*sighs* Lady of Mockery (it is a very rough translation, mind you) has interesting concepts, but the rest of the story is just so............predicable and.............unoriginal.
Although the beautiful female MC in the story is pretty impressive in her role as the 'wicked woman', but...just how many 'wicked beautiful woman' themed mystery novels had we already endued after the overwhelming success of Journey Under the Midnight Sun? And for how many times we must endue the bullshit of 'women can only become badass/tough/wicked after she was raped' ? I simply lost count!
*sighs* This novel is a fast-paced and entertaining read, but all of the characters are so predicable that they look Too Stupid To Live (no wonder all of them are so easy to manipulate!)
And the final plot twist, it is so easy to predict that I have difficulty to understand why the police in the story can't figure this out. I'm rolling my eyes right now! My Goodness!
As to the heroine herself---should I say she is an anti-heroine in fact? Not only she must have a cliched past of being raped, she also constantly preys on other women and weak-willed, trusting people that I cannot sympathize with her because all of her action is selfish to the bones and awful.
