Jolene Miller barely escaped the dark underworld of being the president’s daughter of a notorious motorcycle club. After having her heart broken by Ronin, the MC’s Sargent at Arms, she tried to navigate a normal life as an up and coming criminal defense attorney.
When the only family she’s ever known comes under fire, Jolene rushes home to Jericho, California to step in - only to find it’s not just the club who needs her.
Ronin is wanted for murder.
Can Jolene let go of their tortured past in order to save their future?
Kimmie is an International Bestselling author who grew up traveling the country, rarely settling in one place for much longer than a minute. Being no stranger to heartache, she allows her unconventional childhood to fuel her writing.
Kimmie can be found somewhere in the south writing wine worthy stories.
The writing style is very raw and feels real. The constant back and forth between Ronin and Jolene about them "not being together" was started to wear on me. I suspected the real villain from the beginning due to lack of subtlety. The overall feeling of cluelessness is my biggest complaint. You've got a guy who is heart and soul dedicated to his club. Was having a baby with the prez's daughter and when he gets tangled with the law, suddenly he's on the outside looking in and his brothers are keeping him out of the loop and so on...just doesn't ring true of how an MC would respond to a threat. Also, Ronin and Jolene's history is terrible but it's all kind of vague around her leaving. Anyway. This is my opinion for what it's worth. Not a bad MC story but room for improvement definitely. #1 it ends suddenly without a true conclusion. Not really a HFN or technically a cliffhanger. Just stopped like more chapters to follow.
Loved this book..... I wanted to seriously slap the crap out of a few of the characters in it but it was oh so good. Kimmie sucks you in from the beginning.
Jolene and Ronin have a past but they have been brought together once again. Jolene left the MC life & tragedy behind and became a lawyer. Life has been good to her, friends, a job, even a steady guy in her life but there is something missing and Jolene doesnt realize it until she comes back home. But can she help Ronin with the charges hes facing? Can they get back to where they were years before? The sexual tension between these two is smoking hot.
I need more. I know this is not the end of their story and I need more not just of Jolene & Ronin but the other characters as well. I'm in love with this series and the Executioner MC.
I picked up this book specifically to get the “X” for my alphabet reading challenge. I do not read about motorcycle gangs and can’t say that I would again.
Pros:
The writing was really nice. It was easy to follow and the author was very good at slowly building layers to characters which allowed them to feel real.
The connections between characters was well designed so you could be introduced and they were slowly expanded upon as it made sense. Characters weren’t built as filler which I appreciate. Everyone introduced connected to the main problems very clearly.
Cons:
I didn’t care for the attitude towards women or how most seemed to just accept it. I know it is realistic and not a reflection on the writer or story.
The lack of closure for all the problems begun in this book really bothered me but not enough that I will check for more in the series if they exist.

What can I say besides loving mc books, I love books with babies. Although this was sad, it really had me invested in the characters and their outcome. I hate that it was a cliff hanger and hopefully I can read the next book but really enjoyed this. Robin is a big alpha not afraid to love and cry. Jolene is tough when it counts. Hope Jess a turns out good and that Hers gets a story.
I've watched this author grow from the very beginning. Kimmie Easley knocked it out of the park for me with her debut book Souls Set Free (Which is VERY different from this latest one X Marks The Spot) She's taken me on an emotional self discovery journey, turned up the heat in some fast paced exciting novellas, showed us another side in an MMA romance last year, fascinated me with a gritty story in Gutter Princess, and now Ms. Easley has ventured over into some romantic suspense with X Marks The Spot.
I've never read an MC romance before. I didn't know what to expect, but what I found was a fast paced, suspenseful, gritty story. I'll warn you now- this story isn't for everyone. If you're offended by sexual content, violence, cursing, and anything of that nature, this might not be a story for you. But if any of that doesn't bother you, I'm telling you now- grab this book. It blew me away! I loved the suspense. I loved the grittiness. I loved the characters- Well, the good ones, that is.
I was kept on the edge of my seat, wondering who was behind everything. Jolene and Ronin have CHEMISTRY! Whew! And their past breaks my heart. Watching them try to figure out their feelings now took me on a wild ride.
I love that I don't know what to expect next from this author, because she comes out with something different each time, but the effect is the same. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. BRING IT ON!
I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are formed of my own free will, and my opinion is that the author needs to hurry up with the second book like NOW.
Jolene and Ronin have a past, but Jolene ran as far away as she could from the MC life and the sorrow that she suffered because of a great loss. She only comes back when her sister calls with an SOS that their dad needs her help. What she didn't realize is that she was going to come face to face with her past and the person who really needed her help never really left her heart. I enjoyed their story.
Two former lovebirds are brought back together things have remained unresolved when she left. Ronin is being framed for murder and Jolene who's a lawyer is helping to get him off. I like how she described Ronin, man was an adonis, motorcycle riding adonis. I didn't mind this story it's a typically MC story full of drama, boys being boys and women knowing their place. My one gripe sex scene were too short for me, there's a lead up, great tease then bang done, finito. No fore play!!!
Maybe I was warned and didn't pay attention when I bought this book but I didn't realize it ended in a cliffhanger until I read to the very end. Beyond that frustration it's a pretty good book. I didn't pick up on much chemistry between Ronin and Jo until I read Baby X, which is tacked onto the end of this book. It is a good storyline though.
I picked this up as a freebie a while back and it's been hanging out on my kindle waiting to be read. This is the story of Ronin and Jolene and boy did the chapter one grab my attention. Jolene comes off as a strong character from the get go, but when Ronin is thrown in the mix their relationship is intense.
I liked the story, but it ends in a cliffhanger. I was under the impression that each book would be focused on a different character while the Club moved forward, but that is not the case. When the one big situation in this book is resolved we get the cliffhanger to how everyone will move forward, but I looked at book 2 (which I picked up the other day for free) and it still has the same two main characters. I'm holding back my grudge here, because Jo and Ronin's story is definitely unfinished, I just wish there wasn't multiple books for the set of characters.
Edge of your seat. Gripping. Intriguing. Oh my gosh I can't even. This was amazing. I couldn't put it down and felt the emotions throughout. It starts off running and doesn't slow down. The back story bills you up and throws you into the present situation. The authors ability to keep so much cryptic until the end is remarkable. Not only a love story, but throw in a hunky alpha MC, the presidents daughter who's quick in her feet and full of fire and the final result is epic. I have to say I got to the end and was like "WTF I need more" Definitely recommend this to others!!! Kuddos...
Well this is the first book I have read by Kimmie Easley and it was great. So much happening in the story, kept me engaged and wanting to know whst hapoens next? Well I still am wanting to know what happens next, Ihope the next book comes out soon. I off to find out. Meanwhile read this book!
A MC book with romance. What could be better than a tough biker and the girl that holds his heart? A murder case that can put the biker in jail or can a tough attorney from his past might be the key to getting him out.
Really good MC romance story about Ronin and Jolene. Well developed characters and storyline as well as suspenseful and twisted plot. Totally recommend it 🔥😍🔥
Jolene left "The Club" lifestyle a long time ago after tragedy struck, changing her forever. The Club is a Motorcycle club called the Executioners, her father is the president and the members are a family. She has now carved a new life for herself as a lawyer. Until one day she receives a cryptic phone call from her sister who tells her that The Club is in trouble and her Father needs her. Jolene returns only to find out it is not her Father who needs her, but that her first love Ronin (A member of The Club) has been set up and arrested for Murder. Jolene decides to stay and help Ronin. The sexual tension between the two can not be denied, but they both fight their feelings. I loved this book. The characters were great, although some of them I wanted to smack from sun up to sun down. Ruth was AMAZING!! She was Mom and was truly the glue that kept the family together. She was always prepared for anything, a voice of reason among the savage beasts of the family and a great matriarch of sorts. This was high energy and fast paced... started the book to just read a little before bed but ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. I could not stop turning the pages to see what comes next. When I finally realized what the Book title meant...it broke my heart. My only negatives: Ummm CLIFFHANGER and although I am not sure what a true MC club is like, I did not like that the women had their "place" and were referred to as bitches. That is just a independent ME thing. This is the first book I have read by Kimmie Easley and I look forward to reading more!!! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Jolene Miller is trying to leave her past behind her, as well as the family business. She has become a lawyer in San Diego and is involved in a relationship with Brad, a fellow attorney at the company she works for. But when she receives a phone call from her sister, Jessa asking her to come home she finally does so.
Once home she discovers that her childhood love, Ronin Steele has been accused of murder and he claims he is innocent. Will Jolene be able to help him and find out if there is a traitor in among The Executioners, the motorcycle club to which her father is the president and Ronin a member.
I really enjoyed this book and all of the tension among everyone as there was definitely a lack of trust in the club with Ronin being charged with murder. I loved the relationship between Ronin and Jolene as they began to discover what had happened between them and why Jolene disappeared.
I absolutely loved the character of Ruth! She was definitely the one that kept everyone together and grounded. It's still interesting to see how the members "viewed" women, even in this day.
I had a really hard time deciding on a rating for this book, but eventually settled on 3 stars. There's really nothing wrong with the book, it just wasn't something I'd come back to. I thought that it was a little bland for my tastes and had a hard time finding the “thing” that really got me into the book. It's not poorly written, but it's very short, the characters aren't flat, but aren't awe-inspiring either. I think with a little more work and a different ending this could have been a much more engaging story. It has typical MC down to a T. not that really inspires confidence, because that means it's a book about a girl in a club full of misogynistic assholes ... but hey I usually love to read those books, so that's what drew me to it in the first place. If you are looking for a quick light read in the MC genre then this is definitely the book for you, I know it made my evening go a little faster, instead of listening to the small ones' cartoons I got to read about a rekindled romance in the midst of a murder trial, there are worse ways to spend the evening.
Whats Not To Love About A Man In Leather On A Bike!
Jolene and Ronin have a past. But fate has brought them face to face with it again. Jolene had left her past and made a new life for herself. As a lawyer she has the respect of her peers. Life has been good, she has Brad a steady man in her life. Until a call from her sister brings her past back to the present. Ronin her childhood love has been accused of murder. His claims of innocence ring true to Jolene and its up to her to help him find the betrayer and get the murder charges dropped. There is intense drama that will keep your stuck to the edge of your seat. With sizzling tension between the main protagonists. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This is a first time reading Ms. Easley's work. A friend recommended this book to me. And I was greatly surprised at the skill in which she told her tale. The world she has created is rich and complex. A must read for anyone who loves a great MC story.
straight down the middle of the road review from me here... I can't say it was the best MC book I've come across, but neither was it the worst. It's well written but a little flat, most of the characters are quite 2d; they need a little more something something. For an MC book, we didn't see much MCing. It was alluded to and you can tell the guys are your usual biker bad boys but there just wasn't enough punch. The story is actual quite a good one, the idea behind it well thought out and in general terms an enjoyable read. I was just expecting more rough and ready I guess...so really it's my fault I didn't enjoy this book as much as others did. I should have left my preconceived ideas at the cover and dived in! It is a very quick read...ideal for a short haul flight and if you're after a quick and light MC read, this is the book for you.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the read. MC reads are my favourite reads and this one will be on my list.
After escaping her MC family to live a normal life, Jolene is dragged right back into it. After a phone call from her estranged sister, Jolene is on the road, racing back to her hometown. Little does she know that there was a little white lie her sister told and it was another person that Jolene left behind that needs her help.
Ronin is a dark and mysterious man, that has had to hide his true feelings of heartbreak and loss. He does this by emerging himself in climbing the ranks in the MC, drink and sex.
A very good read, and I be reading more of Kimmie's books.

What a story about Jolene and Ronin. It starts out with a fire in Jolene home that destroyed. At the time Jolene was pregnant with Ronin baby which she miscarried because of the fire. That was a few years ago. Now to the president time Jolene received a phone call from here sister and her sister told here that there father needed her to come home because he needed her. When she got home after quite a few years away she met up with Ronin again. At a family dinner the cops came and arrested Ronin for killing The President of a rival the rival bike club. Jolene became his lawyer. This is were the story gets real interesting and a page turner. This is a book you are going to want to read it. This is the first book in the Executioners MC series it finishes up on a cliff hanger. Looking forward to the next part of this series.
I liked the book; it was a decent MC story. I have mixed feelings about the entirety of the book and had to really think hard before I decided on my final rating.
Plus points for me: 1. I enjoyed reading both Jo and Ronin's point of view. It's always nice to see through the male's point of view. 2. The back story of Jo and Ronin's relationship. I enjoyed reading about their history. 3. I like the development of Jo's character.
I gave it a 3-star rating for three reasons: 1. It was confusing for me at the start. It didn't come across as mysterious to me. Most probably its just me having a hard time getting on with the story. 2. It was predictable. You can immediately tell who the villain was. 3. The on-and-off-again thing going on was a little bit too much for me.
Wow! This is, by far, my favorite Kimmie Easley book. Lots of drama, steam, suspense that made this book really hard to put down. I'm definitely adding more MC books to my library! Jolene left her life as daughter of the Executioners' prez and moved to San Diego to start a new life. But when trouble arises and her exboyfriend and almost baby daddy is accused of a crime he didn't commit, she can't stay on the sidelines and jumps head first and uncover an horrendous plot. It felt a little like a cliffhanger at the end, so I truly hope a series is in the works, but the book is so good that it didn't tarnish my reading experience.
4.5 from me on this one. I like the writing style from this new to me author. I really like the back story, and the dynamics of Jolene and Ronin. I thought the "club" should have been a little more supportive of one of their own, but not positive. That was probably my only big negative thought on this book. I thought the history between Ronin and Jolene was interestingly done. And add Ruth who is obviously a glue so to speak in this story, and you have the whole picture.
At first I was a little confused in order to understand the story, but then it all started to make sense. The situation in which Ronin and the other bikers live is not ideal, but it serves well for all of them, and when Jolene is forced to return to help Ronin, their past and suffering resurfaces and it's impossible for them to get away from each other. I really liked the story, it's well written. And I'm anxious to know what will happen to all of them in the next story.
