doing his assignment he meets his mate. He has to convince her to trust him
The narrator was okay. First time I listened to his voice. He was okay not the greatest though but okay
Then book talks about GOD, Archangels, satan, demons, vampires, Shapeshifters and a whole lot more. So if you are into this, then this is a book you will like.
