Serial Killers: 101 Interesting Facts and Trivia about Serial Killers

Rate this book
Thing most terrifying thing about serial killers is that sometimes, they’re just like us, as the interesting facts in this true crime collection reveal.

Even the most diabolical of serial killers was once someone’s child, someone’s spouse, someone’s parent, but somewhere along the line, something happened to send them off the rails on a descent into madness.

Wisconsin serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer would have said he was just lonely, and that’s why 17 young men ended up dead at his hands. Never mind that he carried around a plastic bag to pick up road kill as a child – a huge harbinger of terrible things to come.

The compilation of trivia in this serial killer true crime anthology goes beyond the familiar stories to give you a glimpse of some of the more horrifying aspects of people who become famous for acts of barbarianism that are unfathomable for most of us.

By going behind the scenes, you’ll learn more about the monsters whose stories keep us awake at night, uncover the mundane hidden amongst the horrifying bits that make the evening news.

These serial killer true crime moments are those you’ll want to read around the campfire on a moonless summer night. That’s if, of course, you’re planning on staying up all night.

Sleep, if it comes, will be a nightmare.

I live in one of the most beautiful places in Florida, Jupiter, with my wife, two kids and our golden retriever, Vincent. I've been a full time author for the last 15 years and I wouldn't trade it against anything in the world!

My father was a journalist and wrote about some of the worst crimes you could ever imagine, and that's where my big interest from serial killers and other horrible crimes comes from. Just to hear my father talk about the evil acts of Ted Bundy as we were out fishing as a kid are some of my best memories.

I liked this book pretty well as it is mostly just a trivia and fact book highlighting different aspects of all kinds of serial killers. I didn't realize it wasn't like "regular" true crime as I thought it was going to have maybe a different chapter for different serial killers, but it is not like that. The format is more like a summary list of different things and interesting facts about serial killers from the late 1800's to modern times.

Very informative facts of the serial killers and some of the serial killers listed I have not heard of before, which makes me want to read some of their books. The author, Jack Rosewood, has thrown in some serial killers that he has written about and has links to his website to get some of the books. Three stars on this one.

Very biased book with multiple inaccuracies. One serial killer's name is spelled wrong, and another one was written about completely inaccurately to the details of the case. It seemed this book was just glorifying serial killers and fawning over them rather than just presenting facts. Information was borderline obsessive and at times completely false. A two minute search online revealed a totally different story of one "killer" (William Heirens) than what the book told. Reality was much different than the fanaticism displayed in writing.

Awesome

As always, I love reading things by Mr. Rosewood... random facts about the disappointments of the world was rather enjoyable.

Okay, so I got an e-mail link telling me this book was temporarily free, and when someone tells you that you should read a book about serial killers, you don't want to make them mad. Really, I have no interest whatsoever in serial killers; I think they are sick and creepy. But it's only 34 pages, and I figured I can read just about anything that short.
So, I read it. It was kind of creepy, and there were a lot of sick people mentioned in there, with even sicker habits and appetites. But it was also, surprisingly, quite interesting. Here's a couple examples of some of the facts covered:
- William Lester Suff allegedly won the Riverside County Employees' Chili Cook-Off by serving a chili made from the breast of one of his victims. Suff won the cook-off. (Ok, not only is that gross, but my bf pointed out that it is not kosher.)
- According to statistics, more serial killers are born in the month of November than any other month of the year.
For me, “Serial Killers: 101 Interesting Facts...” was the book that definitively answered the question, “Am I crazy enough to read about almost anything?” The answer, apparently, is yes, but only once.
Throughout the book, there are a few links to other books by the author, that are more definitive biographies to some of the most famous serial killers. Some readers may find this annoying and call the book just a ploy to get you to buy the other books. Personally, they didn't bother me, and after all, many books do contain teasers to other books by the author, except they are usually at the end instead of scattered throughout. Just skip those pages if you don't like them. It's not a big deal.
So now I know a lot more about serial killers, and know for sure that I want to stay away from them. Try this book! You might like it! Or it might gross you out....
But then, there are a lot of people who like this kind of stuff. Three and a half stars, rounded up to 4.

Although the title of the book reflects the truth there are 101 facts presented, it seemed to me it was more of a way for the author to advertise and try to sell his other books.

While I did find the facts interesting, it felt like the book was more written for the author to push their other books.

Ως επί το πλείστον πρόκειται για ένα βιβλίο με αναφορές σε γεγονότα και λεγόμενα κατά συρροή δολοφόνων που εχουν απασχολήσει την κοινή γνώμη.

I received this book free from the author and library thing in exchange for an honest review.
What is it about us that loves to read true crime? And I do admit I love true crime. It's like a car crash; you want to know. But you don't; there a lot of really sick, perverse individuals out there and some of them are portrayed here.
I enjoyed this quick read little book of trivia about some serial killers. I would have preferred having all of the information about each serial killer together though but that's just personal preference.
Many of the trivia I had heard of and known but not all. Some of the facts were shocking, as in Robert Picton and some others. May I never eat sausage or chill ever again unless I made it.
I found many of the facts interesting and in some cases it left me wanting to know more so I think I will check out some of Jack Rosewood's many true crime books.

Serial Killers: 101 Interesting Facts and Trivia about Serial Killers is an excellent true crime trivia book. I’d definitely recommend it to collectors like me. The facts and trivia covered range from the well known to the less well known of these ‘individuals’. The writing is fresh and straight to the point. It’s a straightforward and no fluff guide and an interesting quick short read. As a big fan of Jack Rosewood, it’s another five stars from me. I would highly recommend his work to all fans of the true crime genre. Well done again!

Honestly, this sucked. Besides the fact that the author used this to push his other books as at least the last 5 "facts" were always about the person in the next book; some of the facts were wrong. This made me question the validity of the other facts as since I knew of a couple how would I know that the so called facts about people I didn't know so well were true?

Always fascinating but there was no trivia and he seemed to be promoting his other books in the book. No biggie, just wish it was longer.

If you're into serial killers (like I am) or have a morbid fascination (like I have) than this is the book for you! Not sure you could really call this a book or a novella, it's about 16 pages in length but add the acknowledges and advertising for the next book, etc.. and you have 26 pages. It took less than 2 hours to completely read but I did learn a few new things about the most notorious of the killers and was introduced to some I wasn't familiar with. Interesting trivial and worth some down time after cleaning the house.

Quick read

101 facts and trivia are exactly what this book contains. No gore, nothing squeamish, just facts. Rosewood also uses the facts to get you to purchase other serial killer books he has written. This wasn’t the best SK book I’ve ever read but I will read more Rosewood books as I believe they will be interesting.

I knew going in this would be a short read. It honestly doesn't take long at all. They were interesting factoids, each one not very long. Main reason I gave it three stars was it was cut into parts and in between each part, the author hawked other books of his and took 2-3 pages to do so. I get putting in something at the end about your other books or at the beginning having an 'Also by' page, but in between each part was annoying.

A very interesting albeit, strange and twisted read

I had to read this one person at a time - i am interested in finding out what makes a serial killer/ages they started cruelty to animals, whether they wet the bed as preteens or teens and fire play....basically, the McDonald Triad...

This was a short and easy to read book. Basically what the title says, as well. The trivia and facts were very interesting, most about well known serial killers - Joel Rifkin, Herbert Mullen, Donald Gaskins, etc. I enjoyed this book. It really was a fun read.

True Crime stories keep me aware of being wary of seemingly nice people . It also was creatively written . Good Job Jack, I look forward to reading your other books !

Not worth the time

The author constantly tries to get you to buy some of his other books while the facts aren't interesting at all.

Very interesting

Read this book for research for a book that I'm currently writing. It gave a lot of information and links to other books about specific serial killers. A lot of the information is not commonly known so it helped gain some insight.
