As a person surviving with cancer, I have read many hundred published medical research reports... searching for an edge to keep me alive. This book could have saved a lot of time. His comments are well backed up with research. That said... there are two omissions that you should know about.
First, many of his recommendations COUNTERACT many cancer medications in widespread use today. So, protect yourself... review any supplement with your oncologist AND oncology pharmacist. Many oncologists are not well versed in supplements. In some cases, I had to contact the manufacturer of the cancer medication to get an informed answer.
Second, the book does not address vascular calcification. VC is emerging as the leading culprit in heart disease. He may not mention this because there is no broad consensus on how to avoid or reverse vascular calcification. I would like to read his highly educated and informed comments on the topic.
Kudos to Dr. Blaylock for wanting to help people naturally. Although a couple of his suggestions were good, unfortunately the majority were misinformed which is not unusual when a conventionally trained M.D. decides to "go natural." Unfortunately most of these very intelligent people don't have an understanding all of the complex & various intricacies of synergy, herbalism, and nutritional biochemistry, and by just reading a few studies & recommending isolated nutrients, they may help relieve symptoms but are going to cause problems down the road due to disruption of normal homeostatic set points & altered metabolic pathways.
For example, recommending berberine long-term to everyone generally, which is a very potent phytochemical that raises drug levels by up to 50% in the body if a person takes even an OTC drug, and is not used longer than 2 weeks once per day in natural medicine due to the powerful effects on blood sugars. Or recommending green tea extract to everyone without understanding that preparation makes for different reactions in the body (the tea drink form has the healing effects but does not damage tissues; the extract form is far too concentrated for the body to use long-term and although it will have a few health effects, it also damages liver cells); or recommending cruciferous vegetables for those with Crohn's because the veggies are anti-inflammatory without understanding that people in this condition don't have the enzymes nor the correct amounts of intestinal bacteria to digest cruciferous vegetables (especially raw, even in blenderized forms) which worsens the condition. Overall, his intentions are great but advice is really not the best.
This book has recommendations for supplements that are helpful for certain conditions, but good health basically boils down to diet, exercise, decreasing stress, etc.
Very simple. Nothing I haven't found online regarding his supplement recommendations for various chronic and short-term illnesses. If you are looking for a detailed, in-depth look at illnesses and diet and supplement plans, I'd advise a different book.
